  1. But he forgot to say his greatest weakness is being a perfectionist.
  2. You mean Arteta wasn't being sincere when he said Sheff Utd were a tough team to play? How disappointing.
  3. Which is what Nigel did with his coaches and Dave Rennie. The best leaders are open to disagreement and prepared to change their mind.
  4. I'm very much in favour of differing views being debated whether on a pod, on here or anywhere else. I'm happy to give a like to somebody I disagree with if I think they have made their point well. But opinions should be presented rationally and with respect for those you disagree with. If a mature adult can't do that I for one not going to listen to them.
  5. And assuming you have the right plan, if there is such a thing, you need to appoint the best, most suitable people you can to key roles to implement it. I can't see that JL/BT/LM are those people so the plan is neither here nor there.
  6. The problem is you can't have a rational discussion with an irrational person. The more you set out your opinion based on evidence and intelligent analysis the angrier they get. Anyway, I'll hold yer coat.
  7. So we replace the players rather than play in a way that suits them? That seems rather expensive though no doubt he will have money thrown at him in an attempt to rescue JL and BT from their own lies and incompetence. At least you didn't say 3 transfer windows.
  8. In the presser before QPR it was put to him how good we were in pressing and transition against Saints. He bristled and said "Yes but we had control at times". I found that revealing as it suggested he doesn't want to play in a way that best suits our players even if it works. Seems we're going to play his way regardless. Reminds me of the fictional civil servant who says "It may work in practice but does it work in theory?" That's increasingly how Manning comes across for me.
  9. Presumably when you know who has received his script from Tinnion.
  10. It's easy, just ensure that the 3 people in the most important positions are out of their depth. I can do that.
  11. Yes, but he's done it in a modern, progressive way apparently.
  12. Seems like we've installed bollards and a no entry sign to block access.
  13. Not just you Dave, we'd have to shut the forum down! Ah well, it was fun while it lasted.
  14. Thank you for your service from a grateful nation.
  15. Point taken though that seems to contradict him saying he wouldn't change the way he works. There could be a subtle difference I suppose. Agreed on Piercy, he's excellent.
  16. This mindset bothers me. It implies he's right regardless of the outcome. Not encouraging to be as rigid in your approach as he seems to be. Good leaders in any context are open to the possibility that they may be wrong. He keeps saying this but it comes across as he's doing fine it's the players' fault. These sort of things don't come across to me as 'good behaviours'.
  17. All very well but how are his behaviours?
  18. Hard to say without knowing the detail of the Forest case. And of course they have a lower limit. Tribunals don't set precedents but I can see them getting 6 points deducted if mitigation is factored in. Who knows if Everton's double jeopardy argument will work? A 4 point deduction would be amusing though!
  19. The best there is on football finance matters for me. Apart from his excellent summary he goes on to demolish many of the claims made by Everton fans and others.
  20. I recommend today's Athletic Football podcast. Matt Slater in particular gives an excellent summary. Henry Winter and the many other journalists who seem not to understand the process would do well to listen. https://theathletic.com/podcast/144-athletic-football-podcast/
  21. From Wikipedia: A useful idiot is a person perceived as propagandising for a cause without fully comprehending the cause's goals, and who is cynically being used by the cause's leaders. Seems a good fit to me
  22. Then it'll be "He needs 3 transfer windows". Etc, etc ad infinitum or until BT realises he's perfectly capable of embarrassing himself and doesn't need a shill to do it for him.
  23. You are correct of course, though Jon did say BT was growing into the role as well. Not a professional way to operate imo.
  24. A point that passes most fans by as it may seem boring and not relevant to what happens on the field. So, we do not have a Board in any meaningful sense. We sacked an award winning CEO because, well, why would a business need a CEO? Anyway Tinnion can fulfil that role, presumably because he has hitherto hidden expertise. There's nothing like following best practice and this is nothing like following best practice.
  25. 6 points was what I expected the original penalty to be, for what it's worth, given the size of the breach. If Everton had admitted the breach up front I can't help but think a 6 point deduction could have been agreed with the Premier League.
