I remember the Bowles incident. Pure accident, he came down on a soft pitch. Worst for me was Gerry Sharpe. Bone broke through the skin.

Don't remind me.

Luckily, I didn't actually see it (VS Middlesbrough, and I was in the East End), but I certainly heard it - like a rifle shot.

Loan with an option to buy would be the best deal for us. We get a player that will be hungry to perform and if he doesn't settle or isn't great we can let him go at the end of the loan deal.

More of a risk with a permanent deal.

What’s wrong with asking an Italian his view on a Serie A player?

Or to frame it another way, asking the footballer who was released and is still yet to find another club, his opinion on the guy who's replacing him...

I never realised he’s yet to find a club. I’m surprised at that. Acquitted himself very well over his 2yrs here I thought.

I thought Eros wanted to leave? I was quite happy for him to stay

"Hi Eros, how's it going? Sorry that City didn't offer you a new contract, what a bummer! Listen, this is a bit awkward but we've signed this kiddie called Pedro Periera to replace you. Is he any good? How funny would it be if we've replaced you with someone shite 😂. Anyway, hopefully it wasn't too much of a hassle uprooting your family once again to go back to Italy and I hope the dole cheques are coming in ok."

He’s a really top bloke

Sent him a couple of messages , thanking him for his efforts whilst here etc and he has replied to each and has definitely taken a bit of Bristol City back to Italy with him

Has been training hard all summer but doesn’t look to have got himself a club

He and his family appear to be as happy as ever though , the most important

Thought he was excellent, when fit

Likewise Milan.

Just both unlucky with injuries.

Thought we may have got him a year or too late

Slightly younger , I think he could have ended up a bit of a legend here

For those interested , The chat reminded me to try and find out if he has a Club yet

As usual he responded within minutes and absolutely nothing at the moment , poor fella

Sent his ‘love to all the fans ‘

Has this gone quiet because it's done?

I’d guess so.

The media teams are just making up welcome graphics for Pereira, Nketiah, Nagy and Buska at the same time, H&S says only one player on the roof at a time.

If Pereira is compared to Pisano that's good for several reasons.

Firstly Pisano was quite good! Thought Hunt the better going forward, Pisano perhaps better defensively. You need that variety IMO.

2) Age 21-22 is he? Huge room for growth! Higher ceiling therefore.

3) Feeling he maybe or could become a bit better technically than Pisano. Good traits of Pisano but with other aspects on top?

4) Benfica academy a pretty impressive one.

2-3 certainly also should see value added for sell on purposes.

Think he should prove a useful addition.

If I was in the media team with the number of players we're currently being linked with, I would just make one massive graphic saying #WelcomeEveryone and then hand in my notice and go for a lie down.

I'm getting a bit misty eyed reading this. Really liked Pisano. One of my favourite little things about supporting City recently is that despite only getting to a half dozen or so games a season I still saw both of his City goals.

On both occasions he had barely any idea how to celebrate.

Was a good footballer and an excellent bloke.

Can't believe there isn't a Serie B club out there that needs a solid RB and a bit of experience.

I've sort of forgotten what is going on here. Loan isn't it?

CITY SIGN PEREIRA ON SEASON LOAN

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7TH 2019

City have named Pedro Pereira as their 10th signing of the summer.

The Portuguese right-back joins the Robins on a season-long loan with the option to purchase from Benfica.

Pereira, 21, was part of the Benfica squad which won the Primeira Liga in 2016/17, making one appearance in a 2-2 draw with Boavista en route to their record 36th title.

He spent the second half of the 2017/18 season on loan with Italian Serie A side Genoa, returning to the club for a second loan spell for the duration of the 2018/19 campaign and it was there that the Portugal youth international caught the eye of City.

Chief Executive Officer Mark Ashton said: “We have been watching Pedro for some time and we are delighted he has joined us for the season. He is an exceptional young talent who will definitely add to Lee’s defensive options.

“This loan signing is another example that Bristol City are able to do business with the big clubs around Europe and reflects our ambition and stature in the modern game.”

City Head Coach Lee Johnson commented: “I’m very pleased to be working with a player of Pedro’s talent and potential. He’s young but has played in the top leagues in Portugal and Italy and we are confident he will be a great asset to the right-back position.”

Pereira will wear the number 32 shirt and links up with his teammates ahead of the Sky Bet Championship fixture away to Birmingham City this Saturday (August 10th, 3pm KO).

Thank Christ for that. I was starting to wonder if we were ever going to get one of these over the line. At least that's one in the bag. (With apologies for mixed metaphors.)

Gotta be the shortest thread of a signing. Ever.

Poor Pedro.

Yup, under the radar he flew.

Official site claims he's 24 (he's 21), and that he's getting the number 42, while in the first article claims he's getting the number 32.

Massengo is wearing 42 so my guess is 32 and somebody in the media team is too busy to get anything right

He has to share a shirt with Massengo, too many players not enough shirts.
