1,045 brentford fans heading to the Gate

How come they are claiming to of sold out but only 1045 are coming? Surely we offered them more than that, especially as they aren’t renowned for noise or aggro.

Maybe that’s all the club requested?

Are away clubs charged for any unsold tickets? I only ask as I assumed that tickets were just sold with no risk to the away team, so I don’t understand why a club would only request a certain amount of tickets if more are available? And it’s not like we are going to sold any unsold tickets in the Atyeo for our own fans, is it?

Even the top half of the Atyeo holds more than 1045 supporters doesn’t it?

Any one else find it frustrating that a club with half our support and lets face it if the roles were reversed today and we were third in the league we would have taken at least 3 times as many fans, yet here we are below them in the table again. I look at them and think a bit Like Bournemouth as well what have they got or are doing that were not?

I am sure there are many Sunderland, Portsmouth, Stoke, etc fans thinking similar thoughts, there is not much correlation between the two things generally.

As for Bournemouth, what they had was someone willing to destroy the FFP rules and the luck to achieve promotion before it bit them on the arse.

Were they punished at all? didn't know that, seems we might be the only ones that actually stick to the rules, didn't QPR do something similar? and as for the other clubs you mentioned yes it must be frustrating for them as well.

1045 was their initial allocation, which they have not yet sold out

Like mentioned above they haven't asked for anymore as the cost of printing unsold tickets lies with Brentford, so unless the tickets were flying out in advance they wont be asking for anymore now

Slightly off topic but I see City are 11/4 to beat Brentford tomorrow, that's very long odds for a home team, only Newcastle v Leicester 9/2 have longer odds out of all the home teams in all league games tomorrow.

Brentford are odds on favourites with Bet365 and Paddy Power with a load of others offering evens.

We are big underdogs for this game according to the bookies...

A City and Newcastle double pays 19/1.

That is truly shocking. Flying high, two hours up the road should be bringing at least 2000.

This game worries me. They have the ability to rip us apart.

To be fair, we have been ahead of Brentford after 19 of the 25 games so far this season, 2 of which were the 1st two games of the season and the others the most recent games where they have been on top form and we lost 4 in a row.

So despite us having a rubbish striker up front, LJs tombola to pick players, no identity, fans staying away, we are 2 points behind Brentford (who everyone wants to emulate) and 1 point behind Preston.

Generally agree with you, but not sure how serious some of your comments in the second line are - I thought our home attendance have been pretty decent this season, c.21k average?

LJ's tombola doesn't seem to be getting quite as much use this season. Watkins starting the last game seemed odd, but LJ obviously saw something in training/something he'd been working on with Watkins given he scored after 4 minutes and very nearly scored an identical goal later on too. Of course, if he hadn't scored we would all be moaning about the weird team selection again.

You might be interested to know that home wins are becoming less likely for a lot of sides. Probably reflects the relative evenness of the division and tactical trends.

The average home win % in the Championship this season is 45% or so I read online. My rough calculations had it lower but regardless it's somewhere between 40-45%...below 50% certainly!

Means that for every 20 Championship games, only 8-9, possibly 10 at a push result in a home win this season. Strikingly low, wouldn't you say?

Possibly reflected in the odds to an extent.

Brentford take a good average of their home attendances to away games - around 10% or so which is a better percentage than us.

1045 for tomorrows game is about right.

As for our attendances, based on tickets sold the average is 21,742 which puts us 9th in the division.

Not bad at all.

Superfluous as to how many are in the ground - the average paying support is 21,742.

(surprised to see Huddersfield and Cardiff getting such good support)

Disappointing figures for Blackburn IMO. They`re having a pretty good season and will have plenty of away support at Ewood Park given how close they are to lots of other clubs.

City could easily increase the average attendance of 21,742 by giving more tickets to the away clubs. A lot of clubs wouldn’t take a bigger allocation - eg Luton - but some would fill the Atyeo if tickets were available. Obviously the loss in income, caused by a reduced away allocation,  isn’t an issue.

Oh no. I’ve gone all nostalgic.....

More years ago than I care to remember. Christmas Eve. The Granary.

Bristol’s finest take the stage. Colonel Kilgore’s then thrashed their way through several fun filled hours of surfadelic rockabilly....

I’m back there now. Oh to be young again.... 😃

We don't give the away club the maximum amount as we like to keep Ashton Gate as a fortress, we would obviously get less points at home if the away end was filled with noisy fans.....

The only downside of reduced allocations- and it's about 2,300- is that it's a race to the bottom. Or could be anyway.

OTOH I can see the upside of course- away from the pitch, and less in numbers- plus easier for a home club to manage of course!

I always do a Championship Accy with 4 home wins , 4 draws and 4 aways . It’s amazing how often this occurs . As yet I’ve never managed to get the correct matches to fit the formula, but it will happen. The odds are always worth a quid to get about £15,000 back , just hope it doesn’t take 15,000 Saturdays to come in !

Not done too well over recent seasons in general when Atyeo packed with away fans tbf.

I don't go away often now but I have to say our away fans represent better than we do at home. Just saying that from my odd away games and mates comments so I really believe a packed Atyeo helps the visitors.

Mission impossible I always try West Country teams. City , Gas, Yeovil, Exeter. Rarely get 4 right let alone Championship. Good shout mind for a bit fun

You are surprised by Huddersfield and Cardiff support even though most of their season tickets were bought whilst they were Prem teams? I'm not.

This game worries me. They have the ability to rip us apart.

Brentford have the joint best defensive record in the division - that is why they are odds on favourites !

Why are we talking up Brentford like they’re Barcelona? I don’t get it.

- They have 2 points more than us over 25 games.

- They’ve scored fewer goals.

- They’ve lost 7 times on the road and have taken 1 point from 4 away games.

- They lost last time out.

I’m not pretending today is anything other than a tough game but why they’re odds-on favourites is beyond me. This to me looks like a pretty even contest.

Several posts complaining that they would have gone to AG if it had been POTD.

It was made quite clear to Brentford fans on their site when tickets were originally advertised in November that 1,045 was the full allocation and there would be no POTD..

Presumably that's all Brentford asked for, so any complaints go to them.

Good point, hadn't thought of that.
