Davefevs
Bentley - 7 - clean sheet, good save early on (was it deflected), safe hands late on. Hunt - 6 - solid, much better, covered alongside Williams. Dasilva - 8 - great challenge from a cross in first half, and wizardry on the ball in second. Returning to full sharpness, and looks for Paterson inside by getting his head up Williams - 7 - assured after first minute slip. Good positioning for goal line clearance Baker - 8 - classy defensive display, close to a 9, but for some poor passing. It stifles Dasilva at times. Brownhill - 7 - much better, worked hard, and started to drive us on Smith - 8 - so much to like in a good all round display. Never doubt his sniffing out of danger, but some really intelligent passes too. Returning to form at a key point. Eliasson - 7 - quiet tonight, yet created all our chances. Bit lightweight first half, but involved much more second half. Class pass for the goal. Paterson - 8 - key tonight to getting others to pass it / keep it. Had quiet spells, but gave his all, and a super first time finish. Weimann - 6 - actually looked like he might form a partnership with Fam playing narrow on left wing. Unselfish 26/30 passes too. Diedhiou - 7 - in line with recent performances. Controlled aggression. Good touch time Eliasson for goal. O’Dowda - no Mark, but exactly what we wanted from a sub Moore - no mark, in fact didn’t even get on the bbc live text!!! (Since been corrected) 4231 / 4141, however you want to look at it. Played it for 90 minutes. Didn’t even swap Eliasson and Weimann over. Happy? Yes.

I know you don’t do half’s but I’d say (not that the latters played badly) that Smith and Baker deserved a slightly higher mark than Dasilva and Paterson but that’s nitpicking. The Swift shot on Bentley first half wasn’t deflected but swerved wickedly. Better save than the highlights give it credit for.
allyolly
Baker man of the match for me. Brave with some unbelievable blocks, decisive, great understanding with Williams and good with distribution. if he can maintain this level of form what a great problem to have when Kalas returns. Baker - not a great fan tbh purely because of his propensity to insist on going off the field when he gets a knock, can't be trusted. I may be doing him an injustice as he may have a long term injury we are unaware of, but it is very irritating. Imagine Baker without that weak point and imagine that he could pass the ball - he would't be with us if that were the case but what a player he would be. Very very good tonight fair play. The point about starting with a defined formation/line up or whatever you want to call it, and not tinkering with it is a very good one. Every player looked as if they knew what their job was, it was a lot more cohesive than of late. Hopefully LJ will stay with it..

Disappointed with Hunt, other than a couple of passes, very poor distribution and often appeared to be out of position and not picking players up. Disappointed with Hunt, other than a couple of passes, very poor distribution and often appeared to be out of position and not picking players up. There appears to be a very noticeable tactic that Hunt is being asked to play a lot closer to Williams to support him...Mrs ing he leaves more space out wide for the opposition left sided player. It meant we conceded a lot of ball to Obita to swing in crosses. However he only delivered 4/14 crosses that hit a Reading teammate. If you take corners out of the equation (2/3), only 2 of his 11 crosses found their man....one of which was what led to the melee. But ultimately, we dealt with his crosses really well. Compare to our own Niclas Eliasson....4/7 of which 1/1 were corners. So 3/6 found a teammate. Finally of those 3 (out of 6) successful open play crosses, all of Nic’s were chance assists (light blue line). Only 1 of Obita’s was.

Good stuff Dave - Dasilva is looking like a class signing now .... another in our long line of superb left backs that goes all the way back to the 70s ...
