Massive credit to Lee Johnson

Did you also congratulate him for taking off Wells who was really keeping the Derby defence pinned back and reverting to his ultra negative mode.

We were playing great creating chances so why change it apart from replacing Corrie (who looked off the pace all evening)

I imagine LJ thought the points were safe at that stage and wanted to keep NW fresh for our trip to Bellend Rd .

And he was right ... just .

Ok...if you want LJ out........who do you suggest we replace him with? ........Please do not say Chris Houghton.  It's a cliche, but  "You don't know what youv'e got, till it's gone"

Not my job to find a replacement. Can certainly be more creative than Houghton though. No one knew who Farke or Wagner were. Everyone thought Lampard and Gerrard got big jobs too soon but proven they can do it. If the job became available I am sure there would be plenty of options.

Well thanks for confirming that you have an irrational dislike of our manager, you want him out no matter the position in the table or the results he gets. That seems fair.

It isn’t irrational. I have explained numerous times why I don’t have confidence in him. Where we are in the table now doesn’t matter to me. Where we are after 46 games matter and the performances in those 46 games matter. Performance wise we have been awful and have been for years. Last year was passable but we have gone further backwards since. I hope we continue to play with as much purpose  last night but there is no evidence LJ can keep the side motivated.

But don’t let reasoning rain on your parade. You keep doing you and don’t bother responding if you don’t agree.

On OTIB, whenever City lose, the usual threads appear clamouring for Lee to be sacked and claiming that he's clueless, etc,

So, after a good home win, full of excitement and nerve-jangling apprehension, I'd like to offer some gratitude for Lee.

And no, this is not point scoring against his haters, so no arguments necessary, but just want to say well done to Lee and everyone at City for taking us into contention for the top two.

Quality work, keep it up!  Here's looking forward to a strong finish to the season.

COME ON YOU REDSSSSSS!!!!

Yes indeed, credit where its due.

One small point. Hating a manager's brand of football is not the same hating the manager.

What a boring post! Your just as bad as the haters, top 2? We ain't even in the top 6 and I would edge my bets that after the next two games we will be further away and it's all down to our shit home form, crap selection and tactics! Happy to be proved wrong though

oh do cheer up mate !!!

Credit to LJ for his team selection, shame he didn't pick that side for the Birmingham game!

As others have said poor game management through the subs though.

Anyway on to Leeds, can LJ for once get the better of Bielsa, we shall see.

Yeah,I can't believe he picked the same side which had won four on the bounce - I wonder what goes through his head sometimes. Anyone would think he got stick for having a tombola normally.   What's he like, hey?

You’ve changed your tune, last night you said that the free flowing, pressing football from a couple of years ago is back! Also, you said that perhaps you were wrong about Johnson! Funny what a few drinks does to people’s opinions!

Fifteen points from 18, but you can bet your bottom dollar that if we lose away to the team in second that the calls for his head to be served up will reach fever pitch.

It's maddening that every victory is taken as a sign that we're going up, and every defeat treated as a disaster and proof of LJ's incompetence. Are the fans of other teams as nuts?

It's good to see us starting well and not needing to make two changes at half time to actually get into the game.

But last night his subs caused more of a problem than anything, nearly cost us the game.

The shape we changed to at 3-1 up was a stupid thing to do, the formation we were in was working just fine. The changes should've been like for like, but we somehow found ourselves without a CM on the bench despite having two blokes starting where one is injury prone, and the other hadn't played in 2-3 months.

I posted this previously, the 6 games have now been completed & it got us & Preston absolutely spot on, don't think it did so well on the rest of the division though, but I'm now interested to see how it has us for the next 6!

Actual form table - https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/championship/formtabelle/wettbewerb/GB2

Interesting table - that run of 'easier' games didn't do WBA many favours (until their most recent couple of wins). Preston certainly took advantage, and as for us - I'd normally expect us to pick up more points against the teams at the top than those at the bottom!

Does this bode well for our run in? Of our final 14 games, ten are against the current top 12, omitting both ourselves and Brentford. Taking 3 points off the teams around is a dream scenario, dropping 3 more dangerous than ever. Going to be one heck of a run in either way, for everyone in the top half. Here's hoping we stay in the hunt as long as possible.

Well, we know what happened last season and the season before.

And we are in the same position (points wise) as those two seasons - hopefully we have a better outcome this season;

Bristol City after 32 matches in the same league / division
  GP W D L GF GA Pts * Comparison
2019-2020 32 15 8 9 48 45 53 -

But for the first time in that period we have actually strengthened the squad - so hopefully we will see an improvement by the end of the season

That GF column in 2015-16 and 2011-12 is mortifying.

What’s worrying is how many goals we have conceded this season. With the exception of the relegation season, it’s less like the last 2, and more like all the others when we were nearer the bottom. The difference is we have scored more this season than any other, but +3 goal difference is not great, and means we an extra point to get ahead of most of the teams higher up the table.

Also it’s amazing that our Win/Draw/Loss record so far this season is exactly the same as this point last season...

I agree with the sentiment but I think you’re probably stirring unnecessarily when the atmosphere on the forum is pretty good.

I don't think so. Not sure why sticking up for LJ is often seen as a wind up on here. It's just his opinion. Keep them coming.

It's not sticking up for Johnson, @reddogkev is known for trying to start threads that generate conversation and debate. He does it very well. The opening post is written in a fairly loaded way, it's obviously subtle stirring.

Feast or Famine (again). A 3-2 squeaky win hardly deserves MASSIVE credit, neither does a single loss deserve him to be sacked with his ball bag flayed open.

Now I have an image in my mind that just won't go away...... 🤢

I don't think it is stirring whatsoever. He explains the reasons for his post. It's nice to read support for our manager so I'm glad he posted it.

Is it stirring when people say sack LJ? I've never seen anyone being accused of it when they have that view.

Why is one stirring and the other not?
