I agree with a lot on here, but the thing that annoyed me was Johnson after.

"We didn't hold the ball up well enough centrally"

Afobe was doing that brilliantly, but wide where Johnson put him. He wanted Wells to play centre of the 3, fair enough , then play Watkins & Weimann or someone used to playing wide.
DO NOT JUST STICK PLAYERS IN THE WRONG POSITIONS TO GET THEM IN THE TEAM .
I thinks it's one of the worst things a manager can do, shoehorn players into any old position just to get them in the team. How many times have you heard "he can do a job there"? I don't want that, I want a player, who is very good in a role, to play that role. TBF, hard to put players into a certain position when you don't know what system you want to play, or what your best team is.

Was reading some Preston tweets before their game with Cardiff and a few were suggesting Alan Browne at RB to get him in the team.

Maenpaa was good too.  Took his crosses, made his saves, assured with his feet, got the odd attack going early on.

I’d give him another year.  I’d move Bentley on.....keepers with a mistake in them never change.  It’s harsh, but money will be tight, could get decent money for Bentley.

You know this, but I completely agree.

Maenpaa is the definition of an unfussy, non showy goalkeeper, which is exactly what we need.

He had a few injury issues last season but I honestly do believe that he is the best keeper we have had at the club since Basso.

I know there are times players are shuffled for a reason, injury, cover etc. But for me , play a specialist player in his designated role.

Mention for HNM. Thought he broke up their play well at times. Invites a free kick almost every time he gets near the ball. Takes the pressure off... Beyond his years.

It was such a good move taking him off and putting Weimann in midfield instead, wasn’t it. ??

Tend to agree, however don’t forget heaton, who was just unfortunate to play behind the worst city defence I have ever seen!

Great to have him back, let down badly but the manager sticking him on the left....absolutely shocking.

The stat from sky sports was damning....Afobe didn't have a single touch in the opposition box.....tactical masterclass LJ.

I hope we sign this guy up aslong as he is fit.

I hope we sign him as well. But  will he honestly want to join a team managed by Johnson. Left on the bench in the first game and played on the wing in this one. I cannot see it happening. He would be a wonderful addition with a Manager who knew what he was doing.

Afobe took the fight to them. With the exception of Baker (and a competent display be Maenpaa) nobody else rose to the challenge.

Body language was that of a totally pissed off player when taken off. Rightly so.

Quality player.

Feel so bad for Benik, when someone's just come back from injury, maybe don't play them out of position?

For a lot of the game Afobe was wider than COD. Play to your strengths! It's not like we don't have enough players!

These are just more things that confirm LJ not only clueless, but an awful man manager.

Benik had a great start to the season and was easily our best striker, had an awful injury.

He works his nuts off to get back to fitness and what does LJ do, stick him out wide left.  Like the pro that he appears to be, he battles away in an unfamiliar position and was probably our best player on the pitch.

What must be going on in LJ’s head to think it was a good idea to then hook him and end up with putting Fammy where Benik should have started the match.

LJ’s head must be a total muddled mess and that’s a shit way to treat Afobe and didn’t even make any sense.

Ha ha. Sorry pal. Yes, I was agreeing with you and the laugh emoji’s were aimed at LJ’s decision to put Weimann in CM when subbing HNM.
Sorry, didn’t mean to confuse. Absolutely agreeing with you. ?

I thought Benik looked good. Great to have him back.

Absolutely bizarre Decision playing him left of a 3. Also a little unfair on him. Apparently Lee had seen him play there when he was younger!? Even more frustrating when we had at least 2 players on the bench that can play wide, as well as Callum O’Dolittle.

Another one of many many examples as to why Lee’s time is up. Absolutely clueless.
