You don't have a heart attack for life.

Some people actually get fixed and lead an active life.

Anyway, its just a suggestion that someone put forward as a possible incoming some time ago.

I've been saying for years (10+)to someone that we need hoddle at the club as a joke. Would be great if it came true

Indeed, the analysts have been working to him, the player database is his and he keeps firing chief scouts. Bringing in a DoF who is actually qualified for the role clips his wings. I'm not sure his ego can take that.

GMG said a number of analysts have also now left the club.

Maurizio Sarri has just been sacked by Juventus.

Rumours are he threw the game last night as there was a top DOF job on offer in England , can’t find our more at the moment

Sure is but that must have been their plan straight away, not waiting 5 weeks, saying we need a new outlook and then taking on someone with less experience than who we just sacked

Not disputing any of that! Just pointing out the fact...

@Harryhas suggested the analysts are not, shall we say, well regarded in the game iirc.

All this could point to clipping Ashton's wings or simply moving to an agent-led process, much as Arsenal seem to be doing.

Having a so-called super agent as de facto DoF certainly worked for Wolves, though they have a top coach, which helps.

This sounds like Benny all over again. The first run of bad results, DH goes out of the window and Benny (or someone like him) takes over!

True, but Ward got udls promoted before Benny took over. I'd take DH getting us promoted and then relegation from the PL by the DOF who took over. at least we'd have parachute payments to fall back on.

DOF, Ralph Rangenick? Wouldn't surprise me if we went European.

Likes the high press & winning of the ball back asap..

Top bloke & would be a stellar appointment & no way would be 2IC.....

Yes please ☺️..not likely though I fear.

Hope (against hope) all this shite has been smoke & mirrors!

Presumably an old boy who knows the game inside out but really doesn't need the "stress" that goes with matchday and day to day coaching of the club. Literally there to give advice when he thinks it's needed or when it's asked for?

Sounds like your average contributor to OTIB.

That actually sounds plausible................are you itk?!!

Haha no not at all, pure speculation. Just that he's rumoured to be leaving Man Utd once they're done with the Europa League, plus Holden being from that part of the world.

Sounds like Gregor knows more than he is letting on if he believes someone exciting is coming in to help

If appointed, looks like Holden could be  “exciting”......

New chant “ Holden says wave your legs up in the air"

Does beg the question if no experienced manager from all the applicants ‘fitted the structure’ what was the bloody point of going through all this?  Our structure is so unique no one else need actually apply...and we are royally screwed if DH does not work out.

Yep. If we’re cost cutting, there’s definitely a couple of the analysts we employ who are not particularly well-regarded. One in particular, if he finds himself still employed after this I’ll be amazed (although he is ‘one of Ashton’s men’), so.....

I thought a big part of his job was recruitment of players? If you take that away, surely that’s a big part of his job gone?

Who do you reckon Dave?

Guess he will give up that part of his role. Doesn’t seem very good at it.

Almost impossible to guess who a DOF might be.  Gary Johnson would be my bet

Robbie Fowler?

I was contemplating yesterday whether Fowler would accept an assistant role at a Championship club as opposed to head coach at Aussie or lower league club. For me it's still a step up for him and he'd be next in line.

GMG name checked Luke Cole and Sam Stanton (not sure if I heard that one correctly).

Sam Allardyce is a reasonably good suggestion I think. Out of work, knows Holden, might prefer that sort of role at this stage of his career. Doesn’t feel a very Bristol City appointment though.

why is that a good suggestion?

Indeed. Unlike DH and Bristol City of course. DH has arguably more managerial experience than him mind you....

Yep, not pretending to know too much about Bournemouth but Tindall, previously a long serving player like Eddie Howe, has been friend, confidant, and close assistant to Howe for the last 8 years.

Appointing him is probably about as close as they could get to keeping Bournemouth's most revered and successful manager ever.

A gamble (as they all are) but at least a similar one has been seen to work for them before, and if they want minimum disruption and continuity, with a good chance of success, then it seems a reasonable one imo.

In terms of someone who could be likely given his relationship with Holden.

We’re plucking names out of the air here remember with nothing to go on.

Im not sure that would be a good fit. A man who didn't really give youth much of a chance at a club which seem to be wanting youth to be given a chance.
