I may be wrong, but under the FA Cup rules aren't teams suppose to field a team that has a certain number of players who played in the game before the cup game. Perhaps it's the League Cup, does anyone know of this rule?

Think that was in the freight rover, what ever it’s called now last time we played in it. Might be wrong though

I really don’t subscribe to the negative attitude normally . However , with the fixture & injury list the way it is , I’d be very happy for us to play a team full of kids in the cup and if we lose then fine. Getting back on track in the league is far more important  . I understand winning breads confidence etc , but the F.A. Cup is irrelevant this season imo .

Agreed. Let’s concentrate on getting key players properly rested and fit and go and get the next 15 points we need ASAP. More important than a few hundred grand in the bigger scheme of things. We won’t win the FA Cup but we could find ourselves with a very tough end to the season if we pick up 2-3 more injuries. If the reserves/kids win then happy days, play them next round or if our injury and form situation has improved take it seriously at that point.

IMO we shouldn’t have had cup competitions this season anyway.

Hope you're on the right road health wise now.

China are big winners from this. So to a lesser extent (not accusing them of anything) are East Asia, geopolitics wise. Huge difference in disruption to economy and normal life from what I read. Shift of wealth and influence East surely has accelerated in the last year.

Thanks, as far as my health is concerned I try and stay positive, and quit smoking, plenty of walks etc, the thought of so many folk worse off than me, and can't get treatment... well it's a double edged sword  this virus, crippling our hospitals, unfortunately the Chinese still are denying culpability.

What amazes me is just how the rest of the world are so tolerant whilst so many are dying.

I was hospitalised last January and February, nearly cashed in my S.T. and have on going concerns, but no follow up at all, what I do know is China has created the perfect storm for the west, I wonder what they have up their sleeves for 2021?

Hope you are on the road to full recovery and that you get the back up you require.

With Covid it's like no other illness exists which we all know is not the case. It's just very frustrating for all.

Has anyone woundered why so many players are proving positive for the virus, when the players are still spitting and blowing there nose on the pitch, and other players falling in it,

No - because if that were the case you’d have had most players struck down with it during Project Restart.
Not just there being pockets of players catching it as it there are clear examples of them now breaching Covid laws off the pitch.
If some are stupid enough to be pictured on social media, how many others are going round houses and socialising outside of the football environment?

I get that, but many places are saying it’s worse. London had its busiest Boxing Day, 8000 calls as opposed to 5500 last year. Head of London Ambulance saying it’s the busiest they’ve ever been and like I say my friends here in the East saying it’s worse than they’ve known - and January usually gets busier anyway. It’s not like the hospitals are just full, the daily admissions are getting higher every day.

Yep, not intending to suggest that we don't have a major problem, just pointing out that this has been exacerbated by years of underfunding our hospitals , accompanied by hospital closures and a failure to maintain capacity with new builds not fit for purpose. Combine that with increased levels of bureaucracy and huge incompetence from NHS England and it's no surprise we're struggling.

I actually took early retirement in July (was due to be feb but I hung around during the first wave to help) . From Sept I have an email trail including NHS England, Public Health, local Hospitals, Bath, Wilts , Swindon CCG, PCSE and various other departments I've never heard of, because I've been trying to offer my help. Until recently I was a GP, prior to that I was an anaesthetist , so I can work ITU. And I don't want to be paid, made that clear. I've heard nothing. Maybe they've heard of me. Might explain it :).  Given up I'm afraid. And I'm not alone.

As for the figures, many ways you could take issue, but I type way to slowly.

I’m guessing we will find out today / tomorrow what the number of players or staff have tested positive for Covid?
If we have a number of players test positive I guess the cup game on Sunday is unlikely to go ahead ? League game against Preston on 16th should be ok?

I think it either goes ahead or we forfeit the game? Wouldn't bother me if we forfeited the game. The FA Cup, this year in particular, is a distraction we really don't need right now. Just get the next 15 points and move on to next season........hopefully with some kind of Baldrick "cunning" plan.

The season will be suspended soon.  The infection turn rates are frighteningly high and still growing.

I think the recent examples of a growing minority of footballers, yet again, thinking they are above or somehow exempt from the law AND FLOUTING IT (apologies required from Tottenham, West Ham, Man City and Fulham in recent days alone and you can bet it's the tip of the iceberg) will certainly not help the PL/EFL/FA case to continue with football during this Pandemic...............that's before you get to the practicalities of teams having five games in hand over other teams and being expected to complete the season in the same amount of time.

We played Luton on the Tuesday night and by Friday evening they had there results back to call off the game Saturday. If we had tests Saturday today would make sense to have results back. Suppose all depends how quick EFL want to turn results over if they are testing all teams this week.

He is again

How many times have you written this line on this forum in the past 12 months?

About 100 in last week he's done. He way OTT about it all as if life will never return to normal ever.

I don't actually see it being suspended even if there is another 'lockdown' (we are in lockdown now by another name). Europe has managed just fine with games and so can we.

The money in the top flight is too much , it was embarrassing last time with the clubs claiming financial ruin if season wasn’t played out

Businesses turning over multi millions pa are having to close so football is no different. Clubs may go under in the PL I'm sure but that is a consequence of the stupid wages they pay.  Clubs WILL go under in the lower leagues. This pandemic is the worst it's been since it first appeared and is unlikely to disappear anytime soon let alone being under control by Spring as Boris will have us believe.

I don’t disagree and I have little sympathy for clubs who earn the money from tv / European football etc. It’s staggering to think that we’re entering a ‘transfer window’ and Sky and that numpty Jim white will be jumping up and down about clubs spending millions on transfer fees and wages whilst as a country we’re in lockdown. I look forward to the top flight bubble bursting

It barely adversely affects the young and healthy, though I suppose a suspension would be symbolic.

As for @James54De his posts on this subject are curious generally. Seemed to be banging the vaccination drum before, probably has some insider info or contacts.

Ay? What are you about? It seems to upset you that someone has made themselves aware of what is actually happening, as opposed to guessing about what is.
