Dastardly and Muttley
Rumours that he’ll leave Palace at the end of the season. Any chance he’d fancy a DoF role at a club he knows?
pongo88
He’s played for or managed about 25 clubs over the years so I can’t image he knows any of them well. I expect he’s tried his hardest to forget his time at City.

Midlands Robin
He's done a great job at Palace but I definately don't think he's going to take them any further forward. At 73 I definately think he's going to call it a day.

I am fairly certain, as close to 100% certain as one can be, that he will not be living in Croydon. Epsom maybe or Dorking or maybe some little gated close in Kenley but Croydon? More chance of Neil Warnock living in a mobile home in Redcar I would think.
Phileas Fogg
I think he’s quite an underrated manager really. He wasn’t right for the England job or Liverpool but does well at smaller clubs where he has time to implement his ideas. I think Lampard is a very risky appointment for Palace and can see them in a relegation battle.

Any chance he’d fancy a DoF role at a club he knows? He's 73 years old and has a deeply impressive 45 year career as a manager, rather than as a Director of Football. Why on Earth would we offer him a job that he's not done before and has never shown any interest in or aptitude for? If you look at the best clubs in Europe - Barcelona, Bayern, Manchester City, Manchester United etc. - you will see that all of them have Directors of Football who specialise in doing that. It's a specialised role and skillset, not simply something to offer so you have a spare manager at the club in case the other one has a dentist's appointment. If we do appoint a Director of Football, I really hope it is someone with knowledge, attributes and experience of doing that role and who wants to be a Director of Football, not a frustrated manager who'd rather be managing the team. Wheeling out a senior manager to do a novelty turn as Director of Football is the sort of thing I'd expect from amateur and non-league clubs. We have to be more professional and more ambitious. Oh Louie louie
Safe pair of hands for them. They will never be top half. Blimey the guy before him lasted a few games, big name too. Bad call, have something on them to go down if he goes.

RedRock
As one who has been calling for a Director of Football ever since our team just became totally ‘random’ in acquisitions, selections, tactics under Ashton’s and LJ’s tenure. However, I think we’ve all the depth of experience and knowledge required with Nige. I think the emphasis now shifts to a younger up and coming assistant manager. Someone more able to easily connect with the younger team members and has knowledge of cutting edge trends and tactics in the football world. He was staying there at the start of the first lockdown and couldn`t leave and in the meantime has got it all comfy with an awning and things and doesn`t want to now. He`s going to retire there in about thirty years by all accounts.

I wouldn't be against an elder statesman of football being DoF precisely because I feel the most important aspect of the job is about setting out a football identity and philosophy that the club play to consistently over time. I guess what goes against it being someone too elderly is that the DoF should represent continuity and oversee a number of managers and players that inevitably come and go at a club that work within that philosophy. Undoubtedly a very talented coach respected across Europe, but whenever you hear players like Danny Murphy give him praise it's always about how involved he is in coaching the details out on the training pitch. Think Roy likes the close involvement in coaching players too much to do the role. I'd say Glenn Hoddle, but not sure he'd want any pressure given his health. Red-Robbo
He certainly hasn't ruled out another job in football, merely that it is "time to step away from the rigours of top-flight Premier League football" and consider what the future holds. Some sort of advisory/assistance post at a club such as ours might well be in that future. I doubt he is scarred by his first experience here. No one could have done much under the conditions he took over, and I don't think many blamed Hodgson for that period. He did well just to be able to fulfil the fixture list. Super
Very good club manager will probably be more remembered for the Iceland shambles in 2016.
MATT BCFC
Personally see him as quite similar to big Sam to be honest. Great at setting a side up and grinding out enough results to slightly overachieve but awful to watch and probably isn't going to win much. Hes had a good career but personally from a purely watching football to be entertained point of view will be quite glad to not have to watch his sides play. Similar to big Sam, Pulis and Steve Bruce really.

Coppello
He managed here nearly 40 years ago which shows how long he's been around. He's very well to keep Palace well clear of relegation over the past few years but his football has been a bit bland. They've been great at picking up points against big opposition on the road but they've employed similar tactics at home even against poor opposition. Palace have a big rebuild job to do in the summer as half of their squad are out of contract. It could be an interesting project for someone like Howe who could see it as a blank canvas. It will be interesting to see who is next through the door.
