I know he played for local pub teams too, hence rovers signing him. Nice kid tbf. I think he got ill after he retired? Yes, that’s right, cancer or leukaemia iirc. Recovered though didn’t he? Oh Louie louie
I think he recovered dave, not heard of him in years tbh. I can recall being at a do at redwood lodge, and jason eaton, was working there mid 90s. I played it cool at first, 4 pints in i was giving it whats it like to live the dream. Go on talk me through your goal again, only asked him about 7 times. Another nice kid,

GrahamC
Not sure he’s been mentioned yet but Paul Mardon also had a tidy career. Best known with us of course for the goal at Forest but he went on to play a lot of games for both West Brom & Birmingham. Think he was a South Bristol lad, I am sure others will know. Red-Robbo
There's a partial list on Wikipedia, which would certainly yield a half-decent XI. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Footballers_from_Bristol

What we need now is a Bristol South of the River X1 v North of the River X1. And let's not get in a tangle about which river, there's only one river in Bristol. For me. HappyClapper
Marcus Browning and Marcus Stewart. Both Hartcliffe school boys. Unfortunately both picked up by rovers at an early age as our youth system at the time was poor.

Oh Louie louie
Andy johnson, was a brislington kid too i think. If it came down to transfer fees north vs south bristol, be a landslide in souths favour id wager. Bobby ford went for a few quid too once. Who commanded the biggest fee north of the river?

He’s been around, and we were only talking about him the other day. Ipswich, Liverpool, Forest and whichever team he dropped down to in order to play at your Sunday League level . Mind you, his son Brennan appears to have done well - Forest have apparently turned down a £12M bid for him.

Darren Carr, ex-Gas went to Sheffield Utd, as did Steve Yates. We had a plasterer in doing some work and one day he turned up wearing an old Chesterfield shirt, but when I asked him about it and football he just said he liked the shirt. His mate later told me who he was. He wasn’t a great plasterer I can tell you! Edited January 6, 2022 by Davefevs
