Club paid family 'foster' parents...

...do we or other Clubs still have these?

Where a family will be paid to take in young players who have moved away from their family, but not old enough to live on their own.

The Reuben McAllister thread made me think of this.

I guess George Best is the most famous who did this.

Years ago, part of the deal to bring Steve and Tom Richie to the club was the whole family coming down to run a digs for apprentices as well at Steve and Tom.

I know at least 6 apprentices who were in digs at age 15/16 in those days and I'm pretty sure the same applies today.

Yep, for Aberdeen.

City were after him rather than his brother, but they came as a pair.

Steve was a Scottish schoolboy international full back and came to City at 15, Tom was 2 or 3 years older.

Pretty sure Tommy Conway spoke about this in an interview, thanking the couple who took him in? .

He would have been 15 at the time as well

Timeline would fit for the 2020 advert being for Alex Scott

it probably isn’t just for individual cases, always good to have a list if you need it

Yes. Alex Scott was housed by City with a family.

Our very own John Galley looked after the youngsters at Forest.
