Poor that he wasn’t asked.

Anyone who did their research would already know why Williams wasn’t involved, that’s not the case with Klose.

Good to get a win, rest a few & some squad players (Pring, Conway, King) all contributed & staked their claim for selection.

For info the interviewer only asked about Jay and Joe, so Nige being Nige only answered about those two. ?

I'm not sure anyone really forced their way into Saturday's starting line up tonight. Players came in, did their job, and played well.

Pring was decent, but is a quite different player to Dasilva, so deciding who to start at LWB in any game is more subtle than just "who played well in the last one". I expect Dasilva to be back in.

Conway scored two, and impressed as he hustled a second choice Coventry defence, but he's not got Martin's guile or nous, and I suspect in a league game he'll make way for the senior player up front as well

King is player/coach and is in the squad for exactly the role he played tonight: give a first XI player a rest and do a decent shift. Job done, now back on the bench for Saturday.

One place we might see a shift is at RWB. Tanner had a good cameo, and I think we'll now see that position settle down into a Tanner/Wilson choice.

Overall I think Saturday's team will be closer to the Sunderland XI than tonight's.

Really good post.

Obvious that a lot of focus will be on Conway, & it is great that he got 2, but I actually think King showing he can still make a contribution is the biggest plus from last night.

He hadn’t started a game since January & didn’t even last half an hour the last time, I saw several comments beforehand about “I bet he goes off injured” so to play around 80 minutes, & make a decent contribution is very positive at a time when James is out & we will have to manage Williams’ games (no way will be face Wycombe, for instance).

With both Scott & Sykes freed up to play midfield with Wilson & Tanner now fit & it sounding like HNM had a good game, we have a few more options.

That’s the point of a forum - probably not quite hang of it yet?

I appreciate that some like to select their idea of the staring 11 and post it on here but I don’t join in largely because very few posters actually care and quickly forget whatever team others post.

Quick one re Weimann...

He's scored in 3 consecutive games this season.

I know Kodjia scored in 3 consecutive league games a couple of times for us.

But 4 consecutive competitive games? Tammy did it.

Can't be many and it would be great to see Andi keep the streak going.

I have no idea who last scored 5 in 5?!!
