  1. My friend Rob who has learning difficulties was Alberts greatest fan. Birthdays in Robs world are very important so he would always get a card and gift for Albert and Bradley Orr. The day of Alberts birthday he was unusually warming up on the far side of the pitch. Warm up done he short off down the tunnel without coming over to our side. Rob was devastated that he could not give Albert his card and present. One of the stewards could see Robs plight but sadly she mistook Marvin Elliot for Albert. She took him on the pitch to present the card and gift to Marvin who looked bemused, so was Rob. Marvin proceeded down the tunnel. A minute or so latter Albert came sprinting out of the tunnel with a beaming smile ran over to Rob to thank him and make a right old fuss of him and presented Rob with his boots. Smashing bloke, good on you Albert.

  2. Life long supporter and season ticket holder since a small child. My initial disillusionment with BCFC and football in general began in a very strange way some 3-4 seasons ago. I have taken my Down’s syndrome friend to football for many years, he absolutely loves anything Bristol City, we were both paying members for many years of the clubs foundation for the academy, can’t remember quite what it’s real title is. One day sat on the wall outside the ground having a coffee some of the academy youths in their track suits walked past us. Rob in his excitement of all things Bristol City spoke to these lads who proceeded to completely blank him. Not a good move on their part as  Needless to say the subscription was stoped at my first opportunity, numerous phone calls from BCFC ensued trying to entice us back. That was the start, From here on the lack of parking, dross severed up on the pitch and ever declining atmosphere at Ashton gate made me realise it’s just not fun anymore, football has lost its roots and very soul. We are just £££ as the OP suggests. I stayed with it for Robs benefit but can’t say I enjoyed the football experience much. Rob now has trouble walking so we no longer attend AG, can’t say I miss it in the slightest. 60+ years a supporter but now I could not really give a Monkeys Chuff about BCFC or football in general. Still look for results and read OTIB now and again but my love of the game is simply left me. Sad day really modern football has beaten me up.

I remember  Fowlers Bikes up in Kingswood, in Moravian Road. Bought my AP50 from there! Pretty sure they then moved to Temple Meads.

Not sure it was ever Fowlers. It was Averys for many years. I used to play rugby with Gerald the son. Fowlers could of bought it guess but i cant remember that.

Can we give this a rest? Majority of the 791 pages on this thread is just squashing an insect that’s already dead. Why bother?

I don’t get any satisfaction out of it, hence I never really post in here as it’s a sad place.

Bristol Rugby getting involved on social media too I see? Anybody would think we’ve been above Real Madrid for 18 years.

Screw ‘em . Let them fall out of the league again.

Take it for what it is. Its no more than taking the pi55 out of your inferior neighbours. Its given me some great laughs. Lighten up.

They originally owned eastville Ikea but then sold it when they were skint

I am not sure if the gas ever owned Eastville. I have a feeling it was the Bristol stadium company or a very similar name. Seem to recall they were something to do with the dog racing. Could wrong though.

Meanwhile on Tenerife, a group of Mancs and Southampton fans, all from the south, hold sway. Me and a Wolves Fan are attempting all sorts of bribery to get the tv flicked over. The Hotel Manager is a Manc from Santander!!!! Are there any from Manchester?

Same here. I am in a bozzer near southampton. Beged the landlord to put City on the small tele in the corner. Good guy did. No sound on a 19inch better than nought.

  8. With my hobby being Astro photography  a friends 9 year old lad asked me a question the other day. "How far is a light year" I thought about it and gave him the answer it's how far light travels in one calendar year, still puzzled he said "But how many miles is that". Well I said you know where Ashton gate is, yes came the reply. You know where the Memorial Stadium is, yes came the reply. Well that's a light year. Job done nipper fully up to speed.

Hmm, bit of a shortfall there then.

So with my rudimentary maths skills

    £10M debt

    £11.1 Land value

    = £100,000. Tent City.

How many tents can you buy with a hundred grand.

Small wonder he's only been buying plastic chairs, carpets and curtains; he's waiting for that big investor, much in the same way as the previous owners only the club are worse off now and in more debt.

With that sort of money washing around it's possible to upgrade from tents.
