So Delia had a go at the Norwich fans at the AGM for not sticking with their team in bad times like Portsmouth fans. The Carrow Road faithful have since taken to singing Play Up Pompey during games. Will listen out for that today.
I remember Rob Newman having a very successful spell at Norwich during the Robert Chase era. They saw off Vitesse Arnhem (relegated by the Dutch FA yesterday and Bayern Munich before running Inter Milan close in the 1993/94 UEFA cup. They became the only British team to win at. Positive goal difference, from minus one to plus four in one night. Goal difference now better than Man United and Chelsea. Let’s not forget that Blackburn beat us at their place. A game to enjoy, as for the Wells goal … reasons to be cheerful part 5.. COYR

I believe that this next game against Blackburn presents us with the first opportunity to confirm, mathematically, a 10th consecutive season of second tier football.
So far as the drop is concerned we're 12 clear of Birmingham on 22nd, and 11 clear of Huddersfield in 23rd, with 15 points left. Even if we lose on Wednesday we'll likely remain at least 12 clear of the team then in 22nd.
So much for the hyperbolic fears of some regarding relegation a few weeks back.
As for the legendary top 6 finish - again we're currently 13 behind Norwich in 6th so if we win and they lose, we're confirmed as being in the Championship next season. If we draw and Norwich lose then technically we could still make it, but come on. Be serious.
It's possible that due to teams playing each other (for example PNE and Norwich, and Huddersfield and Birmingham) we're actually already technically confirmed to be out of either race, but I've not checked that in detail. Wednesday night is when we could properly confirm it.
What a tame ride it's been. Not once finishing a round of games higher than 7th nor lower than 15th. Since Millwall on 1 Jan we've shifted between 11th and 14th. For all the brouhaha through the season, it's been the mid-table cruise that it was always most likely to be.
Here's to 2024/25 and hopefully something a little more exciting.
A very good graphic. It tells it like it is.
Do you have the same one for Ajax? Sixth place; our dream, their nightmare

many thanks to the supporters from Tilburg, great support. It would be good to know the fixtures when you will attend in advance, I am sure I not the only one who would want to give you a special welcome. It would also be great to visit Brabant with other City fans. I noticed it was international fans day at Sunderland, something City might consider.
Pronouncing Willem II, suggestion

Great memories of the last home game of the season against Coventry. There were a good number of Flint said no T shirts. Happy days

Had me very worried, screen froze with the ball seemingly goal bound. Well done Max

Sparta Rotterdam copied the Sunderland shirt in 1899.

Welcome back Scott Twine, our goal a game January signing.

It’s a sell out. We have have had a number of sell outs this season. West Ham, Forest, Leeds and now Leicester are the games I can recall. I am wondering when we had more home sell outs in a season.

My son managed to get hold of a ticket on the OS on Monday, it must have been a return. I would love to join him and he would love me to give him a lift. It would be his 38th ground!
Just in case there is anyone out there with a spare ticket, please DM me. Thanks in advance.

All sorted. Another ticket was available on the OS. Yay! They get the odd return so if anyone else is looking it is worth checking the site from time to time.

Sorry I missed that thread, it was the Luke Berry feat that triggered me to raise the point.

Well done Luke Berry for scoring in the top five leagues for Luton.
I am wondering if a Bristol City player has scored in each of the top four divisions while playing for City.
i looked up Tom Ritchie on wiki. It says that both he and Chris Garland are among the few players to have played for the club in all four divisions. It does not mention in which leagues he scored his goals. I don’t remember Chris Garland playing below the second division.
Dies anyone know which City players have scored in all four divisions.

Is the referees report made public? You should not go on the pitch. Full stop.
before rushing to judgement I would want to know more. from what I could see they looked confused, I think they may have thought the game was over, there did not seem any threat to players or officials, they became aware of their mistake and left the pitch albeit with a futile hope that they could disappear into the crowd. They deserve to face the consequences which hopefully will be proportionate. I have seen a lot worse but the message needs to be that running on the pitch does not end well.

Scott Twine has been everything I asked Santa for, a goal a game signing in the January window. Next year I will be more specific

Looking for the positives. QPR are there for the taking, our bench looks stronger than usual, Twine, “it’s the Championship … anything can happen”

In 2011 Saints played City at St Mary’s needing only to avoid defeat in order to go the entire calendar year unbeaten at home. City won and later completed the league double at AG.
They will not want us to break another unbeaten run …

“Can you tell us when we score” when the fog at Plainmoor Torquay completely obscured the end where we ran up a 3-0 victory!
Remember the Torquay fan who invaded the pitch for no apparent reason?

It is not listed above. It did happen. I was there

I'm waiting for the drawn version like we had for a cup game last season.
But for anyone wanting commentary, Talksport2 has the game.
Was it Naismith’s goal in the League Cup, wonderful animation

Now listed on Sports10
Apparently Southampton v Watford and Coventry v Sheffield Wed were both listed on Sports 10 yesterday but the streams they showed in each case were Plymouth v Leeds.

It is encouraging that they have tested the rule changes in a live environment. I have no objections to these changes being trialled. I also liked very much the proposal of IFAB to trial a proposed “change of possession” in the event of goal keeper time wasting. They will test two variants. In each case the goal keeper will get a “use it” signal, if they don’t distribute the ball then possession will be lost. They will separately test throw ins or corner kicks to the opposition, with the restart at the point closest to the place where the time wasting was penalised. I prefer corners, that will reduce time wasting.
