    Runners!

Cheers chaps - read this thread and it motivated me to go out for a run. I had my trainers on and was out the door within half an hour so good effort!
  2. I'd agree that the Premier League is significantly higher and their governance team is quite strong. The only slight caveat is that each club has a lot of FFP headroom in the Premier League so there hasn't been any breaches. I'd be interested to see what happens if there was a breach but I would imagine the Premier League would conduct their duties appropriately.
  3. Sorry, I've only just responded to this. It's been a busy week and OTIB isn't the best place to be after two successive losses! It tends to vary by player/club but 40% is about correct. I haven't seen two contracts signed as it's usually included as a clause within their contract but I've only worked in the Premier League.
  4. Good to see Lee Johnson finds this amusing:
  5. I think that's why the clause is in there to deter clubs from loose financial management knowing it will get them in the Premier League. It's deliberately vague so it can be applied in a number of situations. Has this rule changed since the days of QPR and Bournemouth FFP settlements? There's definitely a focus from the EFL on combating FFP failures before the club has benefited from exuberant spending. I know this hasn't happened this year to Villa given they saved themselves by selling Villa Park but there is a noticeable shift in thinking. The revaluation of the stadium point is just a major balls up by the EFL and sadly they can't claw back the provision that they removed. You should assess for an impairment trigger annually for each Cash Generating Unit (ie a stadium or each factory if you are a manufacturing company). An impairment trigger is something that will result in a significant decrease in value to the CGU or the amount of cash it will generate over its life. In reality, there are very few triggers that could arise for a stadium. If you think about it logically, this can only really occur with things such as a sudden unexpected decline in the condition of the stadium or the capacity or ticket price is suddenly reduced. Again, this appears to be a little suspect to me and I would really struggle to justify an impairment reversal. I've worked in the oil and gas industry where impairment reversals are more common given that the amount of future cash an oil asset can generate fluctuates hugely with the oil price. Reversing an impairment of a football stadium doesn't really sit right with me and I would question the reasoning behind the initial write down. Sorry @Mr Popodopolous, I started writing this on my work laptop on Friday and thought I'd revisit it when I got home. I didn't realise that OTIB messages you've drafted weren't carried across different computers so I've had to open up my work laptop to find it!
  6. I'd love this to be the case but I have a suspicion that it will be a roaring success sadly. As someone mentioned previously, it's cricket for people who don't like cricket and it will be on the BBC. The English game hasn't seen anything like that draft before and it did create a buzz. I'm hoping it fails as it obviously undermines the historic county game but, after yesterday, I don't think that it will happen.
  7. Bet @TomF is sat on his sofa wearing his Welsh Fire shirt on with a giant bowl of popcorn watching the draft of the Hundred.
  8. I will get back to you on this @Mr Popodopolous and provide my view, just a bit busy with work (in between checking the cricket score)!
  9. 86-0 to 95-5 in 6 overs. We don't deserve to win the title.
  10. Good start by Somerset but it's the hope that kills you!
  11. 280 to win then. What a terrible couple of days for Somerset.
  12. Good start but we can't let Dawson or Vince get settled.
  13. He's now out for 237. Unbelievable innings and I bet he didn't expect to beat his best first class score at the ripe old age of 43!
  14. Notable mention to Darren Stevens. Kent were 39-5 when he entered the fray and he's currently 191 not out off 188 balls. 140 of those were scored in the last session ?
  15. Another duck for Vijay. Awaiting @TomF's reaction...
  16. Dawson gone now too. I hope we have a strong start as the weather looks a bit better for batting tomorrow.
  17. We need to get this wrapped up asap, Hampshire are starting to build a bit of a partnership.
  18. I wouldn't be surprised to see the ECB dock us points after deeming it to be an unplayable pitch despite the game being in Southampton.
  19. Your wish is Lewis Gregory's command. 18-4!
  20. Get in! I didn't expect Craig to be playing so this is great news.
  21. A couple of quick wickets now and a Warwickshire victory isn't completely out of the question. Given they've played a fair amount of overs now, how many points will they end up on if they draw or lose and what will this mean for the gap at the top?
  22. I guess it’s a bit of a catch 22 though. If they don’t get an overseas and Tres came in and flopped, fans would be claiming the board haven’t given their all to win the title. There’s definitely pros and cons to it all. Today was a huge day with regards to the title race.
