I think Aden split up with Mrs Pack’s sister and started going out with Chanel Cresswell (actress).

I played with Marlon and Aden in the BCFC golf day a few years ago.

Aden - loud, very full of himself, as expected....

Marlon - pretty quiet, reserved, and a genuinely nice guy. A pleasure to be with.

Both were dog toffee at golf.......  😆

Also a mention for George Tanner so consistent, reliable, very rarley gets beaten 1v1 for me could easily make a step up a level for a lower Prem side

Did I read somewhere that George Tanner is pretty much at the top of the league for defending one v ones?

Do we know anyone who might have those stats to hand.....? 😉

Stoke v Bristol City (and all Championship final games) changed from 3pm to 12:30pm.

You’ve got to feel sorry for Plymouth fans having to get to Hull.

I've thought about it for a bit.

    Nah.....

Exactly. I understand an argument that says if someone is physically fit, mentally able and has been on Benefits for years, not attempted to find a job, smokes 40 fags a day (two of them joints), gets pissed five nights a week, few lines of Charlie, four all-inclusive holidays a year, drives a Range Rover Sport and eats in swanky restaurants once a week in addition to their Executive Box at the Gate then the balance is clearly wrong.

Just checking all of this is ok as long as you aren't claiming benefits?

The wife needs a little convincing........ 🤪

In just more annoyed that as a club we are once again flip flopping with our approach. If youre going to loan players out, fair enough. If you're going to insist a manager has to utilise the academy and that there is a clear pathway then fair enough. But don't flip flop between different approaches based on who the manager is. Have a club approach that a manager has to adhere too.

How about we manage players individually, and do what is best for their progress, and therefore the club.

Surely that is just good management?

I watched a very interesting video on De Zerbi where Brighton players are encouraged to literally stand still with their foot on the ball until they are pressed and space is made available. What we don’t have at the moment is the speed of passing and advancing once that space has opened up, which of course can only come with time and practise

The best I've seen at standing still to make space while others moved, is Messi - Modric a close second.

Both, then had short bursts that seemed to create something every time.

    Not bad role models..... 🥴

    No I said "early signs"

Those signs being that at Oxford and MK he doesn't appear to have introduced many academy players and since he's been here he's not given a single minute to Yeboah and others. Those are just facts.

His comments about Yeboah suggests to me he doesn't trust youth players.

Is it a trust, or a time to assess thing?

In the relatively short time that he was at each club, do we know if they had any Academy players that had enough quality to step into 1st Team Football?

With the obvious investments that we have made in the HPC / Academy, I'm trusting (praying) that our Academy players are further down the First Team football pathway than either Oxford or MK.

In an ideal world, should be coaching those already here to be better.  We have two in Bell and Mehmeti who could save us splashing out, especially as both are young with plenty of upside.

    Agreed.

On the basis that we have brought in a 'progressive' coach (effectively for the whole club structure), do you think we have existing players that will thrive under what seems to be a different playing philosophy?

  9. Really disappointed by the nature of the result, but do feel encouraged by some of the football I am seeing.

Too much emotion about NP circumstances to be balanced, but think I see a higher ceiling to the football that LM will try to play.

It isn't one style or another (NP/LM) - we still have that counter attacking quality in the group, but think some of our players' lack of technical quality might be exposed.

I'll bite my lip and give it until the end of January to have a better view on it....

It was not a bad performance.

It was a typical Bristol City performance of this season, based on the ability of the squad we have / have available.  Full of endeavour, sticking in a game, working hard, having the odd good spell - we have more good spells against the poorer teams, less against the better teams.  I honestly don’t think Southampton were on the ropes.  If I second guess you and refer to the period of the game where we fashioned our chances, Conway, Sykes, Conway….Southampton created chances, more chances in that period than us.

It is possible to highlight positive things (as you’ve done), and it’s possible to highlight negative things (as others have done).  The performance contained both.

I see a couple of differences in “tactics”, but I don’t think they are necessarily leading to the Eureka moments some are making out.

LM looks like he’s a good fit to continue Nige’s work.  It will be a bit different, but so far it appears to be pretty similar.

    All imho.

The question for me is whether the club 'ceiling' is now higher with Liam Manning at BCFC rather than Nige, and why?

  11. Reading through the topic about best away grounds got me thinking and smiling....

My daughter has a list of Away Ground food with ratings....... 🤣

She even has a sub-list specifically for Balti / Curry pies....

Portsmouth are currently top of her list of 9 - any challengers?

    New Wembley….2015 😉

Seriously though Filbert Street, the Dziekanowski FA Cup game.  I don’t go away very often, that was great.  Absolutely soaked.

    That game at Filbert St......

Asked a Copper for a 'safe, away' pub - walked into a sea of blue that went deathly quiet... 🙄

Got a taxi to Filbert St 'Away End, please' - he said 'I'll drop you here, just walk around that corner'...... a walk through a 'noisy' Home End....... 🙄

Got back to the 'safe' car park (soaking wet)- car broken into, stereo gone, had to drive back with the seat belt through the door handle to keep the door closed..... 🙄

Still one of the best away days / grounds for me.... 🤣

Every win we’re talking about the playoffs

Every defeat and it’s relegation and doom and gloom.

We are Bristol City - it’s what we do ?

    Healthy culture, positive attractive football......

There must be a point in the future when that's not enough, and we demand more than play offs..... or sack everyone!

We are Bristol City - it's what we will do ?

Probaly best we have not been awarded one.

Why some footballers 'choke' during penalty shootouts: Brain scans reveal those who miss are overthinking the consequences of missing the shot

    • A penalty is one of the most pressurised individual events in all of sport
    • There have been many high-profile misses such as Southgate at Euro '96
    • Researchers found some people activate the pre-frontal cortex in their brain
    • This is responsible for long-term thinking and leads to nerves and apprehension
    • People who trigger this region of their brain are more likely to fluff their attempt

Sounds like me playing golf - just can't get Chris waddle and pizzas out of my head.....
