  1. Darrell Clarke really is the perfect match for them. I've never known someone so suited to managing Bristol Rovers - that's both a compliment and a criticism! You have to begrudgingly give him credit. I don't think he'd succeed anywhere else as a manager though. No real evidence for that prediction but just a feeling I have.

I still don't think they'll finish in the top three. Hopefully when things do start to go pear-shaped, they turn on him. As there was even a few times this season where he was getting a lot of flack from some of them which is quite unbelievable!

in my mind if anything our academy players get an easier ride than most.

I think it's the opposite. Reid and Burns are written off by a lot of people when they've been given limited opportunity and have done well when given the chance. Look at how well Burns is doing on loan and how great Reid was against Fulham. Reid has been far more influential to us this season in his cameos than his competitor within the squad, Freeman, has in countless minutes on the pitch.

Judging a midfield player as poor after our midfield looked very poor in a game is an excuse?

What is a legitimate criticism in your mind if that isn't?!

Singling him out when not at the game and then people at the game saying he wasn't any worse than anybody else, that's not legitimate criticism.

    Bobby has been great recently.

It's people looking for a reason to criticise him, rather than actually witnessing something to criticise.

They said that on PW tonight. Believe it when you see it - 8k tops.

It has sold out to be fair. But it's easter weekend and they're in the automatics - you'd think they would be able to at least get close to doing so.

  5. I'm one of those people that love it when the Gas fail but also don't really mind when they have a bit of success. I wanted them to move to UWE (although the 'We've got a new stadium' chant against us in Sep 2013 is always so funny to look back on now) and would love us both to be competing in the top two divisions. For a city our size, it really should be the case.

Whether this turns out to be as good as it looks is definitely up for debate. The seedy past Hamer has and also the fact nobody really knows what they're worth definitely should bring about doubts. However, the Al-Qadi guy spoke very sensibly and seemed smart in his interviews. They might not be rich but he can't be much worse than Nick Higgs... can he?

    Meanwhile...

I moaned about someone saying they had given up. Very different from expressing frustration and concern, which is clearly both justified and understandable.

A sense of inevitability has loomed over the club since the summer. It's no surprise people are feeling resigned. SC has been let down by the board and we now face the consequences.

I stated there are 23 games to go and we are in the relegation spots in goal difference. Which bit of that makes me a happy clapper? If quoting the facts makes me a happy clapper, then I guess that's what I am.

Those who have read my previous posts will know I try to offer a realistic perspective without gravitating to either extreme.

You moaning about people being frustrated and seriously concerned about the state we're in, is what makes you one.

23 games to go and only in the relegation places on goal difference. Well done on giving up.

Well done on being a happy clapper.

23 games on from our god awful summer and our position is no surprise, even though the small amount of players we do possess are reasonably talented. No reinforcements, no confidence, mismanaged by the higher-ups. We've brought it all upon ourselves.

Now your talking sense Jordan and you are 100% correct and we need to know straight from the horses mouths i.e.; SC and SL exactly what went wrong with recruitment pre season and we need total honest and not the wild speculation and conspiracy theories from the usual shit stirrers.

I've posted on here a few times that one of those Q&A sessions are needed, just to clear the air. Otherwise there will be a continual sense of frustration, especially from moaners like me. Those Q&A sessions usually helped clear a few things up - even just admitting they got it wrong and will do all they can in January to rectify it would be appreciated. It may seem obvious but saying it publicly would help, instead of the eerie silence we'd have from behind the scenes since the end of last season.

A few of the supposed ITK's were claiming there was a fallout behind the scenes in the summer, and I remember someone saying they wouldn't be surprised if SC goes. The air needs to be cleared, in my opinion.

So why is Cotterill banging on about mid-table or better. Who's believing it?

Remember his interview in pre-season where he was talking all positive but didn't sound very passionate compared to his usual self? I think he was just trying to convince himself and the players to try and rekindle the positivity around the club but everyone, including Cotterill, knew the reality we faced after the utter shambles of the summer transfer window.

We still get the odd win and play well, but the momentum has completely evaporated, and I do truly think everything is down to that window. If we'd have kept the likes of Cunningham, JET, Elliott, we'd be comfortably mid-table in my opinion. If we'd actually strengthened (Kodjia forbid such a thought), we'd have had a good chance of top half - a lot of the media was very positive about us in pre-season so that's not just the bias of a City fan. One permanent transfer is inexcuasable. I still rate the small squad we have but they're fighting a losing battle and the confidence has completely gone.

It's actually the first defeat in 4 games.

Bad day, but Cotterill retains the support of the vast majority of fans.

It's not Cotterill fault. It's the club as a whole.

Managers come and go but the shambles behind the scenes continues. Last season was seemingly an anomaly because we did the exact opposite of that this year. No surprise we're getting the exact opposite type of results on the pitch!
