  1. I'd like Steve Lansdown to sell up and major changes at the club.... BUT I've watched us worse than we are now. I watched us in the old 4th Division, I watched us with even more boring and sterile managers, I watched us on worse runs, with worse players and I can even name a worse chairman! So I'll continue to watch us. It's what I do for 2/3rds of the year - and as I explained elsewhere, it isn't just about the football.
  2. Therein lies the problem as explained in the first line. I think we could have the most experienced coach in the world advising Manning; as long as Tinnion's recruiting the players and fulfilling that DOF role, it won't work in the long run.
  3. Always been a streak of masochism in following City
  4. People often say that, but as the 99% owner, Lansdown had to approve Dawe's recommendation, so in that sense, yeah, he was appointed by Lansdown.
  5. I suppose the real tragedy was it was all so unnecessary. If Pearson had us bumping around the relegation zone or in that area, I might agree that he had taken us as far as he could. But, to the contrary, the slow trend was of upward improvement. It was a steady rebuild. A reformation. A really good manager can make average players perform well, which I think we have seen in dribs and drabs this season. A poor manager will make average players look below average, which is what we've definitely seen in the last three games. We can only hope that Manning is learning that you can't keep doing the same thing and expect a different result. As for me, I've adopted the @Fordy62 approach of not caring as much about the club and its results. I looked at yesterday's result, didn't follow the game that closely, but read some of the comments from those that had and friends who were there and shrugged it off with a disappointed curse word and got on with enjoying my weekend. I've toyed with the idea of not renewing the season. I know some of my matchday companions aren't. I probably will though as the ritual of the day and its social/drinking dimension are part of my life. Luckily, I don't go to watch Bristol City to see entertaining football!
  6. I'm in Torquay. Pouring with rain. But I reckon I'm having a better time than if I eas at the Gate.
  7. I think Fam would've stayed - or at least he claims he would - but the club had to do a radical Post-Covid reduction in playing costs. I remember his last games where he seemed very disgruntled and hardly put in an effort up field. Thing is. he may not have attacked much in his last season, was still a better defender than most of those we employed to fulfill that role.
  8. Dunno about that last assertion. Murray made 40 appearances for a promotion-bound side, but Coppell next season didn't want him. Louis made 27 appearances for Coventry, then a league above us, swerved the Tinnion managerial car-crash but then returned to a revitalised Gary Johnson side that got promoted. I'd say both made reasonable career choices there and both went on to enjoy lengthy and successful times at City after deciding to return. Which incidentally disproves all those posters who say "never go back" when talking about players or managers.
  9. Or an Ecky Thump one like Maynard himself. TBH the thing that really annoyed me was the made up charge that City fans attacked his mother in the stand and threw a bottle at her. Something witnessed by no one whatsoever.
  10. Fam sort of switched off when he knew his future wasn't here and cruised to the end of his time here, but at least he didn't badmouth the club and slander fans like Maynard. We got decent service out of him for three-and-a-half seasons, I bear him no ill will. As an African, there's no reason why he should buy into the Bristol/Cardiff rivalry.
  11. Odd booing Joe Bryan in my opinion. Some fans act like jilted lovers when players leave to further their careers.
  12. I have acquired a t-shirt produced by adidas for Russia's 2028 Uefa finals bid. Er, there won't be many of them about!
  13. I'm guessing adidas's line of Paul Pogba branded boots will be heavily discounted as of now.
  14. I never see the point of booing former players unless they leave us under contentious circumstances or slag the club or city off. They're just people doing a job. It seems so petty and tinpot to routinely boo ex-playets. Gas-type behaviour. If he acknowledges us City fans, he'll get a brief clap back for the courtesy. But that's it. During the game, he's just another Cardiff player and I hope he has a shocker.
  15. He looked pretty lost in his one league start (v Swansea) and just totally didn't impose himself in his two quite lengthy sub appearances thereafter. That said, 3 league and one cup game is not enough time to totally write off and clearly another loan rather than just selling him would - in hindsight - have been a better option. He was with us 5 years ago and although he'd done great at L2 level with Colchester, I didn't necessarily see how he'd develop. Other players who looked exciting prospects for us five years ago, have not pulled up any trees since. It's an inexact science predicting how young players will develop and I'm not going to beat up anyone at the club at the time who saw what I did - a L2 player who looked like he was really struggling to adapt to Championship football. Szmodics is 28 now and right on what is usually the peak performance year as a striker. You can do no more than shrug your shoulders and say the time and place just wasn't right here in 2019. Over the 50+ years I've followed City there are lots like that.
  16. All I'll say is that 'have the NME ever done a one-page special on the Taunton music scene?' No - I rest my case. These days, Taunton is a soulless dump and Yeovil is a depressing dump. In my opinion. Yeovil's still got a better music/art/nightlife scene though. As long as you avoid its remaining pubs. Edit: Jenny Agutter and both my daughters were born in Taunton though, so that earns it some plus points.
  17. Better bands than Taunton, that's for sure.
  18. I think he could develop into a very tidy player, but he needs to play more than in U23 matches. This is a welcome move by the club. Hopefully he'll really shine at Bath and that will boost his confidence for an eventual reintegration here.
