Thought Marv's take on his contract situation was fairly interesting, you don't normally hear the players viewpoint on these things. Wonder if he will get offered a new contract ?
Lots of passion for the club but as pointed out on here not good enough skill, I don't think he will.

He hasn't persuaded L, Steve to change our name and drop the "City" has he? Perhaps it's an Egyptian thing??
I hope so, as the forum suggests. OTIB!
-
Just the sort of bloke we need, our team are far to nice.
He does look like a guy who's done time doesn't he
-
Why?
Seems like a hard ***, i can just see some tasty challenges now until then.
-
three-and-a-half year contract at 29 years of age? things are going to get messy!
-
Who coached you?
I used to play/train with Weston U18's at college, i'm going through the 1st4sport Level 1 Award in Coaching Football (QCF).
-
Where have you acquired such in depth tactical knowledge?
Football coaching under 9's and football manager

A successful 433 though normally depends on two good wingers and one out and out striker, rather than three strikers!
It would certainly make us a threat going forwards! ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK!
It depends how the 4-3-3 is played as three strikers can be played if the 4-3-3 is aimed at passing through the middle, the strikers would have to link up with each other and obviously be fairly close in position to do that. The other option could be finding a forward like JET who can naturally play on the wing and cross the ball into the box and play an out wide 4-3-3, how many strikers have you seen can cross the ball and are pretty pacey.
Shock horror, no wingers, why does that sound familiar?
Joe Bryan and Wes Burns are the closest thing we have to developing wingers, although under SOD we did play JET on the wing and with a 4-3-3 if i remember. The ball ended up mostly in our own half and the defence cost us, 4-3-3 is a difficult position to defend if you give the ball away.

Exactly. Not every player can be a young one. Barnett has experience and is proven at this level. The main thing is he is the type of striker we need. It's also rare to be able to find a target man type striker that still weighs in with his fair share of goals as well.
I must admit I don't see JET, TB & SB all playing in the same starting 11 on a regular basis. Certainly not away from home anyway. If the do we will be a real attacking threat. It's still nice to have a different option though.
I remember Cotterill saying at the fans Parliament meeting when he was at QPR he went over to france to see how they played. He spoke to the manager of Montpelier HSC who virtually played 4-3-3 all season and didn't use wingers. That might be an idea Cotterill is toying with, then you would need more strikers.

There's a big difference between thinking someone may fail vs wanting them to buddy.
This is just exactly the type of signing i hoped we wouldn't be making. Hoping the comments I found from the Posh fans are accurate ones and he's a hit here.
At 28 though I'd hope we think very carefully before offering him a long term deal even if he does do well.
He's a physical presence up front, and can score goals. 28 or even 29 years of age is fine for any striker on a 2 year contract, look how old Stead is even now.

First things first, shake hands and make up with Cunningham, "I'm so sorry, the gaffer told me to get stuck in in the second half".

Full of plastics - I bet most of them don't turn up next week.
It was stated that the 3 ex and current presidents flew in on the same Airforce 1 flight, I hope for their sake that they brought Bruce Willis with them.
"So then, what do you think of Nelson Mandela?"
"He was some guy that got black south african's rights weren't he? innit...."
-
Agreed there are a lot of gangs, just stay on the tour route and you can't go wrong. A girl i used to work with got held at gunpoint in Peru for money just by going 5 minutes off course. She was lucky that was all they wanted.Hmmm you think? Not many countries, in fact none where car hire companies warn you to stay in gear at traffic lights at night because of car jackings. Only country I have been to with car jacking hot spot warning signs.
Edit
I forgot to mention the great whites

Have you been to South Africa recently?
Considering it hasn't quite got as bad as Zimbabwe, and the fact it is safe to go on holiday. I think it's better than back when Mandela was trying to change this don't you?
-
Minutes applause at all games over the weekend.
Highly disrespectful if we didn't applaud on tv
-
What actions exactly are you referring to ?
He almost tried to wage war against white South African's, some regarding him as a terrorist for encouraging rallies that caused violence. It was all for a very very valid purpose was it not?
-
Mugabe is a **** of the highest order.
Yes, he and Mandela were allies before both took office.
However, one took the path of vengeance and retribution. The other took the path of forgiveness and united his country.
The two men cannot be compared.
If you were a black South African at the time of apartheid, and you were treated like utter s..., weren't allowed to vote, own property or get a decent education because of your race what would you do? If you had to resort to violence to lead a normal life because nothing else would work would you? They did what they did because they wanted something better that would not come any other way for them, they fought for, and got change.

A strong influence in the combat against racism, ended apartheid and gave many a fair chance to live as they deserved. RIP

No way they'd let that nutter near BCFC.
I know, that's why my first choice is Warnock i could understand if they were looking to take a trip to the dark side to see what could happen though.
-
If i could set his personal opinions of facism aside, i would have Di Canio. If we are looking to change the club then it needs to be focused, maybe an over discplined manager could be good for the club. Every business needs to have it!

The City fan part of me finds this quite amusing and, in all honesty, it's not a great place for a supermarket with regards to traffic and location plus there are many supermarkets in that area already.
The Bristolian part of me cannot believe how difficult it is to get anything done in this City. It's officially the best place in the country to live but has the worst traffic congestion in the country. It's the best place to live but don't dare change ANYTHING. I am still utterly bewildered that AV has had so many problems. I was working in Derby yesterday and that puts us to shame for sporting and leisure facilities. Pride park is nice as we all know but they're building a velodrome which can act as a 12000 seat concert venue. The council backed it unanimously as it was 'for the benefit of the whole city'. Take notice red trousers.
If the sags had shown us any support over Ashton Vale, they would have my support over this but they didn't so.....

YOU TOOK THE PISS GAS
NOW YOU GOT ONE TOO.
Great post this, i agree with you there is already 2 Sainsburys local on Gloucester Road and a Morrisons local (agreed it's convienience but they still sell the essentials) and Stoke Gifford Sainsburys isn't exactly miles away. It is a real pity we've become the green and underdeveloped capital of the south. I hope George Ferguson chokes on his own words when he said he will build an arena in our city, i doubt it will happen in his time in office that's for certain!
-
I'll bet the G*s stadium will be put on hold till next year, and ours will start conveniently or before theirs begins. We have the green party to thank for the build race.

I got given a conditional discharge once at an away game, I was picked out of a crowd and arrested, why?? Simply because two coppers apparently heard me swearing in the street and at that exact same time a lady pushing a buggy was visibly distressed and had to cross the street. I was basically told by my brief, the two coppers would have been on overtime, by arresting me they would have got a nice afternoon at the station filling out paperwork instead of doing some work. Easy money. I was screwed as it was two coppers word against my own. I now got a conviction that has affected me in life simply for attending a football game.
Should have gone to court and challenged this if so, judicial precedents would find you innocent in minutes if there was any lack of evidence.

What amazes me is the part time understanding the players have of each other. For me JET didn't even bother turning up, El-Abd was all over the place leaving the opposition unmarked and hoofing the ball about as much as Fontaine. In fact we left the whole of their team completely unmarked with about 3 shots on target all game.
