  1. Brought to improve things. He hasn’t.
  2. Fickle? How many were 1) crying out for Pearson to be sacked? 2) wanted Manning as manager? Most fans have been lumbered with a situation they didn’t want.
  3. Sack. We’re confusing two arguments on this thread. SL, JL, BT are deluded with no track record in successful football decision making. Ideally they’d all go in my opinion. This club needs a re-boot. However the question is should Manning be sacked and, well, he took the job… the remit (however deluded) was clear… get this top-end championship squad performing like a top-end championship squad. If he thought that wasn’t achievable he shouldn’t have taken the role. Is he achieving that clear objective today? No. Do I think he will by the end of the season - no. Does he have the maturity and experience to find a way to change his way or compromise to improve things? From what I’ve seen - no way. Are there fundamental problems at this football club and is Manning the man to stand up to the hierarchy and get them sorted? No…. He knows what happens to people who challenge the leadership here (and still took the job!). Is his brand of football modern? Yes. Exciting? No. Unique? No…. It’s copying flavour of the month without creativity. Bottom line for me, have I enjoyed watching us on his watch - no. If we’re a run of the mill championship club… let’s at least make it enjoyable.
  4. They’re somewhere in Bath aren’t they? I can’t keep up.
  5. Or to paraphrase The Who…. “Meet the new three-year-plan, the same as the old three-year-plan”. Would be great if that happened but 3x 14th place finishes seems more likely to me!
  6. My impeccable sources tell me that Tinnion told Ian Gay but he forgot to pass it on…
  7. Agree. This has been awfully handled by Palace… I don’t think that even City would make such an undignified mess of getting rid of a manager… or would we/have we?
  8. This! We were having our best spell and finally getting going…. But the subs seem to be made almost robotically regardless of the match situation.
  9. Presumably he’ll have to get in line behind the “fitting tribute” we were promised for Terry Cooper (an equally important manager in our club’s history and shamefully ignored by the current hierarchy).
  10. Seeing as lots wanted him here it’ll be interesting to see whether he can get a bigger, quicker bounce than we’ve seen here.
  11. It’s just become an extension of the BS publicity/spin machine. Twentyman was the only person to challenge club employees. Surely Geoff would have asked Tinnion to reflect on “top end championship squad” and the success or otherwise of the managerial change. Obviously Tinnion wouldn’t have answered, stormed out of the studio never to return… until we make the premier league…. Or until he was next invited (whichever comes quicker).
  12. We won’t get relegated but as others have said, finishing lower than last season and taken few points will be a massive backward step and make the managerial change seem even more baffling (if that’s possible!). Should we go out of the cup, we’ll be on a stinking run with a long series of dead-rubbers ahead. If that’s the case then it would be nice to see some attacking, entertaining football and a few kids given their chance… what do you reckon are the chances of that happening?
  13. My concern is that everything is “textbook” rule-based football. Do the players have the freedom to break those rules? To take risks? Does the manager have the creativity to break or bend his own way of doing it? LM keeps talking “bravery”… personally, I havens seen much of it.
  14. JL will sack Manning for not giving them enough time off.
  15. So we’ve planned and celebrated the 30 year anniversary of a third round win over the worst Liverpool team in generations…. But…. Still no “fitting tribute” to Terry Cooper, as promised at the time of his passing. Tinpot, clueless and classless are the hierarchy running “our” club.
  16. Hopefully we’re not heading back to the future and collecting number 10’s….
  17. For balance….. be careful what you wish for!
  18. Idehen, Taylor-C, Pearson and Kadji despite all being young feel like “blasts from the past” to me. Wonder whether any of them have a future here?
  19. I think the fact that goalkeeping has changed makes it confusing. Max seems to me a very modern style keeper. Commanding your box and claiming crosses now seems far less important than the ability to play the ball, start moves and be quick about it. I like him and never understand all the fuss. Realistically there’s no reason he shouldn’t be our keeper for many years to come. I’m happy to go with Shay Given’s view!
  20. Let’s just be grateful this didn’t happen 6 weeks ago. I’m sure the hierarchy here still believe in him!
  21. Difference between the united situation and ours is that their new money/people will come in and run football operations. The Glazers have effectively admitted they aren’t experts in this side of things. At Ashton Gate, I can’t see a scenario where the current owners give up control of football to a minority (or any) investor - so we’d have the same structure and people running football. Why would anyone invest?
  22. They keep talking about a museum…. Why not combine the two!?!?
  23. Surely more time in press conferences is less time to “mentally overload” the players? (or whatever his phrase was).
  24. Why is it the “managers” always do well here compared with “head coaches”? More to the point, why do those running the place keep going back to head coaches??
