  1. Wow we have two new gas threads now.. not seen that in a while - really should rename this thread "All Things Rovers Related" and sticky it.
  2. there is a large thread already.... !
  3. This is a old thread, and the only one on Rovers where everything Rovers related gets put - that's one of the main reasons it's so large. I'd rather this than like it used to be with lots of Rovers threads clogging the front page - maybe they could just sticky it and label it "Everything Rovers Related" so it's out of the way ?
  4. They own a 31% share in a Jordanian bank - think of it as owning a 31% stake in a Welsh bank, it's money... but not a lot.
  5. The kid seems ok - we all have embarrassing dads at times... luckily not caught on camera and uploaded to mytube on the interweb
  6. Yep, this is why UWE is a good location for a ground though, the Filton development, and all the new housing SG keeps dumping on our Northern boundary does not look set to stop, also great motorway and rail access.... cannot see any major housing projects our side likely to happen.... well ever to be honest !
  7. Funny to think that dinky little Dundry transmitter is still going strong and serving so many people.... walk past it 2-3 times a week, I should salute it next time ..... no salute emotion !!! OTIB really ?
  8. They refused to give details of the takeover - incl payments to the directors and loans incl etc - we will have to wait and see.
  9. They can try, would be foolish not to, but a lot of Rovers fans seem to think UWE needs Rovers more than Rovers needs UWE - I understand they are excited to get rid of the potential of administration if Higgs failed in the Sainsbury's case and lost the Mem due to loans being set against it, but they seem to have gotten a little carried away.
  10. Don't UWE own all the Watershed and a lot of the harbour side land and buildings ? I have no idea how they came into ownership but anyway, they are not short of a bob or two.
  11. UWE won't sell the land, they aren't stupid. They want joint sports facilities, gym etc with campus shops and a stadium to hosts events/sport in - they asked Rovers to come in on the project to share costs, and give you guys a home, you pay rent and have a share of stadium income... win, win for you and UWE. Your owners don't have the money to buy the land, and why would a Jordanian bank (that your owners family have a 36% stake in) agree to buy naming rights ? I imagine UWE will look elsewhere if you are not interested, I know that they have thought about a indoor athletic stadium with a aim of getting competitions bought to Bristol as well as providing all the facilities they wanted for thier campus/students..... who knows maybe SL and Bristol Sport might get in on that as we need a Athletic stadium in Bristol and it's something on Bristol Sports radar I am sure. Rovers are not the only people who can give UWE what they want.
  12. Worse case scenario they own the mem and a football team to manage, best case, they get a nice new stadium, with multiple income options in a great location with a big and growing catchment area. So it was probably a good deal... i'd have done it myself if that scratch card this morning would had been more than £5
  13. I have mentioned this a few times on this thread after the announcement, seems the blue few are slow to catch on.
  14. They don't own all the bank, they have a 36% stakes in it. Anyway, the banks assets are a little over $1 billion but they not going to be used to pay for English football players. The bank made $22 million after tax profit in it's last accounts published. The new owners have some money, but they are not filthy rich.
  15. The family own a 36% stake in a Jordanian bank that has assets of around $1.3 billion - it's not the same as being worth that amount as the assets will be bank branches, computers, buildings, stocks, pensions, shares etc - if you want some context the families Jordanian bank made a after tax profit of around $22 million in 2014, and we are not even sure if all the family is involved or just the new president (after all if you have a few million and like football, buy a club, it's like football manager but bigger and better).
  16. a more innocent age "a rebrand to Bristol Black Arabs would be pretty ******* cool?"
  17. Their main wealth is the AJIB (who bought HSBC Jordan) after tax that entire bank made just over 22 million in profit. Put that into context of our clubs accounts and losses, and you can see that these are not wealthy people who are going to plough lots of money into the club. More likely a sensible pair of hands that will inject cash and steer them safely, but nothing extravagant.
  18. ITV also saying they are billionaires, yet still not seen anything to back this up... where are they getting this, is it just hype/rumour gotten out of hand ?
  19. Their moderator is not to bright is he ! Maybe he should read a few pages of this thread, he might actually learn a little. "on a par with... Man utd, Chelsea,,,,, " love to see his face when someone points out the facts....
  20. Been listening to him a bit more - the new owner sounds like a nice guy.
  21. To be fair he seems genuine, talking about not large pots of money, bringing on players, academy etc just hope that Higgs and co have not mugged him and he has done some due diligence (though 40k for the conference final ? suggest he's let himself be swayed a little by his heart and not mind).
  22. With success will come the fans, it's getting the success. Anyway, about time we started getting more people interested in local sport and away from being Manc supporters - lets see what Bristol Sport really can do !!!
  23. I know, it's been a hell of a long path - but things just feel like they are happening for both teams - can only be good for Bristol.
  24. the billion is the banks assets, not how much the owner has. He can no more use the banks assets on Rovers than SL can use his firms assets on City... Anyway, it's good news, about time this City had two decent clubs and not 2 amateur joke outfits.
