Oh no, he did. In amongst all the ******* rubbish about 90s boy bands and Steve Lansdown he says he actually meant that 2 seasons ago Charlton Athletic had 2 games where their attendances were higher than our highest attendances. Imagine talking about attendances when your own team haven’t averaged over 10k for 45 years and struggle to fill the tiny ground they have. ?

So what did we learn yesterday… Charlton are bigger than Millwall. In fairness we all know that but still have no idea why the Slaghead brought it up? City are tinpot because…. We used to have a Chairman who was a reasonably talented musician. 2 groups of mascots (WWFC and Coldseal) had a fight on our pitch. We got relegated a few times. We once got into a spot of financial difficulty from which we survived. Well thanks for that Hot Air, that really told us ?

Stating wildly incorrect attendance figures, mocking City for not being in the top flight in the last 30 years when Rovers have never been there, talking about others club size in relation to City when you’re on a par with the likes of Lincoln and Port Vale. Its just a bit tragic after 3 games of the season really. Still, I suppose it’s exciting for you to be above Exeter and Cheltenham for once.

Historically Charlton are a bigger club, not sure what that has got to do with anything? Last season they averaged about 7k lower than us. So unlike a Gashead to get his numbers ridiculously wrong eh ?

Our attendances and theirs are calculated on tickets sold. As we’ve seen often especially at certain times of the year (ie Summer Holidays, Christmas) not everyone who has a ST will be there. To suggest that we only get, on average, 12-15k though is rubbish. They love to point out that we are merely ‘treading water’ in the Championship but would they get the sort of crowds we get if they were in the bottom 10 in this division for the best part of 3 years? No chance.

I remember this well, used to be a regular thing. The matchday announcer would start reading out “todays attendance is…” and everyone would start laughing when the figure was announced, a few shouts of disbelief mixed in. I’m sure it wasn’t just us tbf, lots of clubs probably did it. Today attendances are calculated on tickets sold where as back then it was people through the turnstiles.

This used to be a regular Gas lie 20 years ago. Any estimates of away support would always have various Gasheads claiming the actual figure was higher because of mythical ‘Gas in the ome end’….despite there always being plenty of space in the away end with the rest of the mouth breathing turnips.
