Implicit from the tone of Wael's big announcement a couple of months ago, they plan to blame others (NIMBYs, anti-Rovers councilors, etc) when the season starts and they don't have consent to use the stand, despite having sold season tickets for it. Contrary to their statement at the time, "Planning permissions and building regulations have all been submitted", that wasn't actually true, it was a big lie, but they went ahead and started work anyway. “Given the scale of the development, timelines are tight and we will be doing all we can to ensure that the new structure is in place as quickly as possible, with minimum disruption. That said, as with any development of this nature, there is always the chance of delays that are out of our control, but we have done all we can to look to mitigate this risk. "Planning permissions and building regulations have all been submitted, and the club is working with our Safety Advisory Group to make sure that all regulations are covered as part of the build process, so that the new development can be signed-off for use at the earliest possible opportunity. "We would like to ask supporters to remain patient whilst we work through these improvements, but the expectation is that they will be completed in time for the new season." Condensed version: we will bully our way through this, regardless of due process or the rights of our neighbours.

No the robin/suspension bridge/football badge was introduced the following season, the new Division 1 shirt with the Umbro diamonds down the sleeves. Nonsense, they were granted full planning permission to redevelop the stadium complete with a block of student flats, about 15 years ago. Didn't go ahead though, as no one would pay for it, as it turned out.

They haven't even submitted an admissible planning application, but are proceeding with the build regardless, in contravention of due process and fair practice. Yet should they be unfortunate enough not to win retrospective consent, they will no doubt be outraged (having already sold over 100 season tickets for a non-existent stand), the victims of NIMBYs and an anti-Rovers council.

Thanks so much for posting this. Despite loads more high-profile and iconic glory days, both before and since, that day at Chester remains the most emotional occasion of my City-supporting life. Literally the only time I have ever cried actual tears at a football match. That moment when we were all on the pitch and TC and the lads emerged up in Chester's directors box... cannot ever be equalled. Even if we somehow reach the Premier League one day, or win the FA Cup or the Champions League, I don't think it can surpass the emotion of Chester 84, though you would need to have been there to understand why.

Actually to be fair, I have spotted a Glos/Gas parallel. Personally, as a Bristol City supporter I attend most home games and a few away. Meanwhile, as a Glos CCC fan I go to, now let's see, ooh, probably about one game every two years? Sounds about right ?
