  1. OMG, if you like rocknroll, and you like punk rock, and you like perfect pop melodies, then here's a record you're gonna frikin love. Demob - No Room For You From just up the road in Gloucester, one of my favourites from the John Peel show back in the day. Fab DIY video as well
  2. It will be roughly twice the height of the old one, with about 2,500 additional seats.
  3. Fair to say there's no chance of planning or building consents being granted in time, but on the contrary, they're pushing ahead with the build full speed, without so much as a nod to the necessary regulations. Implicit from the tone of Wael's big announcement a couple of months ago, they plan to blame others (NIMBYs, anti-Rovers councilors, etc) when the season starts and they don't have consent to use the stand, despite having sold season tickets for it. Contrary to their statement at the time, "Planning permissions and building regulations have all been submitted", that wasn't actually true, it was a big lie, but they went ahead and started work anyway. “Given the scale of the development, timelines are tight and we will be doing all we can to ensure that the new structure is in place as quickly as possible, with minimum disruption. That said, as with any development of this nature, there is always the chance of delays that are out of our control, but we have done all we can to look to mitigate this risk. "Planning permissions and building regulations have all been submitted, and the club is working with our Safety Advisory Group to make sure that all regulations are covered as part of the build process, so that the new development can be signed-off for use at the earliest possible opportunity. "We would like to ask supporters to remain patient whilst we work through these improvements, but the expectation is that they will be completed in time for the new season." Condensed version: we will bully our way through this, regardless of due process or the rights of our neighbours.
  4. Well Bristol Oil Services says you're wrong, and he knows better than the rest of us, apparently.
  5. As it should be. And massive credit to Elton for giving the lad that platform on his big night.
  6. I've never bought an Elton John record in my life, yet I know every one of these songs (apart from the 'special guest') and they are all superb. His vocal is holding up pretty well for a 76 year-old. What an incredible talent. And that fu king crowd! Wow.
  7. No the robin/suspension bridge/football badge was introduced the following season, the new Division 1 shirt with the Umbro diamonds down the sleeves. Toffs do a replica of that one as well, including the white away version. Really accurate replicas, great quality, all cotton with an embroidered crest.
  8. Toffs still selling them, I've had this one for over 10 years, stylish, brilliant quality and will never go out of date. https://www.toffs.com/bristol-city-1975-1976-home-retro-football-shirt
  9. Black and orange stray cat sittin' on a fence Ain't got enough dough to pay the rent I'm flat broke but I don't care I strut right by with my tail in the air.....
  10. Nonsense, they were granted full planning permission to redevelop the stadium complete with a block of student flats, about 15 years ago. Didn't go ahead though, as no one would pay for it, as it turned out.
  11. They haven't even submitted an admissible planning application, but are proceeding with the build regardless, in contravention of due process and fair practice. Yet should they be unfortunate enough not to win retrospective consent, they will no doubt be outraged (having already sold over 100 season tickets for a non-existent stand), the victims of NIMBYs and an anti-Rovers council.
  12. I actually exclaimed "oh for f cks sake!" when it was given.
  13. Thanks so much for posting this. Despite loads more high-profile and iconic glory days, both before and since, that day at Chester remains the most emotional occasion of my City-supporting life. Literally the only time I have ever cried actual tears at a football match. That moment when we were all on the pitch and TC and the lads emerged up in Chester's directors box... cannot ever be equalled. Even if we somehow reach the Premier League one day, or win the FA Cup or the Champions League, I don't think it can surpass the emotion of Chester 84, though you would need to have been there to understand why.
  14. I really enjoyed this appraisal of the Alex Situation. Haven't a clue whether you're right mind, but I've decided to believe that you are
  15. So anyway, apart from the venerable Bert (and Herbie), has anyone heard any more about their new stand fiasco? Have the city planners really told them "no, don't even think about it"? All seems to have gone rather quiet over at the Tinpottery.
  16. Actually to be fair, I have spotted a Glos/Gas parallel. Personally, as a Bristol City supporter I attend most home games and a few away. Meanwhile, as a Glos CCC fan I go to, now let's see, ooh, probably about one game every two years? Sounds about right ?
  17. Well strangely enough, the City contingent didn't join in with that one.
  18. Don't go there, loads of City fans at Glos.
  19. Only a very small proportion of the crowd, during one game, if I recall correctly. And they were shouted down, certainly in my area of the South Stand. Every club has a small proportion of clueless fucktards in its fanbase and we are no exception.
  20. Repeatedly calls us 'City' during his day 1 interview. Great start. Maybe on Scotty's advice?
  21. Great stuff. My young self in the 80s, obsessed with the Jam, Bunnymen and Smiths and all things cool, would have despised this 'w nkery'. Yet as you mature you realise there's way too much amazing music in the world to get hung up on genres and factions and what's cool. (Although fair to say I'm still obsessed with The Jam, The Bunnymen and The Smiths!)

    Top 3 up?

My old mate Martin, the Wolves fan, would agree with you. Well in 1987 he would have done, anyway. Martin was f king incandescent in 1987, the first year the playoffs were introduced. Absolutely spitting feathers, he was. Wolves finished fourth in Division 4 (I know!), but ended up losing the playoff final to Aldershot (ALDERSHOT FFS!!) who had finished way behind them in sixth place. How is that fair?! F'kin Aldershot mind!! Anyway, the rest of us saw it as a great innovation, an obvious improvement to the league format, that would lead to a huge uptake in fan engagement throughout the pyramid and help to restore the waining popularity of the game. I haven't seen Martin for years now, but I really hope he's in great health, loving his football team's (relative) success, and enjoying the brilliant spectacle of the playoffs.
