    Arena

The planned arena for Temple Meads was this size until scrapped by Marv. The YTL Arena at Filton is now planning for 19,000 seats - making it the the 3rd / 4th largest in the country. That's if it is ever built - this is constantly being delayed and rumours are that YTL will eventually claim it is unviable - anybody else heard this? Have read it on Skyscrapercity forum and someone I was chatting to recently.
  3. First thoughts are a totally underwhelming career for a player with much promise and potential. Second thoughts - was he really that good? What was his position? Not enough stature for a striker. Not enough work rate for a winger. His early call up to the senior England squad did him no favours with excess smoke blown up his arse. His character appears too nice and too content - not dynamic or hungry enough to be a top player. Fair play to him though - he has been paid well.
  4. This gas gone very quiet - anybody know the latest on this.. start dates... phasing etc.
  5. Not welcome here, definitely a dying breed - thankfully.
  6. Yep, used to live next door to them. Real sporting mad family. John was at Cardiff City (Goalkeeper) and used to room with Christian Roberts. Good luck John - certainly no easy job there.
  7. How do you know that? With interest rates rising like they are - I'm sure they'll be a lot put off moving next year. I know am!
  8. Good post and fair play - you obviousley enjoyed your experience. They were the Spanish club I always looked out for (when Ander Herrera played them for prior to joining Man Utd) although have now lost interest the Spanish league. Stadium looks awesome and I've heard the City is great.
  9. Good progress but what about North Somerset Council...
  10. Hate to temp fate ... but sounding positive so far...
  11. I was on at 9.00am and was behind 12000. Knew there was no chance then, as each person will buy at least 2 tickets. Daughters will give some grief over this.
  12. Yep looks like VIP tickets only. Shit.
  13. Benefit of hindsight. Lost far too much time with Ashton Vale and needed a new stadium. Probably was discussed, however don't think Lansdown owned all necassary land at this point (plus businesses still trading) Where would have played during construction? .... Memorial ? In an ideal world though - would have been good.
  14. Yep - probably ready to smash a tennis racket over somebody's head.
  15. Shoot , Match and Roy of of the Rovers were the highlight of the week for me - along with watching teletext for score updates (waiting for the pages to change). Roy of the Rovers was great - loved Billy's boots and Hotshot Hamish & Mighty Mouse. Jesus how the world has changed.
  16. Man Utd not comparable to Aston Villa in any way - a huge difference in history, size, fanbase and expectations. I'm not sure the Youth Team (class of 92) can be described as lucky as they were nurtured, coached and blended in to first team with experienced pros perfectly by AF. Certainly not a regular occurrence by any means but the vision by AF, and balls to move on big names like Hughes, Ince and Kanchelskis was massive. Alex Ferguson was ready to stand down anyway due to the years he had put in and his age (also wanted to spend more time with his wife). Not sure how old you are - but Man Utd have always attracted masses of new fans (all over the world) - even during the 80s when they only won the FA Cup - and Liverpool dominated our game. It is true that the Glazers have taken out huge amounts of money out of the club but have still spent massive in the transfer market and currently have the biggest wage bill in world football. Unfortunately they have squandered alot of this - if you consider circa £180 million on Maguire, Wan Bissaka and Fred and all three just look plain terrible. Best part of £90 million each on Pogba and Lukaku and couldn't get a tune out of either. Best part of £115 million on Van de Beek and Sancho (who both look quality) and Ole can't find a place in his team. The real issue for United is Woodward who has obviously done well on commercial deals for the club but his football decisions have been awful.
  17. Correct - and previousley Nige had endorsed Kieth and Paul but their departure had suggested some tension/fallout. Coupled with the lack of application from the players would suggest an unhappy camp. Agree with your earlier post that all very strange going-ons at the gate. I am not convinced that covid is the real issue here (not disputing that he has not had covid) but think there are other issues (all gut feeling). Something just does not feel right and I think he'll be gone this/next week. Worth noting that I have been on the Malbec so may come over as a drama queen!
  18. Nor me - that interview by Gould on RB was definetly priming the fan base for something. I just can' t see him coming back.
  19. It's fine with me , if anybody asks - I signed it off ?
  20. Yep - just needs to wear a head guard in future.
  21. But who would buy us with for what Steve would want + the complexities of Bristol Sport ownership and Bears?
