Need to work harder on your thread titles! ???

Thanks for advice but the January transfer window ends in around six weeks which therefore closes the opportunity to make squad changes does it hence six weeks being relevant?

But thanks for adding such value to the thread..

  2. Much improved today, big shout out to the team all of whom put in a good shift, but also to the fans, stayed with it and created a result positive atmosphere.

We have competed with the teams at the top well and there’s no reason to feel we won’t go on an have a decent season and mid table plus finish from here.

Well done all, deserved a result today...

It'd NOT "Just" Last nights performance though is it!

People are fighting horrible illnesses and many will have been diagnosed today. This is a game, yes passionate, but getting into a negative blame game will benefit nobody.

Hard but try and find some positives, it will always help. Personally, I am looking forward to Saturday and to when some of better players recover from injury, we have really missed them..

  4. We all know we are in deep shit financially and gradually working our way through a very difficult period before we can invest once again in the team.

We have a lot of freebies and more players heading out of contract too, transition absolutely applies to us.

Its an emotional game though, and after a great away win at West Brom, we return to ground today with a real bump.

My point though is that despite a real lack consistency, we are ahead of a lot of much bigger clubs, many with significant history including time in the Premiership? Contentious but Sunderland, Watford, Stoke, Middlesbrough, West Brom, Ipswich, Derby, Sheffield Wednesday etc., you can argue many should be well ahead of us.

After last season, a top half finish for me would be real progress, okay 12th at the moment but despite everything that has gone on, when we clear more who don’t want to be here, we can build again?

Hard after today but stay with it, we will get there...

  5. Okay, let’s be honest, OUR club has been ill for some time. It’s been pretty rotten to the core for a long time now and it will be some time before we start to surface again and rise once again.

My question to you fans is if you had the chance to write a prescription that helps us get out of the mess we are in, what would you prescribe?

I’ll start with a couple of signings in January, okay free, but we could do with a big, nasty centre forward and a midfield hard nut / leader in midfield - for me, we are too nice!! Every good team has a core of quality through the middle - keeper, centre half’s, midfield general and a decent centre forward...

    It isn't.

The standard of refs is of a higher standard due to the rigourous development process.

There might be more investment and ‘criteria’ to fulfil but the refereeing this season has been terrible, and sadly, it is clear very few have ever played the game..

  7. Can’t say I like the idea of it but is it time to introduce it?

Financially, there is so much at stake and I can’t help but feel the standard of officials in this league is worse than at any stage before?

We got what we deserved today, but that said with correct decisions it would have been a different game..

    These better coaches

Care to name a few (Ones we can afford+ ones who would come here)

You are right about who is affordable and who would come here, but who knows how attractive we are in reality?

I always fancied having Chris Wilder here myself, but others, Daniel Farke, Nuno Santo, would John Terry and his contacts be worth a punt with NP upstairs, dare I say Alex Neil (as his teams are always well organised and drilled), Bielsa, Solskjaer, and yes, some of these are and were available during NP’s time.

That said I was genuinely excited when NP was appointed and sincerely still want him to succeed.

  9. We all get excited about football returning but why is there so much expectancy that City should easily turn teams over all of a sudden?

We scraped through last season and played some pretty poor football being honest. We haven’t spent a single penny on transfers this summer. We have brought in a couple of lower league players with potential, one player with a decent pedigree at this level, but all on frees.

A football team doesn’t somehow become world beaters unexpectedly, it takes time to develop a side, and a lot of investment. With FFP, we are basically broke and working with handcuffs on or balls and chains in reality, aren’t we?
That said there were positives yesterday, spells in the first half where our movement and tempo were quite incredible, albeit we didn’t keep it up. It is undoubtedly going to be a long season and if we somewhere towards mid table come season end, we will have done well.

Is our Manager the right man? In my opinion, there are better coaches around who have us playing better by now, but of those available when Nigel was appointed, he would have got my vote. In six to eight games though, if results don’t improve, I expect he will leave, but let’s hope we are in a much better place by then and that we build further..

I am far from an England fan.........personally i prefer club football.   I have no idea why u r referencing Bristol City?  International football and club football are two completely different ball games.  You are going off on a very bizarre tangent, comparing the World and FA Cups?   You sound like yet another Welsh fan, bleating on about poor old Wales....and how nobody appreciates smaller teams?   Anyhow enjoy Wales appearance in the World Cup............because it is unlikely to happen again in our lifetimes.......especially once Bale retires?

What about the FA Cup comment then, not the same principle to you? Not bleating, too old for that my friend - I’ll drop to your level, off you go to do your homework ?

Why is it strange?   Do you really want to watch Estonia v Belarus, if you do?..... good luck.  The comparison with the Premier League is   specious IMHO.    The World Cup, is......or used to be, The Greatest Sporting Event on the Planet.  I want to watch Brazil v Italy or France v Germany.  Not "Also Rans" who are just making up the numbers.     Leicester, fantastically won the Premier League............can you see Wales winning the World Cup?  I would love to see an African team win the World Cup, but i do not want to watch matches which are just concessions by FIFA to keep minor nations happy.  The cream of World football should be at the World Cup.  FIFA are interested in just one thing, and one thing   only?...............The Almighty Dollar.       PS. By the way it's Vein......and Not Vain....Two different meanings ?

Do you think City offer entertaining football then? If it weren’t for the lesser nations or smaller football league teams, it wouldn’t be the beautiful game it is at the top hey?

If Man City or United fans suggested the likes of City shouldn’t appear in the FA Cup, would you feel the same?

I am Welsh by the way, I just don’t get why people continually knock smaller teams..and by the way, England have hardly hit the heights, have they?

  12. 1 hour ago, maxjak said:

Yep ............can see Wales lighting up the World Cup with their stylish possession  , and their intoxicating blend of flowing football.  Hopefully i will manage to stay awake during their clash with England..........Just, Can't wait.  And could Iran v Wales prove to be the game of the tournament?   And, God forbid, they are actually going to extend the number of teams who qualify in future World Cups.......so they're will be even more turgid battle's of the "also rans" on offer in the future.........yawn.  When will FIFA ever consider quality instead of stuffed brown envelopes?..............Probably never?.

So in the same vain, why not just have a Premier league with ten top teams in and bugger everybody else, City included? Strange comment..

  13. I’m Welsh and have been a City ST holder for 30 or so years, great result and possibly not deserved, but just wish it was against any other side than Ukraine..lovely nation of peaceful people, so sad what they are going through.
