Your son will never need a photo to remember that day. It will be imprinted in his memory box for ever.

100% and has been on cloud 9 ever since. We are having the shirt he got signed framed etc for him but he's trying to put together a photo book of the whole experience to share with friends and family (and maybe even his kids one day) and these 2 bits are the only undocumented bits of the experience.

  3. Hello all,

After a bit of help if anyone can offer it?

My son was a mascot against Man City, obviously had the time of his life and we've got a ton of good photos of him before the game with the players etc which is great. Having got the professional photos back yesterday there are 2 things we don't have any photos or video of and I wondered if anyone might have anything from the night from the Lansdown side of the ground?

    1. A picture of him (of probably all the players/mascots) lined up on the pitch when the players are all lined up.

    2. Any video etc of our players and mascots shaking hands with the Man City team as the 2 lines crossed.

As parents we had to wait right down in the corner so could barely see let alone get any good footage etc. If anyone has anything on their phone then please DM me. The official club footage doesn't show him in either of these scenarios. Thank you for your help in advance.

I know that there is a "life span" for a Desso pitch but not sure how many years it is.

I'm wondering if the problems recently are due to the very cold weather in the last four months. The lighting panels used in the darkest months of the year to assist grass growth may not be as successful when minus temperatures are weeks long.

I also understand that the undersoil heating is there to also help grass to continue growing by keeping ground temperatures above 5 degrees. Is it used to warm a frozen pitch or do they cover it with a "blanket".

If the pitch now needs to be "renewed" I guess that is because the polypropylene strands in the pitch have lived their life span. They are there for grass roots to grow into so that if the grass leaves get kicked off, the grass root will continue to grow and replace them even in winter. If the strands are damaged there is nothing for the grass roots to cling to. That I suspect is the problem.

My son was mascot against Man City and I was talking to some of the staff while he was doing various things. This summer is 5 years since the plastic was renewed as the basis for the pitch and that is the end of its life so this year is a total tear out of everything (not just the turf) and the whole plastic web under the pitch will be laid as new from the very bottom up. Should make a big difference next season I was told.

    Do you mean Joe?

there’s people near me who start on Zac as soon as he makes the slightest error.
I don’t know if they are regulars or not?

I did god knows which part of my distant memory I plucked Gavin Williams from. Edited. This guy is a regular and has been for a long time, its just a weird obsession at this point.

That's great, but what about Joe Williams?

    Indeed. Edited.

Amazing how people see games differently, I thought he got himself all over the pitch last night, harrying, sticking his foot in and breaking play up, I'll give you that he's not the best passer of the ball, but that's not really his job, that's more the James / Scott role. I think he's been very effective in the past few games that he's played alongside James, collectively they make a good partnership, allowing Scott to concentrate on his thing..

The bloke behind me in the Dolman absolutely detests Joe Williams with every ounce of his being. For 90 minutes every game, "Bloody hell!", "Joe Bloody Williams, again...", "He over hits everything...". On the regular occasion that Williams makes a great block, interception etc we have brief silence but soon back to ragging on him for next to nothing. It really is quite ridiculous from a pretty negative person anyway during games but Joe cops it ten fold.

I think fit Joe Williams is exactly what Matty James and Alex Scott need to allow them to thrive. He is everywhere, acts as an enforcer and the amount of balls he blocks or gets a foot on to stop a break etc is very high. His job is basically to win the ball back for the skill players to play. He's been excellent recently, as of course have Matty and Alex.

I have tried to ask the guy behind me why he hates him so much but lets just say he's not up for the conversation.
