  1. After scrolling through my vast memorized archive of appropriate band names, I came up with... Train.
  2. A really solid 90 minutes and looking the stronger of the two as the game unfolds. Looking forward to a bonus 30 minutes - even though the management aren't thrilled, I'd imagine. As mentioned before, the ref's having a really good game, too. I've probably jinxed it now...
  3. As a little kid I bought a bunch of Charlie Buchan Football Monthlies at the local church hall jumble sale. Proudly showed them to my Dad, who responded "Very nice. Now you can take them back... I donated them."
  4. Yep, agree with all of that. The ref's having a good game, too - allowing the play to flow.
  5. It's in the blood - my grandfather played a few games for City before deciding on a more stable career as a bookkeeper. My dad commentated for decades behind the Hospital Broadcast microphone. As a kid, following City was everything to me - I would even get upset if the reserves lost. I wouldn't trade those early memories for anything - from traveling across the country and the heady days of promotion to Div 1 to the emotional 0-0 draw against Fulham when a basement team of kids and veterans played their hearts out just days after the club almost became extinct. In my mid-20s I started playing in bands (still do to this day) and my priorities shifted. These days the disappointment of defeat fades much faster, but I still get that buzz of anticipation waking up on match day.
  6. Looked shaky at the back at times but can't fault the effort. Williams is a warrior and showed great persistence to set up the winner. He'll be some player once he's fully match fit.
  7. I had a seat for that game on the bench that used to run alongside the touchline in front of the enclosure. Sitting just a few feet from the pitch. Can't imagine that happening these days!
  8. Typical end of season goalmouth back then - dry and bare. Keepers must have felt like they were diving on concrete.
  9. I believe it was Sheff Utd away, with Trevor Jacobs getting the equalizer. I remember hanging around the players entrance after a reserve game that day - that's where people would gather to hear the 1st team's final score - and at that point we were told it was still something like 1-3. Got the good news when I arrived home.
  10. Maybe so. Headline in today's Bristol Live: "Demolition of infamous Bristol eyesore finally underway."
  11. Things must be really bad over there if they're paying people to watch.
