Absolute tosh. Atkinson hasn’t been that bad this season (we’ve actually seen some v good performances). Don’t care what’s happened in training but as my post above says, Pearson’s stubbornness is making us lose games. This trust chat is a load of nonsense. We’re not talking about who you trust to be a reliable person we’re talking about who you trust to defend effectively at centre half in the Championship. The fact that Pearson thinks King is a valid, sustained option there says it all. ”Look how bad my 2 centre half’s (that I signed) are - I’m going to have to play trustworthy Andy King there instead. That will work.”

Pearson loves talking about trust. He might be able to trust King as a person but he can’t trust him to defend a high ball, that much is evident. Don’t care what Atkinson/ Klose have done. Continually playing King at CB is suicide. Man has lost the plot. Pearson out.
  3. Don’t know specifics but think he was unhappy with the abuse Gosling was getting when clearly seriously injured. Think he’s ruptured his Achilles seriously by the sound of things.
  4. Tins won’t be the money guy in terms of negotiating fees and contracts during player recruitment. my interpretation is that as ‘technical director’ he will head up the recruitment team and academy in regards to developing players and identifying targets whether that is senior or youth players, or promoting age group players into the first team. We will still need to replace Richard Gould with another CEO/ money guy and I don’t think this effects Pearson in any way - it would be the same regardless of who the manager or head coach is.
  5. Exactly this. But… am absolutely buzzing to see him doing so well. Think he’s been unlucky not to score a few more so pleased to see they’re starting to go in for him. He’s been showing really quality on the ball along with passion and bags of effort and running. Can’t fault him. Well done, Nahki - long may it continue!
  6. Yeah, exactly this. He was right to be hacked off after busting a gut all game. not sure what was up with Kane Wilson when he came on but he seemed all over the place. Hopefully it was just rust/ nerves. Could do with a start in the cup to get some minutes in him.
  7. Outstanding today. Thought he deserved a goal and MOM. So refreshing not ‘having’ to play with a target man. Nahki and TC definitely putting themselves about. Well done, both.
  8. Soooo…. No one would take him permanently because of the massive wages (relatively speaking) he’s on compared to the level of club interested in him. As a result we’ve had to settle for a loan deal where Shrews will only pay a portion of his current wages (with us probably still picking up over 50%) until his contract runs out in a year. Sound about right or miles off it?
  9. To be fair, the ‘sick note’ reputation was reasonable based on his record but I think the rumours about Baker’s medical situation in recent months has added context to his many early withdrawals in matches which has enabled fans to understand this a bit more. Think it’s fair to say we’re all now united with respect and best wishes for NB and I echo the sentiments of previous posts.
  10. Find it mad how poorly paid not playing staff wages are in elite football/sport. Bristol Sport big offenders with that from my understanding. Sort of doesn’t add up with the ‘we want good people in our business’ jargon they keep spouting.
  11. Sack Pearson and appoint an up and coming coach to inject a bit of enthusiasm and belief into the club. If we have no money, get someone in who can work with no money.
  12. Go on then… Who’s worse? Clearly an opinion based topic but my reasons are: - signing came with terrible PR - Didn’t ever ‘look’ or ‘feel’ like a rationale signing. - not had one good game for us. - has taken up wages that would have been vital in having another player in what has been a problem position for us for years (and continues to be) - never really felt like a genuine first team option either last season or this. Other contenders: Nicky Hunt, didn’t work out at all well but on paper seemed like a sensible signing at the time. Marinovic: crap but was only here for a few months during our keeper crisis and wouldn’t have cost us much. Plenty of others but Simpson is the pick for me. Oh, and supported for 22 years+ - if that’s ok with you?
  13. What annoys me about this one is that signing him created a negative hoo haa PR wise. It was VERY clear to the average Joe that he wasn’t going to offer us anything much (especially after his couple of months at the end of last season). On what grounds did NP think resigning or even signing him in the first place was a good idea. Whole thing is an utter shambles and reflects terribly on the club. Because of that, I’d have this as our worst ever signing (from my memory).
  14. Yes - but he has a general inability to complete a 90min match consistently. Sort of a big deal if he wants to progress his career.
  15. Bollocks. I also recall him being a player we were linked with for a few years under LJ but we never went for him. Did we miss out on him or did we just not go for him at the time, I don’t know and nor do you - probably. I also recall a Holden interview where he stated that Williams was his number 1 transfer target that summer when he got the job. Holden definitely actively signed him, regardless of previous interest under LJ’s regime.
  16. I feel sorry for him. Don’t know the ins and outs of it all of course, and their loss yesterday was terrible but I thought he’d get them up this year - they were still in a really good position. This is the closest they’ve got to a return to the championship in years, not sure what else they expect. Hope they **** it right up now.
  17. Frustrates me when official people at the club like Tins tweet about him being ‘the future’. He’s only ‘the future’ if he signs a new contract though, isn’t he. Otherwise, we’ll HAVE to sell him in a few months and then he’s not the future, is he? The Massengo situation is completely up in the air.
  18. Loved Pack. Agree with others that he knows the score around pantomime booing. Hadnt realised he was OOC at Cardiff in the summer. I’d definitely take him back in the summer to be an experienced squad player in CM. He offers more than Andy King does in that role in the squad (imo). Also, he’s settled in the area with his family for the long term so might be interested.
  19. Is he retiring? Is that official? Where? Thought NP just said (so far) that he’s unlikely to play again this season. EDIT - just seen post above.
  20. Agreed but still don’t rate Pearson. If we’re a ‘poor club’ now, as our annual accounts would suggest, I’d much rather have a young, progressive, up and coming head coach who could at least fill me with a bit of excitement for the future.
  21. Actually a great signing imo. 1) Weakens Burnley 2) Strengthens Newcastle for relegation run-in with Wilson injured. 3) if Newcastle stay up its £20m well spent even though Wood would get replaced in the summer. 4) If they go down, they’ve got a great striker to help them get back up who won’t kick-off or down tools etc.
  22. Moving on from your overly emotive and exaggerate disagreement of my view, what do you think NP is actually developing? Ive already conceded that he HAS made us more robust than the back end of last season but only just. Don’t forget our limp ends to many games this season and our bad run of home form. I don’t see a particularly cohesive plan to move forward and don’t have huge confidence in his ability to develop players. I know he’s not inherited a great situation but neither has he seemed to stamp his mark particularly effectively. You obviously do have faith. Please convince me!
  23. Fair point about the improvement on a few months ago. I guess my point, more accurately, is that I’ve not see enough improvement to give me belief in him for the long run. Hope I’m wrong though and I acknowledge that he’s not had a lot of money to invest. I guess part of my frustration is at those above him and the direction they have taken us in over the last 18 months.
  24. Haven’t said I hate it. I’m just incredibly uninspired - probably more so than any other time in my 20+ years following City.
  25. Not really about money. He’s a football manager/coach who doesn't appear having much impact on coaching players or managing a football club in a cohesive direction.
