  1. Furthermore, what really pisses me off is the 'reason' for the change. If the clubs statement had referred to policing or other unavoidable reasons for the change then fair enough we've just got to suck it up and get on with it, as inconvenient as that might be. But the reason was to do with the players rest for Monday, something that fans have flagged up weeks and months ago. Such poor planning to only just 'realise' this now and do something about it. You would have thought they might notice that we were the only team in the league playing on the Saturday!

  2. I agree, I meant wrong decision to alter it now.

Naturally I want to win games and if one extra days rest will make the difference then ok I can see the reasoning. But I honestly think the club doesn't take into account the huge effort many fans have to make to actually attend games; work, child care, transport etc all have to be juggled. Add in the factor of a long weekend for some, but not all, and to move it now won't be easy for some.

What the club have done is screwed up in not making the change early. Now it's been left so late they've made a decision to put the team ahead of fans. Fair enough you might say. I VERY rarely criticise the club but this is so amateurish, the club need to explain what on earth is going on!

  3. Understandably our own fans are upset and Notts County fans too. Wrong decision.

I'd argue right decision, but wrong time.

Fans have been questioning for weeks why we were the only fixture playing on the Saturday! Only having one days rest instead of two would be a massive factor for both us and county's fixtures on Monday.

Why on earth has this not been changed weeks ago and why was the game originally scheduled for the Saturday in the first place?! Utter madness! Please tell me the club hadn't only just realised that playing Sat gave the players only one days rest! Most fans have been for ages!

Considering it's Easter weekend and people make plans at this time of year, I'd be surprised if there was a single fan that this didn't effect in some way (not just exiles or away fans that have booked train tickets).

  4. Anyone else feeling more nervous/anxious than usual today? Personally feel today is HUGE (as is every game). I feel like today's result will have a massive effect on the confidence and morale of both players and fans as well as how it will make the table look.

Win - and we're in with a shout.

Lose - and I seriously worry about us.

6 more wins we need - I reckon - let's start today! COYR!

  5. Again he has played holding midfield before at Brighton as SC said. As for Pack when he played further forwards for Cheltenham he was excellent.

I haven't seen anywhere that SC said he had played midfield. As far as I'm aware it was on Wikipedia and a number of Brighton fans have since confirmed he's really just a centre half.

I'm just surprised that was your first idea of how to use him. I also don't see Pack as an attacking midfielder, he hasn't got the pace or fitness. He's a good passer of the ball and he sits in front of the back four. That's his game.

  6. No I said, "I'd love to see him in a holding role with Pack and Reid given license to get alongside JET behind Barnett and Baldy." He holds and Pack and Reid get alongside JET.

I'm pleased you're not the manager!

You'd sign a centre half and then play him as a holding midfielder, then ask a 'sitting' midfielder (Pack) to push on as an attacking midfielder????

  7. Im not complaining about the under 24 policy at all, i couldn't give 2 hoots if the player is 73 as long as he improves the squad overall.

How many times?! It's a guideline, there will be exceptions!

The point - we'll no longer just sign over the hill players. There is a new focus on investing in younger players which we are doing bringing through Reid, Bryan and signing the likes of flint, JET and Osborne. Having said that, every team needs balance and on average we have a very yong squad. Centre back is also a position where you need experience and where generally players last longer.

AEA is a very good signing for his quality and experience. He'll be 33 when his contract expires, nothing wrong with that at all.

Look at our back line. Carey will be gone in the summer as will wilson and possibly Fonts. Williams, Osborne, Flint are all relatively young. Experienced head in there is vital. Fantastic signing.

Please will people show some common sense about the under-24 guideline!

  8. If true then I think that's the end of Fontaine. We already have 3 solid Centre Backs in Williams, Flint and Osbourne.

Don't know much about this bloke though.

Maybe the end of Fonts or could be the end of Flint? Makes sense to have 2 left and 2 right sided centre halfs in the squad.

Is SC convinced by Flint? I don't think I am...

  9. Why does everyone assume we're going to play a diamond every week?! It's infuriating to read. SC clearly stated that he chose the diamond against Tamworth as a tactical option because of their height and strength to try and protect the back four but also give JEt some space in the pocket. That doesn't mean it's his favoured formation or that we'll play it every week.

Gillett may well be in the JET role and JET in the Taylor role today, but it looks more like a straight 4-4-2 to me.

  10. Does anyone know if the design of the new Gate has the potential for an increase in a capacity from the 27,000 or is that the absolute max?

Currently that's the max. Otherwise I'm certain the club would have gone bigger.

However, the only time we would ever need to increase from 27,000 would be if we became an established premier league side, like Swansea have done. (Long way off anyway). If we found ourselves in that positionI reckon the council would be far more willing to back further expansion works then they currently are, and the increased financial power of the club may even allow it to buy up and demolish houses behind the EE or Atyeo to enable further expansion.

Who knows? It's just a theory. Either way, I like the plans for redeveloping AG and the new facility will suit us just fine most likely.

  11. erm...since then we've hardly been climbing the league!!

He was pretty spot on really!!!

He might have been spot on, but why should we take back a player who's said that about our club!!!

He wont be as good if he came back, i think that shows by the way he couldnt cut it at QPR or Torquay(was it?)! He can rot in non league football for all i care!!

  12. I'd love to see him back at City.

We could use a pacy left sided player to come on for Murray when he gets tired.

No thanks, he made it quite clear 'we were going downhill' look whos going downhill now you greedy git!!!
