  1. It's true, but the Bradford City council area takes in the whole city as well as outlying towns and villages such as Keighley and Shipley, whereas cities like Bristol and Hull effectively have continuous urban areas that extend into other council areas. Wakefield is another West Yorkshire anomaly. The district has a population of over 300k, but the actual city itself has around 76k. They don't even have a league football team - although rugby league is the main sport.
  2. I was at Aston too (same time as Rob Fernandes who many of you might know). I always recall many Villa fans shaking their heads sadly when telling them who I supported, as if we were somehow insignificant. So today is doubly delightful for me. C'MON YOU REDS!
  3. Unfortunately, I have other commitments today in Wakefield of all places. So I'll be agonisingly close to Elland Rd come 3pm. Really hope we can squeak it 1-0. COYR!
  4. I've a few QPR-supporting friends from my time in London (although, bizarrely one of them is from Bridgwater). The general consensus is always highly negative from their side - Green dropping clangers left, right & centre, Konchesky & Henry dodgy in defence. However, with Austin up front & Hasselbaink getting a bit more out of the players I'd go for a 2-2 draw.
  5. Showed this thread to some Hull City supporting mates today. "Desperate" was the word used.
  6. Great work @havanatopia! Just to add to the interesting facts, the river Hull, from where the city gets is name, splits the urban area in two, much like our fair Avon. Those in East Hull are generally looked down at as the poorer relations (and typically support Hull KR), whilst those in the West have a superiority complex and generally support Hull FC. Hull also opted to keep its own phone network back in the day, hence you will find white phone boxes not the usual red. I have actually driven back home from Hull this morning. There seems to be a quiet confidence in the air (or maybe that's just the gale force winds). Really hoping we get some sort of result today, or my Monday morning at work is gonna be hell (in hull).
  7. For my sake (given that the missus is a Leeds Utd fan) I need a win tonight! 2-1 would do for me.
  8. Just a quick weather update. I'm about. 50 miles from Scunny. We had a light smattering of snow about 6am but it didn't pitch. Temperature around 1 degree c. No frost. Looks like the game will be on.
