  1. I support both North Bristol clubs. Your new stadium is undeniably superb but I'd rather Bris were still playing at home. Jealous? Not really, most clubs in the top 2 divisions have a stadium on a par with, or better, than yours and I'm not envious of them either. Better facilities and a higher standard of football definitely gives you a massive advantage when attracting neutrals and new fans. But the "gap" will never be big enough for me to consider switching my allegiance. I'm sure those of you who stayed loyal during the early 80's will know exactly what I mean. up. The. Gas.
  2. In the interests of balance, can someone do an A4 laminate of this please? OMG the blue few / 15'ers are so deeeelooooded!! They really are the gift that keeps on giving! We don't even care about them anymore because we are an established championship club with loads more fans than they will ever have. Everyone likes us more than them and our manager is not only a tactical genius, he's much better at giving interviews. Our ground is going to hold 27,000 rugby fans next year and we didn't even have to steal it because our owner is bloody loaded. Why don't those sags follow his example and be turncoats, they know they want to because they're just bitter that their rivals are sooo much bigger and better. And the best bit is we don't even see THEM as our rivals!! Ha, the gift! I was bantering with a gas head at school the other day and guess what!! He said that we might be playing derbies again in 2 years and that they could have a big ground too!! Totally deeeeloooded, what a gift! This proves that their entire fan base (which isn't even as big as ours) is totally obsessed with us. I told him we don't care about you one tiny bit, we never sing about you at the Gate and nobody even speaks of Bristol Rovers anymore! Ha! Their shirt is shit and Irene is a slag. But I wouldn't even know what their shirt looks like of how Irene goes because they aren't even rivals! I was chatting to a Real Madrid fan the other day and he had heard of us but not them! When I told him they got relegated to the conference and that we never talk about them anymore he couldn't believe it. Have that you blue bastards! Our song is much better than theirs and when the whole ground sings it, they can hear us up at Bemmee Down library. Oh when the red red Robbin shoots his Bob, Bob Bobbin it's time to move along. Shhh. Tick, tock, tick, tock, mind the gap gassers! Not a direct quote admittedly but IMO a reasonable summary of the first 211 pages on this thread.
  3. TBF I don't think anyone's actually mentioned that we're doing OK at the moment and err, you're not. Somebody has mentioned that there could be a Bristol Derby next season but personally, I don't believe it will happen. FWIW I think there are at least 3 teams worse then city in the championship this season. As long as the crowd gets behind the players, you are more than capable of grinding out a couple of good results to lift you clear of trouble. I have been an avid follower of NLBR and Basement Rovers topics but haven't posted regularly on OTIB for years. Those threads epitomise the rivalry between our clubs. Some genuinely witty banter that I might be tempted to engage in, and a lot of OTT blind hatred. Happens on our forum too as well as pubs and workplaces throughout the region. I'm well past all that bullshit these days and I have more respect for a shed than a Bristolian who supports a prem side. Although I suspect most of you are glory hunters from Somerset who should be supporting Yeovil ...
  4. Believe it or not I was at that game and, yes, the atmosphere at the end was pretty awesome. Coming from behind to reach a play off final is as good as it gets. But to put Polls quote into perspective, the atmosphere at Barca can be a bit flat at times. And he's probably never reffed at the Mem
  5. Martin Allen: I've been lucky enough to visit a few Premier League games over the past six months, but very few can match the atmosphere and passion of Bristol Rovers supporters when we visited the Memorial Stadium on Tuesday last week.In what was biblical rain, seven-and-a-half thousand turned up and sung their hearts out saluting every tackle, challenge and refereeing decision like it was a Champions League final, FA Cup final and Premier League title decider rolled into one. After relegation out of the Football League on the final day of last season, they could've turned their backs, but it looks like it's made them even stronger.
  6. On the contrary this is most fortuitous. It means I can pop round and give him his pound back.
