  1. The thing that bugs me is this growing view that contact = foul. If you play the ball past someone and then run into them without them moving into your path or making a challenge they didn't impede you, it's not a foul. If a defender makes a challenge and misses but doesn't impede you that's not an excuse to trail a leg to fake contact and then go down like a $10 hooker. Thanks to shitty commentators many fans now seem to think now that it's OK to drop like you've been shot whenever you feel a touch. It's crap and it's ruining the game. Players should be playing on even if they've been tackled neck high and then the referees will be free to exercise some judgement.
  2. It was a dive. He played the ball too far and realised it and then ran into McAllister. Wasn't even a free kick as far as I'm concerned - since when has it been a defender's duty to get out of someone's way?
  3. Reality TV. All of it. There was a programme on one of the cable channels tonight called "Can fat teens hunt?", talk about scraping the barrel. I think anyone involved in reality TV at all should be beaten to death with their own spleen.
  4. Trundle seems to me to be suffering from not having a striker alongside him who can take equal responsibility for winning the first ball. He's at his best with the ball at his feet facing goal and he doesn't get much opportunity to play this way at the moment. That said I think he's still doing OK, I just think that when we play Byfield or Brooker alongside him we will see a whole lot more. Sproule looks to me like a winger playing up front, I've not seen any reason to think he's going to score loads so I hope we play him wide soon and give Byfield a go.
  5. We have less resources but also far less pressure. If Charlton don't look like getting promoted Pardew will be out by Xmas. We will have to be shrewd in the transfer market but no matter how much you spend on players, it's still 11 vs 11 on the pitch, and this is football. Underdogs can and do win. Teams like Watford, Barnsley, Wigan, Reading and Swindon have all made it into the Premiership without spending crazy money - it can be done.
  6. I must have missed the massive front page article from our unbiased, fair and accurate local newspaper. Nibor
  7. Kerrang confirms Deftones, Korn and Clutch added to Metallica, Prodigy, Trivium and BFMV. Nibor
  8. I don't know whether to be more concerned that we're failing to get players in or that we might pay over the odds for mediocre players as we run out of time. I think the current squad is good enough to avoid relegation if we play the right players and finish lower mid table, and therefore if it's a choice between Hayter at £200k which I reckon is well overpriced or noone I'd rather wait until the summer and try to spend the money better. We can always continue to abuse the loan system a bit if we get unlucky with injuries etc. Nibor
  9. The same way he did at all the other clubs he's managed? The guys managed over 1000 league games and got 3 or 4 promotions. Only time he's had money to spend was at Cardiff and I think a little at Middlesborough? I don't think he'd be a great choice but I think writing him off based on the time he had at Cardiff where he did actually get them promoted is a bit strange. Nibor
  10. He wouldn't be my first choice but he does have a good record at this level. I wouldn't be too concerned about his performance at Cardiff, managing a club when you have millions to spend is a different job and it's not necessarily easier. He's got Cardiff promoted out of this division, got Boro and Charlton into the Prem (or old first) and nearly got Luton promoted from this one too finishing third. Nibor
