I think Phil was referring to me….my temporary name and pic change from Davefevs to Spreadsheet Boy….not the other users.

Ill change my name back, although I like the avatar, thanks Silvio.

I know Dave, your posts (always good btw) are easy to recognise. I'm just s**t stirring.

I have just realised who you are.

I thought your style and content reminded me of somebody else, thought how strange it was that I hadn’t seen him post for a while as he is usually quite prolific, and then Bingo!

My Eurêka moment, if you like.

Funny how his appearance coincided with the influx of other new members over the last few weeks though!! 🤔😂

Such is our collective fondness for Pearson, we’re in danger of rewriting history here.

In reality, Pearson didn’t win every game you might have expected him to, and not every performance met expectation. Sometimes we were actually pretty crap.

That’s not to say Pearson didn’t do well here. Overall his record holds up and he was getting about par from a limited squad. But let’s not start pretending we we were guaranteed to beat anyone under him. We weren’t.

You’re also not allowing for a transition period while the players adapt to a new manager with new ideas. That alone is likely to have contributed to today’s performance.

Please keep on posting sense like this. It's punctuating the nonsense nicely. I was gutted to see Pearson sacked and treated the way he was, but people are so determined to push the anti BS / landsdown agenda that they're posting the most ridiculous **** and if it doesn't comform to their opinion than it must be coming from someone on the BS payroll.

I was about to say something very similar, good summary.

I find 3 Peaps a difficult listen, they are too close to the club and it shows with virtually no criticism and as such has no balance. Their Robins Reunited interviews are excellent though.

Spot on with OSIB although I’d add it’s also very funny, @petehinton and @Olé are brilliant on it.

I used to hate FBC, mainly due to the audio issues and Ian Gay. But now they’ve sorted the audio and matured into it it’s now probably my favourite one (mainly due to OSIBs lack of content). It has good balance on every episode and doesn’t shy away from tough questions and analysis. I don’t agree with anything Ian Gay says, but he’s important to have on there for the different views he brings. It also makes for an entertaining show.

Agree with most if this, due to less osib content, FBC had become the default post match listen. But I disagree about Ian Gay having different views. He just shouts louder than the others, and either no one is willing to offer alternative viewpoints or the host moves the conversation on before a counter point can be put forward.

The majority of football players don't like team meetings and standing around listening to information. There are countless examples out there of players falling asleep during these meetings.

They are football players who want to play football.

At a lower level you may get more of a buy in but at this level you're dealing with millionaires in some cases.

Manning has coached at West ham and Newcastle. I don't think he's going to have any issue with our 'millionaires'.

I'm the of the same feeling as you I'm done with the Lansdowns because there certain people in the club that should be long gone. I will support the players sat to Tues but the owners they need to pack there bags!!

Just curious, but how do you know who at the club who should be long gone? Have you got access to the HPC and ground where you can see these people in their roles and the skillset to determine who deserves to keep there job? Or are you just making assumptions based on the team's performances?

Well, the "process" of recruiting the replacement for LJ was a basket case. Lets hope they have learned. As for finally adopting a philosophy - its only taken 20 years. Lets see if they stick to it - i have my doubts. Lansdown has more flop flops on his CV than the CEO of Havaianas

True, and perhaps I'm expecting too much of Steve. Either way, I hope BT has got some balls, because no-one else has been able to stop Steve from flip flopping.

Agreed, and if he has done a good job at the academy he deserves credit. However, the day after Pearson is sacked he pops up in a much bigger role than the one announced in November. The TD role put him in charge of recruitment and the academy. 24 hours after NP is sacked he the new head coach reports to him and he sets the footballing philosophy for the entire club. Does that not smell a bit?

Perhaps it's a case of the Landsdown's finally realising its about the process. Steve's favourite clubs got to where they are with philosophies that span many years and in some cases multiple managers. With a figure like BT in his new role (which supposedly comes with less pressure and demands to succeed in the short term) such a philosophy could be established and bear fruit?
(I still think Nige was the best man to get us there mind).

  9. What must the players feel about this whole saga? They clearly play for Nige. They must be nearly as speculative with the situation, lack of clarity and comms as the fans are. Whose to say how they'll play for Nige's replacement if and when that happens.

Good take from the Coventry forum, before our change of formation -

    Talking about us:

"They are going to have find an extra man deeper in midfield from somewhere so that their wingbacks can get higher. Their 3 in midfield is Matty James sitting a bit deeper than the other 2 and we've got their wingbacks penned back because he can't manage the horizantal line through defensive midfield on his own. If he can't restructure those 3 in the middle he's going to have to sacrifice a striker or a centre back. Would be nice to get a goal before he does"

Sounds like the Coventry version of Fevs.

  11. I think it's the perfect time to play them. We're still unbeaten away from home, off the back of a solid performance against Plymouth, no expectations of much other than a loss and no real fear of ending a mazey unbeaten run like what happened against Man city last year (which then resulted in a drop in performances). Even one of the Second Tier tools has us down for an upset. ?‍♂️

This is the point though.  Of course we can look at the squad and realise we’re short.  That’s why I think there’s a serious lack of belief or real optimism within the fanbase, especially ones of a mature age.

I haven’t especially enjoyed going to the Gate for some time, but keep renewing each year anyway, out of loyalty to the club.  I’m certainly not doing that in the expectation we’ll be going up, and would actually be totally shocked if we did.

There are plenty on here who go on about Steve saying this and Steve saying that though, so they are obviously believing that whatever he says, he must mean it and be ‘telling it as it is’.  He just needs to say he ultimately wants promotion and there will be plenty who will take him as his word.  I’m personally well past taking any notice of that sort of guff now.

It just feels a bit sad and slightly depressing when your lifelong club appear to have zero ambition to progress.  I suspect that lack of  aspiration and drive also contributes to the flat matchday atmosphere people constantly bang on about on here!

I agree with you, in that I look forward to outside investment or the day when Steve sells to someone a little more football savvy, but I think its unfair to suggest he doesn't want city in the prem or has zero ambition. We all know he threw money at the club previously and I feel its a case of sticking to FFP and a lot of that 'once bitten...' mindset.

Sadly we are in a better position now, yet he is showing little willingness to flex (hence his comittment to stick to a transfer budget mapped out in march, which was based on us keeping Alex).

To say he has no ambition is to over simplify things, but his stubborness and complete lack of desire to engage with the fanbase (through Jon, the CEO or himself) will lead fans to assume he has none.

I am saying that yes they are payed employees they aren’t in control we are they play for us and are in breach of contract if they display any disobedience! They after all signed the contract and weren’t forced! You can’t just choose to go as now you are good !

But good job defending the players

This viewpoint is f*****g naive it's unreal. And it gets spouted all the time as a stick to beat city with. It would be lovely if players lived and died by their contracts, it'd also be great if they weren't on sickengly high wages, and my wife looked like Margot Robbie but this is the real world.

It is hard to think of a club that would lose it's star player for £25 million and not use some of the funds to strengthen the squad. Only at Bristol City under SL.

Bit early to assume this with 3 weeks to go.

I’d say look at what he does, not what he says. We’ve spent a fair bit of the Semenyo money already (Mehmeti, McCrorie etc), and history says that we’ll often reinvest what we recoup. It also says we don’t do that very wisely, but the intent has been there.

Clubs know we have a big chunk of money coming in, any bravado statements in the media about how we’ll spend it won’t help any negotiating positions.

FWIW, I think we’re closer now than we’ve been since the LJ cup run era, and I’d be surprised (and disappointed) if we didn’t use a decent chunk of the Scott money to give it a go again. A couple of quality signings might be all the difference between 12th and play offs.

Well put, people find it easy to assume Nige may be bluffing about the wages, but dont expect SL to do the same. They may be singing from the same hymn sheet. ?

quote from NP "better chance of success if we keep our best players" dont think he said better chance of success if we sell AS then try and get someone better for less money, yet again a king pin at this club has been sold off.

Note; All players contracts are running down from the moment they are signed, we 100% would have been better off with AS this season than without him, and to suggest his head aint here insults his pro status. We cash in under the cover of building better...AGAIN.

Yawn, if you cant see the potential behind  spreading Alex's value across 2-3 signings that bring the quality of the 1st 11 up, then i give up.
