I suppose my fear is two fold. I think Lampard has underachieved everywhere he’s been. Especially recently. If we’re going to be successful we need to overachieve. I’m pretty certain that under the same constraints, NP is twice the manager FL will ever be… which brings me onto my second point. I think my biggest fear is that the cheque book will open again. Nothing for Nige (see Cotts), and the world for Lampard (see LJ). Let’s be honest, if (god forbid) FL is appointed, he definitely won’t have agreed to the same budget constraints that NP has had to work to. And that’s what makes me most angry, out most deserving manager and our best manager of the last 10 years will have both been pied off in favour of pet/vanity projects. And it’s not fair. Appointing Lampard petrifies me.
