  1. I trust Rennie and Nige to have been considerate and thorough with their review of Bakes situation to make sure this is resolved or in continuous review pending announcement by both club and player. We may find out, we may not. It's Bakes wellbeing and may he deal with it how he sees fit. It's none of our business. It's between him and the club. I just hope he does right by himself most of all, and thank him for his service to the club. If more players were as brave and committed in the challenge as he is, and put themselves on the line, we may have had some better seasons the past couple of years which is all you can ask for. It may be he joins the coaching staff in the academy or/is doing his badges etc while the insurance aspect is settled. We can only wait.
  2. Ignorance was blissful while it lasted...
  3. I was trying trying to avoid bringing up him nor Moore as both give me shivers imagining either of them playing for us again. Thanks for that Ska.
  4. It's an odd one - as Cundy leaving strikes me as the RCB being void aside of Kalas, unless we feel comfortable with Klose, our most experienced defender, moving across to cover, or Atkinson? Idehen & Towler, as well as Atkinson & Naismith, all strike me as centre/left side of a three or biased to that side, along with Pring able to cover in an emergency. From that view, I would loan Towler out until Jan, rotate Idehen to go out from Jan onwards. The sticking point is do we try and ship Kalas out provided there are any takers, or sign competition for him if there is not?
  5. Demographic is what is more likely to change. Lower season ticket sales at greater per seta overhead, more membership/tourists, more profit. I can't help applaud Man City's pricing. Them and West Ham leading the way while the likes of Wolves, Villa, Bounremouth among others take the proverbial biscuit - especially with the cost of living scenario being what it is. Granted, this is price of cheapest seats so ultimately means nothing if not set in context of average pricing.
  6. Pretty sure Leeds fans would have thought when they signed Meslier from (then) Ligue 2 Lorient. Can we stop judging players on what they've already achieved? It simply isn't applicable. Let's judge them in a City shirt and support them, if it happens. Webster, Brownhill, etc etc.
  7. Dyche for England.
  8. How are some of their fans stupid enough to not realise that its the player (namely their agent) who should inform them of the rejection of their offer one acceptance of another? Not just him as an individual - there are some of their fans who don't seem to realise that there is major pulling power in this division. Others can't seem to compute that simply being 'well-run' means politely **** all at this level.
  9. More importantly, he's free. We lose nothing, there's no real risk. Not exactly Nakhi mkII is it.
  10. Apologies. Think it may have bugged it seems. Defo only sent that once. ?
  11. His achievements here ultimately mean nothing if we we're in a better position overall (including financials) before he arrived. Ultimately the spending completely outstripped overall progress and was costly. The entire up-trading strategy was a huge risk that simply was not necessary, and the more of SC's squad that was replaced, the less of a 'team' it became. LJs man-management on the whole was and is woeful. He may be a good coach. But he simply is not a good manager. At best he was mediocre.

  14. Good old Rolls-y! Guess which club had an injury hit March? The prize is an empty pack of chewing gum and an odd sock that my dog chewed.
  15. Out of interest, with a few people (on the likes of Twitter, etc,) highlighted an interest as to whether city should sign the likes of Hector (who was on circa £20kpw at Fulham) - what's a wage bill that people consider 'sustainable' in lieu of the last few seasons and the general overspending that's occurred? For example in 18/19, 19/20, and 20/21 wage spending was circa £30m, £33m, and £36m respectively. For context, average Revenue between 2017-2020 was circa £26m, peaking at around £31m in 18/19. Discounting the 20/21 results on revenue in leiu of the impact of COViD. What should we overall perhaps be aiming for as wages% as a proportion of turnover? For example, my logic would be circa 90-95% wages as proportion of turnover, overheads to be offset by odd bits of player trading. Which would thereby mean wage bill of around £22m/per annum. My educated guess is that we're currently in or around that figure currently around £23-24m if NP and RG have reduced the overall bill by a third. So what are people general views on how Sustainability should look for us?

    New kits

Worth pointing out that while it's a blatant Saudi connection, Newcastle have had both green and white change kits before. I dont consider it anywhere near the same bracket as Tan/Cardiff etc.
  17. That's because there's no losses in the off season for the cretins to dogpile on.
  18. They are a danger - until lowered by stewards in case of an emergency. Some are also powered by gas struts in some stadia such as in the Bundesliga that open in case of emergencies that are tested regularly, vertical as opposed to Wembley's horizontal as pictured. If people hurt themselves hurtling over them in a non emergency situation, then they 100% deserve it imo.
  19. Out of interest do we have any ideas as to when CFs contract ran to? I'm aware it was an initial 3 month to cover Simpsons absence, but when and for how long was it extended?
  20. The issue is if you look at the more of our finances have been in due to the onset of his reign, it's doesn't read well. Granted, year on year improvement. However over the same period as noted elsewhere on this forum, wages to turnover rose 50%, irrespective of having Ashton above him, he himself stated he had final sign off on signings. Hence nobody else in the championship coming in for him. His man management is simply not good enough. See Fielding/Wilbs comments, etc. Similar at Sunderland it seems.
  21. Agreed. But I wouldn't consider it as urgent as a full back or midfield. Added to which, there are a fair number of centre backs available on a free or for low transfer fees this window. We're not short of options.
  22. My view is better squad player than Vyner, ergo keep. I'm assuming four at the back next season. Extend Klose, get rid of Kalas where possible as well as Baker, Taylor Moore, and Vyner if any takers, then have Cundy as a squad option along with Towler and Idehen who for me have greater potential. Would also help cutting wage costs further. Would give options at CB of; Klose, Atkinson, Cundy, Idehen, Towler, with a further option to be signed where we wish to loan out on of Idehen/Towler. Would free up wages to sign a right-back, centre-mid, and winger.
  23. I'd actually be a fan of the circa 1990-92 yellow/green away shirt to be redone in Hummels style. Lumsden era I think? Granted we'd probably get mistaken for the Canaries on occasion but heyho.
