Very significant win and a superb performance. Somewhat bizarre City can be that good and the complete opposite v Preston. No complaints though!

We set up too attacking v preston. Massive gap between our midfield and defence. Brownhill and smith were pushed ever  deeper and then there was a massive gap between midfield and attack. josh is no defensive mid. Bringing pack in takes the shackles off them both.

Be in no doubt we are a very good side and well deserving of our hard earned point, I love the fact that unlike the last 2 seasons we are not a team that will be bullied, in fact I thought our midfield was terrific today.

    This was another strong performance.

Fielding 6 usual poor kicking and 1 mix up with Magnússon, but did little else  wrong.

Smith 8 terrific, strong always available and a great leader.

    Flint 8 usual commanding performance.

    Baker 8 he is quality.

Magnússon 5 so frustrating far too casual for me.

ODowda 7 all round game is improving by the game, especially his heading.

Brownhill 9 probably his best game for BCFC, MOM.

Pack 8 had one of his better games.

Bryan 7 so mature these days, even had time to rip Magnússon a new one after a casual mistake. I hope his injury is not a bad one.

Reid 7 his workmate is incredible, never gives up.

Taylor 6 to be fair he worked really hard rightly subbed he was tiring.

LJ 8 pretty much spot on all round, I might have brought Leko on, I think there was more space for him in this game than recent games.

Djuric 6 gave them something different to think about, should have done better when put clear.

Patterson 5 had a reasonable chance but took the wrong option.

Not convinced by Magnússon. Too slow off the ball and weak in the tackle. Poor decision making too. Can't understand why so many on here seem to love him. He is eminently droppable. I really really hope he improves, I don't like slagging any player.  but there's no evidence of any coolness in or out of possession in his last few starts. He needs to sort his confidence out.

I think some people on here being unfair to Magners:

    a) He wasn't being played in his best position (CB)

    b) He's hardly had any game time recently

    c) His long throws gave them problems all afternoon and created the winning goal for Flinty

    For me he did OK

Ok he is not a left back but he is too weak at cb as well. I remember Preston at home last season. He was absolutely overrun by their striker who scored 1 and laid one on. Away at Preston he came on at left back and had a complete mare, He got bullied like no other player did today. baker didn't have his best game either, but still looked far more solid than Magnússon. Having a long throw was his best asset today. Otherwise he was poor.

Thought Johnson got it spot on with team and tactics. We were playing direct and hitting Cardiff on the break. We basically beat Cardiff at their own game. If we had passed it around like we usually do at home, then they would have hit us with pace on the break. But it was us breaking on them. O'Dowda getting their full back booked after a couple of minutes meant he had to be careful for the next 90 minutes. The Cardiff number 2 had a torrid time trying to cope with Calllum. I wasn't so keen on the system change. I thought we looked a bit all over the place. You want Flint in the middle, not on the right of a 3 man defence. But I do understand the change, having an extra body in midield and still having 2 up top. But just not keen on Flint as the right centre back, and O'Dowda wing back when Korey had been a rock on the right side of defence. But I guess they didn't really have any good chances from what I can remember late in the game. Only real negative is Magnússon. Really poor. I wonder how far away Lloyd Kelly is from becoming our new second choice left back.

Agree re Magnússon. Looked like a boy in a mans match. He made a decent tackle on their winger before their goal, but then didn't finish the job off by putting it out of play. Made the wrong decision more often than not

Nothing to do with cleaverness. Subs in general have an impact. More to do with guts to make them. And why did they not start?

He flooded the team with pace and one touch players who have skill but can get knocked off the ball. It could have worked, but Reid does not create as much space for Abraham as Tomlin, or hold the ball as well.  Pack seemed less positive in his passing than against Fulham or Leeds and had his poorest game for some time and goldbourne had a poor half re getting decent crosses in.

He was the difference tonight in my opinion and short of his replacement scoring a hattrick, curing all diseases and ending all wars, he will return to the team immediately.

Has come into form now and it's unfortunate he misses Saturday. Should have got himself booked against Derby so he only missed the cup match. But I think we have enough without him. Paterson is also form and Reid.

  7. Given our dreadful record of not showing up at New York, this is a decent result. Rotherham have a good home record. Their away form is terrible.

At 2-0 I thought it was 0 points, so we'll done to the team for salvaging a point. O'donnell and flint need to work on their communication. I'm sure they will learn from this

thete will be times this season I'm sure when city will get a lucky point against a team that outplayed us. Just as Rotherham did yesterday
