  1. Sorry I meant "never had" rather than currently. (Prem rather than 1st division)
  2. Well it is the biggest without a Premiership team and far larger than some of those that do. Also if you look at the catchment area, when we were in the old first division, we would get good numbers attending from all across Somerset alone.
  3. Apparently depends which measurements you use. I have always understood we were the 6th largest in England (not UK) but looking at this site, it appears we could be anywhere from 7th to 10th and in one of the measurements used we don't even get in the top 10 (but that one is for the UK). http://www.citymetric.com/skylines/where-are-largest-cities-britain-1404
  4. Sorry, Jason mentioned proximity which I assumed was one of the measurements, I don't know whether it's that. population or a combination of both. I assumed that it was overlooked in the areas i mentioned because it would be almost impossible to enforce fairly. Imagine only one of the Manchester clubs being allowed Cat 1 status or it being applied to Arsenal but not Tottenham!
  5. although it is overlooked at Cat 1 level in London, Liverpool, Manchester and the black country
  6. Really? This is what will be required and they think they will be able to fulfil this from scatch? “Category 2” means that the football club passed an audit showing that the club is able to fulfill a set of very specific criteria. The audit process works on a three-year cycle, with the current cycle beginning in the upcoming season 2016/2017. The process involves a rigorous look at the function of the Academy across a set of pre-determined criteria: • Club Vision and Values • Coaching Programme • Sports Science and Medicine • Recruitment • Education and Welfare • Facilities • Finance • Productivity The football club’s own investment in achieving these criteria – currently about £600,000 per year – is then supplemented by a Grant from the Premier League in the region of £500,000. This joint figure of roughly £1.1 million is then dedicated to the Academy and allows it to fulfill the required criteria. This money is paid once an Academy Performance plan has been produced, followed by an online submission against over 300 specific requirements and then confirmed by a five-day audit inspection from an independent company." Ambition or more pie in the sky?
  7. You sound so negative! Are you sure you are a genuine Gashead?
  8. I did something I have never done before and went and looked at your posting history and I have to say I can't see any evidence of this in your defence. I did however see some of your posts around the JR period and wondered if this is an example of the kind of positivity you would like to see from Bert? To me this seems to be just another post by a deluded gashead, remember those days when you thought that the new stadium was but months away? No wonder Bert has not taken up the offer of a drink, you would probably offer him a cider and buy him an apple juice.
  9. Bert has been posting here for nearly 10 years, that's a pretty long time to maintain an alter ego that supports another club. As I remember his posts throughout the years they always seem pretty informed on the club both current and historically. Dancing D's only "evidence" that he is a City supporter is that he is often negative about the blue few. Going by that criterion, there may be more Rovers fans than I ever imagined as there are apparently a load of them posing as City fans on here!
  10. Have they given up suing Wycombe Wanderers yet?
  11. I really liked Heff, I wish we could have held on to him and given him more game time after we sold Lita. He was just unfortunate that LL had a great season and stayed fit pretty much all of it.
  12. From what I have heard it depends whether the post is on a weekend..
  13. Even making a sigining they make themselves look tinpot This is off the BBC transfer thred "DONE DEAL Bristol Rovers sign Chelsea duo Posted at19:10 League One side Bristol Rovers have signed Chelsea duo Jake Clarke-Salter and Charlie Colkett on loan - although this is the second time the Pirates have tweeted the news, having originally used a picture of Ruben Loftus-Cheek."
  14. Surprised they don't have a minute silence on the anniversary every year (Copyright Boris Johnson)
  15. Seems the BBC website don't realise this rule is in place as they have made no mention of it on their results page. Does look like an American invention.....
  16. Whatever the competition Oldham and Carlisle put on a show tonight. Carlisle were 1-0 down, 3-1 up, 4-3 down and finally won it 4-5 with 10 men!
  17. Do the Gas have any presence at UWE at the moment? The reason I ask is that I had to drive along the A4174 there one day last week and saw a Rovers car (number plate ended in GAS and the strage little pirate thing on it), as I passed there was a chap in a suit on a handsfree phone. I was wondering if he was off to a meeting with the bigwigs there or if they have a training presence there?
  18. Really? The way they talk they sell out every away game no matter their league position.
  19. Yes that would be a good one, wasn't it only Wolves who exceeded our figure at MK though?
  20. It's a shame they are playing MK away on a Tuesday night, otherwise we could put an end to this nonsense about away support once and for all.
  21. I think you missing the point Danny. A few of us and maybe even Bert have said several times during this thread, that you have done well to rescue yourselves from a dire position. The pisstaking is aimed at the delusion that so many of your fellow fans, have about the status you have and the continued assertion of what your current finances will mean for your future. The facts fall so far short of the reality it is almost like a form of mass hypnosis, and we and fans like Bert are bemused and amused by it in equal measure.
  22. You're right close the forum, there are people on here who wish to debate things you are not interested in. That's not the point of a forum is it? Alternatively, perhaps we could name this thread something else, something that would give you a clue to as to the content of the thread so you could ignore it in future?
  23. Well my mistake was definitely down to a bleary eyed start to the day
