So yes, that was just about the last time they had a 5 figure average home gate (may have had one a season or two later as well - used to know a website where you could look up this sort of junk but I'm beggared if I can think of it now).

Not sure that's correct.

They may have got more than 10K for that one derby game you refer to but they haven't had an average home gate over a whole season of £10K or more since the 1970s.

That's a whole FORTY YEARS of piss poor attendances - 7, 8 or 9K averages and in the year they left Eastvile it was 6-something.

We didn't coin the phrase The Blue Few for nothing.

All he's doing is looking for excuses now their progress has stalled rather than admit he's run out of ideas. I popped out to watch 2nd half of Spurs - Arsenal in the pub which had rather too many gAssholes in it for my liking (long story). There was a bit when, with Spurs 2-0 up, the coverage cut to Spurs supporters holding up a "Mind the Gap" banner - cue an embarrassed silence in the pub whilst silently, inside, I laughed my ass off
