  1. People say he needs to add goals to his game....if he does that's a bonus. He doesn't need to. He's going to the top regardless.

He's Modric. He's David Silva. He's the kind of player we've always lacked in this country. Keeps things ticking over. Does the simple stuff so well. So good technically, recieves the ball in tight spaces with ease. Picks the right pass at the right time with the right weight, always in front of his man. Not making a player check back or take a touch to get it under control, hitting them right in stride.

Give it a few years he's going to compliment Bellingham so well in the England side

I really do not miss the Johnson days. Most of the time we were scraping wins and playing on counter attack. We have a side who actually look to effect games now and are worth getting behind. I'd take how we are playing right now above 80% of his reign

We're playing good football at the minute and I'm optimistic about where we're headed but some of the revisionist history over LJ annoys me

Sure it went stale towards the end and it was the right time to move on when we did but we played some great stuff for the first 2/3 years of his reign.

3-1 vs Villa, 4-1 vs Derby, 4-0 vs Sheff Wed, 4-0 vs Huddersfield (twice!), 6-0 vs Bolton, 4-0 away at Fulham...

And that's not getting into the league cup run and the league run surrounding it

3 straight top half finishes, it wasn't all doom and gloom

We very rapidly went from "a proper manager would get us promoted" to "without a proper manager we'd be relegated" once he'd gone. Says he did a better job than he was given credit for imo

Are they the only team that have won the playoffs in all three divisions?

Answer my own question, Huddersfield have as well

    League 2: 2004 against Mansfield

League 1: 2012 against Sheff Utd

    Championship: 2017 against Reading

All on penalties after 0-0 draws.

There's your (not so) interesting fact for the day

All EFL and Prem clubs have to have an accounting year of End of May, June or July.

But why leave it at that, is what I don't understand? What not set it as a basic requirement of registration to the league that you must file your accounts for each year prior to the end of the season - 31st April say.

It's such an obvious, blatant loophole and it appears so easy to close

Thing is, it shouldn't be left to us and Middlesbrough to make a stand about this, because then it will just look like sour grapes. Really, all 21 other clubs ought to be hammering on the EFL's door - even those who aren't competing for playoff places are still getting screwed over.

  6. Is it the case then that different clubs have different financial years on which they base their accounts? Given we're all operating in the same system and under the same restrictions, transfer windows, regulations etc, I struggle to see why that should be the case?

Wouldn't it make more sense to have the date of the opening of the summer transfer window as the transition point to the next season, and have all clubs within our league system be required to file their accounts for each year up to that point?

That way you wouldn't have the potential issue with backdated transfers as registrations wouldn't come into place and contracts wouldn't be made official until after then.

And I'm no financial expert by any means but I don't see why that would be a difficult thing to enforce. Just have it as a basic requirement for a 'company' to be registered with the league they must file their accounts by a certain point, up to a certain point.
