  1. i agree with you that he has gone missing since stepping down, but i also think that the manager is there to pick a team that will compete, SOD never gave any impression of this, so he had to go. Results count, so i will see how wrong or right the board were in a few weeks time! I believe that a few of the players starting today will slowly disappear. Well at the mo we can only hope things improve.

As said, I think we have made a fatal mistake. Sod would I believe would have kept us up.

Judging by our disjointed performance today, and I know we have to give him time. But at this moment in time Cottrell has not impressed!

  2. Phone up and ask, give you the number if you want, as he said been to enough question and answer nights.

Yes red I do appreciate what Steve has done for us. And no doubt will continue to do. But I do feel he has gone missing since he stepped down as chairman. And when he did so he did say he wanted to take a "back seat". But his son is not comfortable in front of the media and the "Chairman" is a ghost who no one sees or hears.

And they have made a fatal mistake, IMO sacking SOD. Just look at the performance today they were flying around like headless chickens again. Back to square one I say!

  3. they lied sorry, as did shanks with the "some people think football is a matter of life and death... its more important than that" or something like that comment; absolute no where nearly or remotely right, just words.

Yeah of course just great inspirational ( to some) sound bites.

If only you could patent/copyright such quotes.

  4. 3 million? What did we get for Maynard and Albert?

Not sure what we got for Albert nor Maynard for that matter. All undisclosed fees, which always leans towards sold at a loss. Or bought for more than we publicly wanted to pay for him. But we did officially buy Maynard for 2.2 million (club record). We certainly did not get that for him when we sold him on.

  5. With players earning "just" a few thousand a week or less in this league.. 2 million is a huge amount, would certainly enable us to upgrade positions that are seemed weak..

We have been deemed weak all over the pitch for season after season now, with midfield and defence the main concern. Even with landsdown being more than generous with investment. Is 2 million really going to solve all our defensive and midfield woes. When countless investment in the squad over the last seven years especially, has failed to do so ?

  6. Bad thing for the manager to say but absolutely no doubt bigger clubs are watching his progress

Still don't really get why Ipswich let him come to us

Or is it something none of us know about?

When JET was at Ipswich under McCarthy . He questioned his work rate and the fact he did go missing in certain games or at certain times in a game. It has been well documented McCarthy's frustration with JET. Saying about him : " world beater one minute, panel beater the next". ( or words to that effect) .

  7. We've always sold our best, most lucrative players.

We have always been small fish in a big pond.

In league one we are just a slightly bigger fish in a slighty smaller pond. Football is a business, this is what the less successful clubs do. Sell players on to the bigger boys. Only problem is we tend not to make much of a profit on our past players.

Not sure how much we paid for JET but although I agree he on his day is most certainly championship quality, it's where you fit him in. Especially with a already established well oiled team. I'm hoping this will put the bigger clubs off and we can keep hold of him for this season anyway.
