I think the problem is at their end, my wife is getting a 500 error which comes from the web server, she has an identical phone to me but I'm not affected.

I think the South Stand often looks sparsely populated as people buy a ticket there then go and sit in an unused seat in the Lansdown, particularly for the second half. There's nothing to stop them as nobody checks the tickets.

Norwich City away match thread
ashton_fan replied to Jerseybean's topic in The Havanatopia Match Day Archive
I usually try and be optimistic but we've only beaten Norwich once in the last 14 attempts and haven't won at Carrow Road since Gary J was in charge so a big ask. -
Players tend to be much briefer with their comments if they're not happy. You have to accept that most players and many fans are happy with the coach, accepted not on this platform which is becoming increasingly disfunctional.

Nahki only has good things to say about Manning: The latest man in charge in BS3 may only be five years Wells’ senior but in the relatively short period he’s been in place, he’s certainly left an impression on the striker with his openness and willingness to try and improve each and every individual, irrrespctive of whether they’re 33 or 23. “All managers are different, but what I would say, in working with the gaffer is, first and foremost, he’s a great person, he loves the game, he’s 100 per cent committed to his job and, us as players, he really gives you that feeling that he wants you to progress as player; whether you’re a 19-year-old coming through or an experienced player like myself, there’s always room for improvement,” Wells added. “His door is open, you walk in to have a chat and next thing you know you’ve been in his office for an hour, you’ve been watching clips, you’ve spoken about things and that’s one of the biggest things that I can say is great about him, it’s continuously wanting to improve you as a player, improve the team, take zero shortcuts and has the way and a process at how he wants to do things and I think it’s coming to fruition, so hats off to him, he’s been a breath of fresh air since he’s been in with his ideas and his training methods.

FFP in the WSL. Why cant Lansdown buy success ?
ashton_fan replied to The Humble Realist's topic in Football Chat
The Sporting Quarter project and the housebuilding are separate from the football club, SL does expect to make a profit on those whereas the football club is always a loss maker and if he does get some money out (eg dividends) it's far less than he's putting in through share issues etc.. I doubt if any owner of a Championship club is making any money, they do it for fun and publicity in the main (I agree that this does not apply to SL now). -

SL doesn't see a penny of the money paid in by supporters, it all goes towards the players wages -

Everybody keen on spending someone else's money, should be politicians! -
I like the fact he always tries to pass the ball forward, perhaps that's why his pass completion rate isn't that special. Also our poor run of results happened while he was injured, we haven't lost a game when he's started. He shouldn't be judged on yesterday where the whole team was out of balance due to our makeshift defence lacking a specialist CB.

Huddersfield Town at home match thread
ashton_fan replied to Jerseybean's topic in The Havanatopia Match Day Archive
Huddersfield fans not too confident: Our only hope is that Bristol City are on the beach. Problem is that Town are so accommodating that even if they are on beach, we'd be rubbing sun cream on their backs and bringing them pina coladas.- 538 replies

No more domestic broadcasts online as of next season
ashton_fan replied to sephjnr's topic in Football Chat
We pay £35 a month for Now TV which gives access to all the Sky Sport channels (including red button games) via a Firestick. For the odd game it's £11.99 for a day pass, both options don't involve any contract so it's a potential alternative to Robins TV if that's not available without any financial commitment. -
It seems that for once the international break has done us some good! It will be interesting to see how we have progressed after a proper pre-season.

People saying it was just Blackburn being poor, it's only a couple of weeks or so since they won 5-1 at Sunderland. We got goals at key moments, it could have gone either way before the first goal.

Dickie Rooks was a good old-fashioned centre half, strong in the air and would clear it no-nonsense style. In this video against Charlton he scored a rare goal:

It's easy to look back on promotion seasons as some of our best, but we were in League One then where promotion is a lot easier to achieve than in the Championship. Now we lose more games but we're playing at a higher level, which is really an improvement.

Dave Burnside was with us as a youth player and was signed by Alan Dicks in 71/72 season but only made one appearance. Wasn't he famous for his ball juggling skills? Seem to remember he gave a pre match exhibition of his skills at AG on one occasion? -
I think when the season's over and we can reflect it will be clear that the squad was not as good as last season, very difficult to replace the likes of Scott and Semenyo effectively, so if we end up with more than the 59 points we got then it will be a reasonable result.
