  1. Looking at sitting in the Lansdown next Saturday and saw a couple of seats that have a restricted view warning. Assuming this is because of them being right next to the entrance (W16).

Can anyone vouch how bad the view is? If I just have to poke my head around for a corner, i'm not too bothered, but don't want to be breaking my neck to watch half the game!

  2. I can't remember the last time I had this much faith in our management staff; Pearson, Fleming, Euell (what a great addition he seems to have been so far) and Cisse. All of them bring different qualities and, for the first time in a very long time, even when we're going through a bad run I don't have any feeling that we should sort out the backroom staff - it's all individual player related criticism.

Pearson is a true leader and commands respect, and I think that is something we've not had from our manager in a very long time. I think he isn't necessarily a master tactician, but with Fleming and certainly Euell, it's an incredibly well balanced team. I also get the impression he's enjoying life at the club and really starting to become settled into things - hopefully results in some exciting times for us over the next few seasons.

Hopefully this comment ages well, but right now, overall it's good to be a City fan. Credit where it's due; thanks for giving us a manager to be proud of, SL!

  3. Being an expat in the US, i've used the streaming service a lot and it's come a huge way from where it began. However, one thing that drives me absolutely insane and has me hoping for it to be shown on actual TV is the incredibly biased, leading to sometimes cringeworthy, commentary.

I get that it's the clubs provided service, but surely someone needs to tell the main guy (can't remember his name) that we can sometimes call a spade a spade. I live in the US, I get enough one-sided commentary on the news channels!

Bonus moan - is anyone else having the commentary and stadium audio about 1 second ahead of the actual video stream? Also pretty annoying ?

    Rant over. Thanks for listening.

Goodness, how MANY times, SL cannot put money into the club, it is something that you may  have heard of - FFP - Steve is obviously a hugely wealthy man , BUT he is not allowed to invest......tiresome having to mention this yet again.

Not sure the attitude was needed.

Besides, FFP is a bit more complex than that and SL could absolutely have reinvested some of the cash that we made from sold players. When we pay a transfer fee, that amount is amortized, so the impact on the financial statements is actually pretty limited. The far bigger issue, is wages, as that is treated as an expense. The players that require big wages are the likes of players falling down the pyramid (typically, I have no specific insight into the wages of City players, so could be wrong).

This all boils down to bad management from the top and my comment is suggesting that the manager is not the main problem, it's the squad. The squad, until this past transfer window, has been assembled by Mark Ashton and SL.

Until we get better players, changing manager isn't going to do diddly squat.

Don't be taken in by his previous reputation and hype....he seems to have lost the management skill he had back then.

I'm not saying he's a world beater, I don't even have confidence that he'll get us promoted. But as of right now, in this moment, I really don't know who we could get in that is better.

  6. God love us as City fans... Who are we honestly going to get that is better than Pearson? He's the most proven manager we've had in decades. The reason we're s*** is because the squad we have is s***.

We had a good couple of years and SL and Ashton got over-excited and over-confident and thought we could sell these great players and replace them with cheaper, but just as great, players. Spoiler alert; they were wrong.

Through multiple bad decisions, we've accumulated a squad that is simply not good enough and laden with players that are falling down the pyramid (Wieman, Martin, Wells, etc.) Is it a coincidence that all of those players are strikers and our biggest struggle on the pitch is scoring goals? I think not.

Basically, Pearson is the best Bristol City are going to get. I'd be happy to stay up this season and have some continuity with Pearson for at least another 12 months before suggesting we sack him. The focus for me is on Lansdown to put some serious money in to turn this ship around, otherwise I worry for us...

Erm.. I was joking about the cheap suit thing @pigeon. Difficult to gauge tone over a forum though. It was in response to the ludicrous tweet about the family being worth over £60b.

I do actually agree with your point that it would be quite a spectacle to have a regular and competitive Derby with Rovers. I'm quite proud that the Bristol Derby is regularly in the top 10 "fiercest derbies" in the country that newspapers do every so often. Not sure how long we can hold onto that if we occasionally play them in the JPT or the other cups.

As long as they finish below us each season, have lower attendances, have a worse atmosphere and remain inferior to us in just about every way.. :shifty: I wouldn't actually mind having them in the same league

I do apologize if it was meant as a joke then, as you said hard to gauge tone over a forum! Must say i'm relieved it was a joke as I was starting to worry about the average mental age of the otib population!

    I smell ........

Nah on joking. You are entitled to your view just as i am entitled to think that they are ******* scum that should find a quiet corner somewhere and die.

Couldn't agree more, I have no thoughts towards Rovers as I am still a relatively young fan (25) and since I've been supporting City we've never had a proper competitive game with them so they don't even really feel like a rival. The likes of Yeovil, Swindon and Cardiff feel more like rivals to me!

Can you imagine the atmosphere if we were both playing at a decent level?

  9. Am I the only one that finds this thread rather cringe..?

I personally think it's great that Rovers have been bought out and I hope they manage to get to the Championship so we can have two proper clubs in Bristol that can enjoy proper derby's.

I was actually talking to a Celtic fan the other day and even he was saying that he can't wait until Rangers get back up to the top flight so I don't understand all the cringe worthy insults coming out. I mean honestly, saying the guy (who is obviously very wealthy) looks like he is wearing a cheap suit? Are we back in the playground!?

Anyway, i'm sure now some of the 'old boys' or the 'real fans' will tear this apart but oh well! Do your worst!

Good luck Rovers and hopefully the next time you play us we'll both be in the Championship or better giving you a 6-0 thrashing! :)

  10. Anyone else listening to the radio? Sounds pretty clear that Louis Carey isn't on the same page as Cotts at all.

Just completely agreed with a fan that called up saying that the system is entirely wrong and then just slated Cotts policy with youth saying that although he isn't a manager he doesn't agree with '10 minutes hear and there' and that after seeing the youth in our club that they are definitely good enough for a shot.

Carey for manager! (joking, calm down)
