    Yep, absolutely abysmal appointment.

Certain clubs at the bottom (one of them just over the bridge) appear to have no strategy at all.

Blackpool last week as well, sack Appleton, approach one of Man U’s coaches (Eric Ramsay) young, progressive, passing football type, then he turns them down & they appoint Mick McCarthy! Not exactly “like for like” is it?

Yepp. Along similar lines I had a giggle at some of the favourites for the Everton job.

Bielsa, Dyche, Rooney... what a mess

  2. Also, fed up of having a young, up and coming manager with new ideas who's performing poorly and our fan base calling for 'an experienced manager'.

Then having 'an experienced manager' performing poorly and our fan base calling for a young up and coming manager with new ideas.

  3. After sitting on it for an hour I'm of the opinion that we were poor today, are probably underperforming a bit generally and Nige could be doing slightly better. However, unless we are in the bottom 3 and looking almost lifeless I'd stick with it.

Why? Because I think a lot of the issues aren't NP's fault, they're Lansdown's/ predecessor's. NP is aware of those issues and trust he will tell the board some harsh truth's while having the experience to manage the personnel in the squad during a period of transition.

We need to be patient and recognise we're still in that period where we're having to manage poor financial decisions so a change won't come instantly. Although today was bad it was still better than what Nige was presented with when he took over. Managing that while cutting costs means I still have faith he will leave us in a better position than when he took over.

  4. Leaving your best penalty taker for the 5th penalty in that circumstance is bizarre. At the best of times I think put your best penalty takers first but even more so when momentum has just gone against you.

I still think momentum in football is underappreciated. If you can make the changes to swing it in your favour it can have a massive impact.

Hats off to Croatia, they've exceeded expectations in the last two world cups. Modric definitely one of the best I've seen in the flesh.

France's selection doesn't seem correct to Australia and Denmark in a three game competition

Not sure what to make of this one. See where you're coming from but the argument for France is why should they burn out their better players for the benefit of others? They've done their job which is why they're in the privileged position of being able to do it.

If England went out because England's strongest team lost against the strongest team of team X, but team X rested their best players and lost against team Y I wouldn't begrudge team X rather I'd be gutted England weren't good enough.

  6. Belgium have had a shocker of a tournament.

Canada were much the better side in their first game and Morocco deserved the win today.

Argentina have served up a couple poor performances but at least they had flashes of quality from Messi and Fernandez yesterday. The same can't be said from Belgium and their stars.
