  1. The usual suspects being mentioned to go up, I think we could sneak a play off place though.

Birmingham to go down, Luton I thought looked poor when we played them and Jones could leave for Cardiff so that could spell curtains for them.

I'll throw an odd team into the mix for the 3rd spot, Preston. They simply aren't scoring enough. Yes they looked good defensively but drawing games nil nil won't keep you up.

  2. That's when we picked up our 3rd home win last season, it took us 11 games. That was also the same date we kept our 3rd clean sheet at home last season too (we only kept 4 clean sheets at home all of last season).

Why dont you scrap one of the many x3 or x4s that always look empty and keep the x5 going even if scaled down?

I don't know the details of individual routes (not those ones you've mentioned). As someone else mentioned on this post there are issues with the subsidies. The routes being axed are no longer able to be subsidised I believe. If other routes are axed it will be for the same reason. A suggestion was made to make ticket prices more affordable which would potentially increase customer use, but this was dismissed immediately, that wouldn't be coat effective when we're already having to spend a lot subsidising certain routes.

  4. I work for Somerset County Council and as part of my job I have some dealings with bus services. I was in a meeting this week where we were setting up a focus group to deal with the overspend on bus services. Currently for the 5 councils (SCC, Som West & Taunton, North Somerset, South Somerset & Sedgemoor) we have a 13% overspend this year. So we are looking at how we can make savings. Obviously this will mean some services will need cutting but we are looking at other means such as fuel costs, contracts etc.

  5. I've just been told by a mate of mine who's in the know at both Taunton and Yeovil that Buse is to have his loan terminated at Taunton and is going to Yeovil for the season instead. We'll await an announcement, but my mate is pretty confident it's true.

  6. My thoughts are:

    Prem

Top 4 Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal & Chelsea

    Relegated  Forest & Everton + 1 other which I can't decide

    Championship

    Promoted Burnley and Watford

    Play Offs Sheffield United

    Relegated Reading & Birmingham + 1 other which I can't decide

    League 1

    Relegated the gas of course.

Millwall definitely have been there. I was thinking Blackburn for the Championship side.

Yeah you're right. They reached the FA Cup final but I don't think that was at the new Wembley? Also they've reached the League One playoff final. Did they win that too?

Thanks. The reason I asked is when I travelled on Saturday the website was completely wrong. Wrong times and cancelled trains which the website said were running.

This is why I m asking if there's someone in the know because I don't want to get stuck in Bristol relying on catching a train which the website says is running but actually isn't.

  9. What's the train situation for tonight?

I usually catch the 5:11 train from Taunton to Parson Street, is this still likely to be operating and on time?

I usually catch the train home at 10pm but I notice that one's not showing as running so I'd have to catch the 11:11 train which is the last one home. Miss that or it gets cancelled and I'm stuck in Bristol.

Anyone know any updates on rail travel?

  10. I think what separates the top managers from the rest is the ability to move with the times and have more then just plan a. When plan a works, like it did with Brown at Hull, it works very well but it won't work forever and that's when they get found out. The top managers have the ability to change to plan b or c or even d. Moving with the times requires you now to play possession football and also have a 'sweeper keeper'. This is why there are very few top managers.

  11. I'm going to go for a more recent one, Man City at the Etihad in the Carbao Cup. The atmosphere was amazing all game but when we went 1 nil up just before half time the roof came off. I think this will always stick in my mind because it's not often in my lifetime we've be 1 nil up away against the Champions and also it's not often we reach that stage of a competition.

There's only one Taunton John Jensen and I have known and been friends with him for at least 50 years. We went to school together in the 70's and started following City early in that decade. There was a good crew of us used to come up from Taunton and always met up with Bridgwater lads  on the train for most of the the home games and some away. I went less as I got older but John kept going and I lost touch with him for awhile. We reconnected when he came to work at the Argos warehouse near Bridgwater. He told me about all the interesting trips he had had supporting City home and away. He has battled cancer for three years and through all that time I had to admire his bravery and good spirits. John my friend, I will miss you and hope you can influence a few games for City from up there.

I also worked there and that's where I met John. We worked on the same shift and we spent many days talking City, him telling me about the home and away trips you went on. Good Times. He will definitely be missed.
