  1. I have a horrible feeling that it’s going to be Michael Beale. The emphasis on Head Coach makes me say this. As a manager he was awful at Rangers - it’s come out from players and pundits up there that he didn’t have the capabilities or personality for the job. He did a poor job as assistant at São Paulo too. To be fair, his coaching is highly regarded, but I could not stand him representing City.
  2. I’ve had this discussion with my brother a few times recently. I personally don’t think we’re a good enough footballing side. We tend to panic under pressure and revert to whacking it, or messing up simple passes or crosses. We need to be more comfortable on the ball. My brother somewhat disagrees - he thinks we’re a couple of creative midfielders away from competing at the top.
  3. Last season he was making it very clear that the squad he had was not his, and you can only judge him next season after he’s brought his people in. At the start of this season he was confidently stating that this was his team… and he’s lost three in seven.
  4. I didn’t like it when the co-commentator called us Bristol Rovers.
  5. sports-10 working well for me. Just have to listen to the Stoke commentators now. Was enjoying Tinman
  6. Happy with the score but Robins TV is almost unwatchable at the moment.
  7. I blame Kick Off and Sensible Soccer on the Amiga for my hatred of football games… or more precisely, I blame my brother beating me at least 8-0 every game we played. I did like Football Manager on the Spectrum and Kevin Keegan’s Championship Manager on the N64 though.
  8. One of your fellow countrymen did a great job of documenting our history a couple of years ago: https://www.bristol247.com/culture/art/bristol-city-fan-spends-800-hours-painting-clubs-most-famous-moments/
  9. It’s working somewhere as I’m currently watching an illegal stream of it. Robins TV logo in the corner.
  10. Came on to see if anyone else is having issues with RTV. Turns out they are
  11. When Kuntz was manager at Kaiserslautern, he signed Fuchs and Dick. True story.
  12. I assume this too… but when I watch all the in season behind-the-scenes footage - plus pre-season - Nakhi always seems to be posting the biggest/fastest/strongest numbers. He comes across like an absolute athlete.
  13. The kit is actually made of a new adaptive MirrorPlay fibre, where the shirt adapts to the state of the team. Right now it’s almost pretty good, but there are one or two things that make it look dodgy. It’s also why it wasn’t available until the season had started. Don’t worry, it will look amazing by Christmas but unfortunately fall apart from January onwards. At the end of the season it will be a disappointing boob tube.
  14. To be fair, that is a very nice looking kit. Got one for the kid. Just as well I didn't want one as they were all gone.
  15. My wife’s a Corinthians supporter and this is the kit she got a couple of years back. Inspired by the cracks in the walls of São Paulo. As mentioned above, something like this - inspired by the texture/pattern of the bear - would have been better than the shape of the bear.
  16. I don’t dislike it but think it’s a bit heavy handed. The idea is good but think that a more talented designer would have taken inspiration from the pattern of the bear rather than a literal representation of it. Without wanting to go over old ground, this is what Hummel were great at. Choosing a concept and delivering a nicely balanced representation of it. I’m pretty certain, for example, if you’d given O’Neills the brief for a robin kit, they would have come back with a big red circle in the middle and feather shapes around the neck. The Hummel robin kit was excellent. Similarly, the black away Hummel kit that took inspiration from the houses of Totterdown would have been a silhouette of terraced houses in an ugly gradient if done by O’Neills.
  17. That’s a great read. Really well written.
  18. I’m a bit out of the loop living over here, but aren’t Rovers currently looking to make their tent retractable? I heard there were complaints because the locals thought the technology being used was some sort of witchcraft.
  19. I’m amazed so many people got so much out of that interview. My criticism of it is, he really didn’t say much at all. It was a standard corporate message, from a CEO. No unexpected answers from no unexpected questions. He played it well but wasn’t really put under any pressure. I would have loved 20man, or someone more vocal about the fans, to have conducted that interview. My two cents re: Steve and budgets… possibly the worst thing for a businessman who is responsible for handling and investing other people’s money, is a headline saying they have failed financially. The reputational damage that failing FFP would have on Hargreaves Lansdown as a business - and as a knock on effect those who have invested their savings in it - cannot be underestimated. It would have had huge ramifications for us as a club and a lot of people around the country - City fans, or not. An over tightening of the belt is not an unsurprising response.
  20. Watch us wreck the mic, Watch us wreck the mic, Watch us wreck the mic, Sykes ?
  21. There has to be some version of Jingle Bells sung over the Christmas period.
