  1. Because I honestly believe that the 'success' of the competition will soon be touted as a reason to bring in Premier league U23 teams into the 92.
  2. Because of this. The police horses might sleep well, but I doubt the police themselves are overly chuffed with the final! (apart from the overtime of course)
  3. I don't care that Rovers aren't there, but I think Pompey v Sunderland is the worst thing for football. Many City fans have had a great time watching this competition and I suspect/hope that most of them remember that rather than think '**** it, not our problem anymore'
  4. That is the worse thing about last night, Pompey & Sunderland is exactly what the sponsors wanted, neither team's fans really give a **** as they don't expect to be bothering with this competition in the very near future.
  5. That is very unPC of you. I like to think of myself as 'differently normal'.
  6. Not really, just saying there are plenty of Rovers fans in Hanham (and City fans) . I wasn't brought up round here, but I think it's always been fairly evenly split but now with City gaining numbers (for obvious reasons)
  7. Believe it or not I actually bet the 4-0 at 66/1! I can't ever see me placing that bet again! I bought Jock a couple of pints in the bar after as he cleared one off the line which kept my money safe Watch the start of the video to see a Gerry Harrison challenge that would have earned him a red nowadays.
  8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bkmeian965E Justin Channing. I can understand why you may have forgotten him, scroll along to 2 minutes 10 seconds and it might ring a bell
  9. Excuse me, but I found this down on page two again. I know you don't think we are important to you anymore (we are btw) and it might be dawning on a few of you that LJ isn't quite the idiot many of you took him for, but can't you lock this on page one or something? I don't want to have to go scrolling through pages and pages of shite to post on here after it all goes tits up for you when Lansdown goes bankrupt and our incredibly wealthy owners finally start splashing the cash.
  10. I shall have to start writing a guide to non league grounds for you all Most of us that day (including me) were in the seats on the side, which is out of shot. We probably had about half the crowd that day , which, as you can imagine isn't saying a lot! Probably the lowest point ever of watching Rovers for me. Not the just been kicked in the balls, feeling sick feeling you get when we ever lost to you, but just a '**** me, what's happened' feeling. We had lost at Altrincham a couple of weeks earlier and the loss at Braintree made it seem like we were in very real danger of going down again.
  11. The game was moved to the Sunday because there was a BNP march through Derby on the Saturday. I say a march, but most of them seemed to be on the piss in the town centre pubs (which is what I was doing of course) I ended up having a bit of a debate with one of them who struck up a conversation with me, then a few of his mates joined in. It's not really a good idea to argue with pissed up BNPers!
  12. Plus the boycotters meaning we could take up to 250,000.
  13. He did, it was a very surreal weekend, which included . spending a huge sum of money on cocktails, the BNP, a mass brawl between some women in a curry house, but who then all sat down together to eat when the waiters brought the food, a mate earning the nickname Paolo Onesock, and other things that have to remain on tour! It is one game btw.
  14. Derby was almost 20 years ago now I think, the Fulham game we won in the replay.
  15. I don't know who you spoke to, but it did happen and I don't know anyone there who would deny that they sung it. I did think it was quite funny at the time.!
  16. I actually was going to mention Hengrove, but I thought I may have just imagined it! As I am sure you will appreciate, it does get a tad difficult to keep up to speed on this particular subject. Non existant.
  17. I think every club has cheated at some point, although I'm not convinced we did over the Stockport postponement. Do you think City have ever cheated?
  18. Thank you. Although once we get our shiny new stadium in Stoke Gifford/Hambrook/Mangotsfield/ Avonmouth/Severnside/Filton/Temple Meads/Frenchay/Jordan, we will be visiting those nice big grounds on a regular basis. #we'recomingforyou
  19. I suspect the 370 fans were in the away seated section, which is out of shot. The 2,000 locked out would have been at the pub just outside the ground.
  20. I don't care about Wycombe one way or the other and I like to think I'm a pretty level headed bloke. However, I was at the game where the 'lightening strike' happened. Admittedly I'm not an expert on such things . but I would like to think that if I was in a structure that was hit by lightening I would probably realise it had happened. Seemingly it was only their safety officer who saw the lightening strike, added to the fact that Wycombe had been practically begging the ref to abandon the game up until then , I'm gonna stick my neck out and say yes, the dirty ******* cheated and I was raging at the time! In the interest of balance, I freely admit that if this had happened to City, I would have found it extremely amusing
  21. He lost the first game in charge! But yes, I take your point, we will see how good he is after back to back defeats.
  22. I think I agree with most of that! It does seem Coughlan is popular among our support at the moment, 2 wins out of 3 and some good performances obviously help, as does the fact that he isn't Steve Cotterill. He seems a decent bloke, but I will reserve judgement for a few more games yet. I suspect he will get it till the end of the season, and if he keeps us up, he will get the gig. No doubt if we then have a bad start to next season, people will be moaning that we went for the cheap option, and will finally call for his head after it was discovered he once played a game at Ashton Gate and said something along the lines of 'the changing rooms were quite nice' . Dirty gert Ted that he is.
  23. That is a bit harsh, given his current strike rate he should be due a goal in the play offs
