The Official Colchester Vs City Match Day Thread
Norwegian Red replied to bissellredhead's topic in Football Chat
In fairness, some of the comments after home games make you wonder about the value of being there, and seeing the game. But leaving managers and coaches and journalists out of this........ -
The Official Colchester Vs City Match Day Thread

Sums us up today, if you want. The final whistle at Posh, summary would differ from that. Fer me, like, right now (whilst allowing for one or two having a game in hand) 15th with 8 games to go. Sums us up. -

Don't do it to yourself! Don't put yourself through it. Be kind to yourself. Distraction, that's what you need-you get the urge, the thought, "let's see what they're saying" you drop to the floor and do ten press ups, or go to the fridge and stuff yer face/ pour a drink, phone a friend, go for a walk, kick the cat. Anything! Just don't go on their forum. Not until they have a crap week at least.

I wouldn't go on their forum. Specially not if it was likely to upset me...

I think this thread, "Welcome To Our World, Rovers," leaving aside the JR bit, could run for a few years yet: Lower leagues with big ground, more support than many/ most, signing players on wages to suit parking bigger, fancier cars in the car park, raised supporter expectations, visiting teams enjoying the facilities, "lesser" teams bafflingly out-performing us again and again, people sat in seats less inclined to sing (choirs don't stand for nothing) and busy-body, fussy stewards, expectations and reality at some point not in alignment, criticism of board of directors, big-match heartbreak, recrimination, squabbling amongst the faithful, looking to rivals failure for some light relief...... We shall see. Either way, we need to up our game and rise to the challenge

I can now forsee Rovers going one of two ways: either they become a bit of a Reading, or a bit of a Darlington. Or they could just carry on being Rovers in nicer surroundings....
