My memory is a bit misty after so many years but I thought they were bouncing around the lower leagues when the Championship was formed.

They certainly bounced around the lower leagues then eventually, out of the league altogether. Ahh happy days.

JB … was a PL player who was capped by England.

You are correct. In 2007, Barton won his one and only England cap when he came on as a 78th minute sub in the 0-1 defeat by Spain at Old Trafford. A 12 minute England career.

Of the two, Charlton are the bigger club and are bigger than City, with home attendances in excess of yours last season in a lower league.

Others have already corrected your erroneous statement. Last night’s  attendance was 12,756 with just 780 away supporters so it would appear that neither their nor your supporters could be bothered to turn up.

The away kits I have seen that Stoke had in this period were all white shirts and all had the Stoke badge on the chest. The yellow and blue kit Bristol City wore that day didn't have a badge and neither did the one I seen Bristol City wear in that charity match at Hartcliffe in the winter of 73-74. I fancy they were effectively an early Bristol City third shirt/kit but weren't embellished with a badge because they would rarely be worn.

No doubt the kit had to be washed and back in Loxton’s before opening time on Monday.

  4. These days, playing away from home, teams change from their ‘home’ strip even though there may be no colour clash whatsoever with their opponents. Back in the day, teams only ever changed to their away strip as a last resort. Many years ago, I read somewhere, a snippet which stated that Norwich hadn’t worn their away strip in a competitive fixture for something like 8 seasons!

Goalkeepers only wore green jerseys (although other colours could be used in the event of a clash); black was often worn by keepers from ‘continental’ teams - however, I think I’m right in saying that yellow was reserved for international use only?

Mind you, as any match shown on TV was in B&W it didn’t really make much difference!

Just watched his first interview at Bournemouth. He is very grounded for a 19 year old and genuinely surprised by how far he has come in the last 3 years.

He is very complimentary when it comes to Bristol City and how he will always be grateful for the opportunities that he was given by the club.

Clearly excited by the prospect of playing in the Premier League, and describes it as every kids dream. It’s almost like he can’t believe it himself having been disillusioned with football after being released by Southampton and totally lacking self belief.

It’s a credit to him that he remains humble despite the fact that he is clearly a very talented footballer.

He is top class all round and deserves every success in the future.

Pleased he extended his contract to ensure that we benefited well financially from his departure.

We’re definitely more financially solid now and the next few years shouldn’t be as frustrating as the previous few.

    Tanner-45 passes 68.9%

The reality was worse than the stats portray imo. So many of Tanner’s 45 passes were backward to Vyner or O’Leary; too few were played forward with any attacking intent.

I like George and have been generally impressed with him. Like so many other City players on Saturday (and our singers and tellers) he seemed nervous, unsettled and on edge in the first half. Let’s hope that it was a one off.
