  1. Hello friends!

Well, we both won again and things are looking rosy in the Bristol footballing world.   It's a little spooky how often we both have good seasons at the same time. Just as we are about to narrow the gap, off you lot go again to maintain it.

It's just the way of the world.

Anyway, 92nd minute winner or not, they all count. Our very own on-loan Chelsea starlet Charlie Colkett did the business.  Playoffs here we come.

  2. Hello dear friends.  Nice to remember sellout crowds of the past.  I'm sure we all want those days back.

Hoping we tank Northampton tomorrow and their maverick George Best of the lower leagues - John-Joe O'Toole, who when he was with us said he wanted to be playing in the Championship.  If only he'd stayed with us.

Obviously I hope Forest win, but I fear it's three points for you.

By the way, Ashton Gate looks a bit like the City Ground nowadays, don't you think?

That Jordan has its problems? Maybe suggesting that if you can be killed for a satirical facebook post then perhaps your owner would be wise not to be seen being carried down the road by a bunch of pissed up Rovers fans?

I have no idea, but I think the political situation in your owners country where they have their bank maybe vaguely interesting.

Well this new political slant has opened up up a whole new can of worms hasn't it?

Has this been brewing for a while in the minds of some?

    From the BBC news website

"A Jordanian writer charged with offending Islam after allegedly sharing a satirical cartoon on his Facebook page has been killed.

Nahid Hattar was hit by three bullets outside the court in the capital Amman where he was standing trial."

Glad this sort of thing doesn't go on in Guernsey

As they say "Lie down with dogs"

Jordan writer in blasphemy case Nahid Hattar killed

And this means what exactly? Some sort of implication that the new Jordanian owner of Bristol Rovers must mean there is some kind of spurious link with extremism?

    Shame on you.

Horrified? Doubt it... You are so far behind us in terms of pretty much everything its not even funny anymore

True, but there is a small chance we will be playing you in the Championship next year.

It all hinges on the new stadium. If it fails we might do a Yeovil. If it happens, who knows?

Slight difference between stuffing an established championship side 4-0 away and scabbing a win at home v Port Vale.

    Perspective mate.

You make a fair point, but we can only play the teams we have in this league, and if we beat Port Vale, who were 5th this morning, then that is a good result, especially with our £20m striker Matty Taylor out with a hamstring thingy.

  7. To answer a few concerns about our bribing of referees, can I quote the deluded forum?

"Since the Torquay home game on New Year's Day 2015,we went over 21 months without being awarded a penalty in a home league match (Walsall 13/9/2016) both dodgy ones mind you.Now had 2 in the last 11 days!"

So it's not all luck then.

Early days, but one point off the playoffs.

You must be horrified at the thought we might be coming for you.

Crap striker, crap manager, crap owner, crap fans. How is this happening?

In all fairness your forums are full or clones, Bert would just be arguing all the time, get accused of being a City supporter and then banned... followed by lots of congratulations to the mods for banning him. Your forums pretty much have to tow the party line, stay with cloned talking points, and not rock the boat to much.... it's almost fascist like - but hey, that's how you keep people happy, create a illusion, a story, repeat it, make the fiction a perceived reality and stop as much outside influence as possible... North Korea could learn from you.

Actually there are several posters on both Rovers forums who take a cynical/pessimistic view of our new owners. These people aren't banned, but they do face a barrage of criticism, as you would expect. They would get the same on here, if they were City fans who consistently criticised the club.  That's to be expected.

I'm talking about a relentless and bizarre campaign to criticise everything Rovers do nowadays, all expressed on your forum.  No praise for promotions, no praise for a good manager, no praise for a good striker.  Just negativity.  And all this from a Rovers fan. Please.....

As I've said before, if the alter ego of Bert (let's call him Fred (Ford)), existed on Gaschat, those on here who read his bile would be seriously critical of him for a) his total negativity and b) his cowardly decision to only post on a rival forum.

He is not a fan of Bristol Rovers. He is either a fake or disturbed.

    I'm not letting him off.

Yes the new home is crucial but without the correct working capital and management structures in place it will all be wasted.

This latest UWE Freshers fair gaffe illustrates that Wael Al-Qadi was being completely honest when he told Geoff Twentyman about his new management structure. "Well Steve has replaced Nicholas and another Steve has replaced Toni and my mate Karim is meant to be developing business and then there is all the old staff".

It doesn't make any sense unless all you want is a train set which you can watch go around and around and rely on your parents to keep paying for it.

Which I think might be what Samir was trying to tell us and explains why he was edited out of the TV edition of the programme.

Some telling points there Bert, with the usual painfully verbose attempts to extract some humour through imaginary quotes.  So much time taken to compose. So little wit as a result.

Why though, as ever, do you choose to make them on this forum?

    Others are available.

Disloyal?! What the hell would make him disloyal? The fact that he poses pertinent questions?! You seem to expect all rovers fans to follow blindly and this, THIS, is why your club has stumbled from shambles to shambles.

We've stumbled from the Conference to League 1 in two years. The old leadership who led us to the Conference have gone.  Based on last season, we are 7th in home attendance, competing against the likes of Millwall, Coventry and Sheffield United. Away attendances are incredible considering what we've gone through in recent years.

It doesn't match where you are now, but to call it a shambles is frankly nonsense.

But you knew that when you wrote it.

Oh look, Scooby Doo is on the case now.

Chill out for a bit 'Flea'...Detective Fanny hasn't finished his interrogation/grooming yet.

I will wait in turn for my internal examination. Be gentle, and use some lube.

But I don't have a problem with any of you lot here. I get it, and your mods allow me to post on here, so that's all good.  You're supporting your club, and taking the piss out of us, with good reason, until recently.

I am troubled by Bert, though, either by what he purports to be, in which case he is perhaps not the best fan in the world, or he is a fake, in which case he's just a bit sad.

Danny, I'm surprised at that admission.

Any true Gashead will tell you that once a site has been selected, design completed, planning permission obtained and finance put in place.

The next logical step is to do a feasibility study

Keep getting those likes Bert. It must keep you happy.

Have you been to many games lately? Which ones? Do you think that the club and squad have improved or declined in the last two years?

  13. 36 minutes ago, East End Old Boy said:

Rochdale, Port Vale, Fleetwood, you have come a long way in recent years!

Surely it's more appropriate you two meet at Ashton Gate, as OTIB is your common denominator?

Remember the old days when City used to play clubs like that? Must be 50 years ago.

  14. These really are genuine questions to any posters who wish to consider them reasonably.

If someone like the equivalent of Bert Tann posted regularly on Gaschat, taking the position of being a City fan, assuming of course they were allowed to do that, and consistently criticised Bristol City, having special bile for Bristol Sport and without ever a word of praise for anything positive like a promotion or a new manager, how would you feel about it?

As on here, no doubt "Alan Dicks" or whatever he might call himself, would get loads of likes from Rovers fans, and congratulations for seeing the truth about how rotten the club really are, or at least as he portrays the club.

You would read this on Gaschat and come to the conclusion that the bloke is a total shyster, wouldn't you?  You wouldn't take a word he says about being a City fan with any credibility, would you?

    Would you?

While you have a valid point , it would mean that every time 'they' did something else stupid or comical (and you just know they will) , the posts would be scattered all over the forum in new threads. Best thing to do is ignore the thread , but you will never know the outcome .......

    * is Wael a billionaire ?

    * Will the UWE go ahead

    * Is their super striker really a loyal servant who loves the club.

    * Is Dopey Darrel really a tactical genius in a very good diguise

All these questions and more may be answered in the next instalment of .......

The first three questions are very good and need answers.

The last is disrespectful. Call him Dopey if you want to be a forum favourite, but we all know he's done a great job at Rovers in the last two years.  Leeds wanted him.  He was sensible enough not to want them.  His tactical changes at Chelski almost rescued the game against the big boys to the point where they had to bring on Hazard and Terry to keep it safe.  And even then they were worried.

DC is a great young manager with a great future, perhaps not with Rovers.  This "Dopey" crap is just that. We might be ragbag Rovers, but we do not have a ragbag manager.  He's the best thing to have happened to us for 20 years.
